Succesful fluent virtualization of Windows 10 Posted: 22 Feb 2019 12:13 AM PST I have some clients that work with Windows-based systems and software that I also need to use for administration purposes. I'm virtualizing Windows 10 on my Macbook Air 2014 1.3ghz 8GB 128GB using Parallels Desktop. I tried Parallels, Virtualbox, and VMWare Fusion. They all have the same problem. Windows does not run smoothly. I think so far Parallels has been the smoothest experience. It just feels generally slow. When clicking on Start it takes a few seconds for the menu to appear, programs respond slowly, etc. I'm quite certain that I have virtualized an earlier Windows version quite smoothly on another Macbook I owned in the past. I'm still hoping there's a way I can actually make it perform better. Is there anything I might do?

I can't share my note with my collaborator Posted: 21 Feb 2019 06:45 PM PST On my Mac, I used Notes to create a new note, typed in some placeholder text, clicked on the "add person" icon and sent my collaborator an invite via Messages. He got the message, and when he tapped on the invite link (on his phone), the notes app showed up, but my note wasn't there. He has iCloud for notes enabled. Any other possible causes of my invite not working? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Feb 2019 08:39 AM PST Hey guys, I'm running Mojave on my MacBook Pro and I am having issues with my dock. I just want the dock to always be visible EXCEPT for when I am viewing a fullscreen app, then it should only be visible if I move my mouse to the bottom of the screen. I thought my Mac used to do this but now its only letting me have it be always visible or always hiding. [link] [comments] |
Network drive issue after updating to 10.14.3 Posted: 21 Feb 2019 03:26 PM PST I have three accounts on my computer: admin and two users. I have a WD network drive connected to a wired router and a regular external hd connected to an Airport Extreme via USB. After updating to 10.14.3, my user accounts can no longer connect to those network drives, but my admin one can. Something's up, but networking is not something I really know how to troubleshoot, so Google is a rabbithole for me. Any suggestions or links would be great. Or you can just tell me to piss off. How to create a keyboard shortcut for the virtual keyboard? Posted: 21 Feb 2019 06:39 AM PST Hi everyone, I know how to make custom shortcuts, and I know how to access the virtual keyboard, but I can't seem to find a way to make a shortcut to toggle it on and off. This would be a huge help in language learning, where I haven't mastered the lay-out of the keyboard quite yet, but I still want to be able to toggle it off for 'screen space hygiene', if that makes sense. If anyone could help me, that would be grand [link] [comments] |
Placing animated GIFs on desktop, but not as wallpaper? Posted: 21 Feb 2019 03:07 AM PST Old versions of Windows could do this, like in this old video: https://youtu.be/kOrfAPO_qIs?t=75 (NSFW image in the beginning of the clip.) Is there any app or trick that lets you do this on a Mac? [link] [comments] |
