How will the alleged iOS 13 dark mode work without black smearing being a problem?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 05:47 AM PST

OLED screens naturally suffer from black smearing (the sort of ghosting effect you get on an oled panel when scrolling against a true black background). I think this would make an dark mode in iOS 13 look pretty terrible. How is this going to be addressed?

Apps updated, refresh App Store, same update appears?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 03:37 AM PST

Am I doing something wrong? I update an app via App Store on my iPhone 8 Plus (12.1.3), it updates fine and turns to "Open." Then if I refresh App Store, the same app I just updated, says "Update" again .. ?

If I delete the app, I can reinstall it, but then if I refresh App Store, it says "Update" for the app again. Even after a fresh download of what I thought was the latest version of the app, from Apple's servers.

Rebooted the phone, reset network settings, deleted app, plenty of free space on the phone .. what's left to try? Thanks

Block my AirPods on someone’s phone?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 05:56 AM PST

Friend used my AirPods and now he won't stop binging them on FindMyPhone. Annoying as shit and sometimes they connect to his phone unintentionally. Can I block his phone?

App keeps downloading same update over and over

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 08:00 AM PST

    Is there a fix?

I've tried signing out of iCloud and signing back in as well as rebooting the phone.

Also removed the app and reinstalled.

iPhone XS 512GB or iPhone XR 256GB?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:29 AM PST

I can get a used very good condition iPhone XS 512GB or the iPhone XR 256GB brand new for around the same price (the XS is around $30 more).

    Which should I get?

People big into working out, what apps do you use? Strong? Etc

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 06:14 AM PST

So yeah title. Looking for some good workout tracking apps, hopefully with a good UI, I know Strong is rated well, and if I cant find anything else Ill probably bite the bullet, was rather hoping for either free or a one off payment model rather than a subscription though.

    Thanks.

[LIFEHACK] If you can't use your Apple ID because you forgot the security questions & answers.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 10:40 AM PST

I had an old Apple ID that was locked because I had to verify my account, but as I had to answer the security questions I couldn't recover my account. I asked Apple to help but they wanted to answer to a minimum of 2 questions. After the "help" of Apple, I tried to sign in with that Apple ID on my new iPhone with iOS 11 (it came with it, now I use 12.1.3), and voilá, it didn't ask to enter my security answers, and it changed the security answers to the two factor sign in.

Weird “beeping” notification, not sure what it was.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 07:12 AM PST

I know this is a long shot, but here is how it went down...

Driving to work, iPhone XS connected via bluetooth to a little bluetooth receiver wired into the head unit. Listening to an audio book on Audible.

Out of the blue, I get this very morse-code-sounding sequence of beeps. I'm nearly 100% sure it was coming out of the speakers, and not out of my iPhone or my Apple Watch (especially because the watch wasn't vibrating either). It only lasted like 2-3 seconds. Also, my ring/silent switch on the side of the phone was off.

It was so weird I pulled over to check my devices for notifications and none of them had anything within the last 10 minutes or so.

Does anyone have a guess of what it might be? It was definitely not the car, I've been driving it for a long time and none of the idiot lights were on, plus the morse code definitely was not just evenly spaced beeps like the car will make when trying to get you to notice something.

Cross-posting this to see if anyone has an idea of what it might be!

    Thanks in advance!

    Apple Pay use diminishing?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 09:03 AM PST

Has anybody noticed that less people seem to be using apple pay these days? I know I stopped using it about a year ago. It seems to me that the novelty has worn off a bit. Also I found Apple Pay to be more intuitive on my old iPhone 6S than on my X.

Reported storage on my phone in settings is only 35 GB/64 GB, but on my laptop iTunes says my storage is past capacity. Is this an issue?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 08:30 AM PST

*Reported used storage (noob) In settings on my phone I have apparently used up 35/64gb, which sounds about right. However on iTunes on my laptop I am apparently "over capacity by 365.5 MB". Why is there a difference? Can I fix it? Did a Google search and search on here and didn't see anything but here's my obligatory "sorry if this has been posted before"

How often do you remove your case to clean your iPhone?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 04:13 AM PST

With the current price of the iPhone, it's for sure an expensive object you own and, if you're like me, want to take care of.

I have an iPhone XS with the Apple Leather case and I was wondering, how often do you guys remove your case to clean up the phone ? To avoid stuff to slide inside the case and possibly scratch the glass/steel ?

I was a bit paranoid about it and started to do it every couple of days but I feel like that's maybe a bit too much. And then I wondered about YOUR habits :)

    Apple Music keeps pausing

    Posted: 01 Feb 2019 05:44 AM PST

I'm on an iPhone 6, IOS 12.1 and my music keeps pausing. Is this a glitch or an issue from fall damage? The music is downloaded so it's not connection based
