Poor Battery Life - 11” Pro

    Posted: 20 Feb 2019 10:29 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

I was hoping to see if anyone else is encountering the same problem I am having.

I am getting poor battery life performance, about 6-7 hours and I've only had my 11" iPad Pro for less than a month. At first, I was getting about 5 hours before I realised the Apple Pencil was the culprit. I have now detached that and I have gained about an hour, but I am still missing about 3 hours.

I turn WiFi off and Bluetooth overnight off to minimise the battery drain. My main apps are the Office Suite, Netflix and Adobe Reader. I've attached a breakdown of my battery performance in the post below. Is this anything I should be concerned about, or is this quite common?

Thanks and I appreciate the replies.

How is the battery life for the 2nd gen Ipad Pro (2017) on ios12?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2019 12:15 PM PST

I finally bought an ipad pro a few months back after wanting one for forever for my digital art. I went with the 2017 2nd gen model and have loved it so far. For a while now its been prompting me to update to ios12 from ios11.4 but Ive been hesitant because I'm worried about the battery life. I know newer ios updates tend to run slower on older models and drain the battery faster and the beta version of ios12 in particular caused the battery to drain pretty badly on the 2017 pro. The ios has been out for a while now though, so for any people here with an ipad pro 2017 running ios12, what's your experience been like? How has the battery been since updating?

I dont really care about apps running faster or more streamlined gestures or AR and animoji. I only use my ipad for art apps and drawing so for me the most important thing is battery life. I would however like to play around with garage band but in order to download the app i need the latest ios. If updating to ios 12 takes a hit on the battery, I'd rather not update though. .

    Notability Audio recording on Mac

    Notability Audio recording on Mac

    Hi everyone,

This post may be better suited for Mac subreddit, but I feel that major audience of Notability's users are rather a part of this sub.

Thing is, I have just yesterday noticed, that Notability's audio recording feature DOES NOT work on MacOS at all. It just returns instant error. I have tried re-installing and re-opening app, playing with microphone settings in system preferences and etc.

On the other hand, voice recording feature works perfect in iOS versions of this app..

I was wondering, if that's my Mac's problem, so if anyone could test out if their Mac version of Notability allows to record audio, I would highly appreciate it.

I have attached screenshots of the error to this post. I have also contacted Notability about this issue, but as it seems they are very slow to reply to issues..

iPad video editor app as good as Final Cut Pro on Mac?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2019 03:38 AM PST

I'm trying to replace my MacBook Pro with the iPad. So would like a video editor app that can do what final cut can without losing too many features.

If Affinity Photo is the Photoshop replacement app for iPad, which is the one for Final Cut Pro?

Any Recommendations for IPad Pro 2018 12.9 Games for Apple Pencil

    Posted: 20 Feb 2019 10:22 AM PST

I have found many great games for the IPad, but none that really involve the Apple Pencil.

Anyone have any games that are especially for, or can be played using Apple Pencil?

    IPad Pro 11” 64gb or 256gb?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2019 09:49 AM PST

I've been thinking about purchasing the iPad Pro 11" but I'm not sure if I should get 64gb or 256gb?

I currently own the iPad Air 2, 128gb and I've used around 53gb of that storage. My main used of this new Ipad would be using procreate, image editing and writing. Does anyone have any advice? It would be appreciated! :) Thanks

YouTube in Safari supports keyboard shortcuts and PIP

    Posted: 19 Feb 2019 07:53 PM PST

Today I randomly retried YouTube in the browser and it is pretty amazing. It supports way more feature than the app. The only drawback is you have to use the desktop version. Luckily you can easily do that by long pressing the refresh button and tapping "Request desktop site."

Once you are in the desktop version, you have access to Keyboard Shortcuts and PIP.

Keyboard shortcuts that I figured out: Spacebar (pause), J (back 10 seconds), K (pause), L (forward 10 seconds), F (full screen), T (theater mode), C (captions on/off)

Regardless of if you use the mobile version or the desktop version, you also have access to Content Blockers (blocks ads)!

As of today, the YouTube app supports none of these features.

I just figured this out and wanted to share!

EDIT: reworded to make more sense.

    Hard-Shell case recommendation for iPad

    Posted: 19 Feb 2019 11:39 PM PST

Can anyone recommend a good hard case for an iPad (iPad Pro 10.5) when carrying in a backpack or some other situation where it could possibly get stepped on or bent? Looking for something that is as thing as possible yet still provide protection against bending, twisting or bring stepped on. Not talking about a shell type case that stays on the iPad all the time but rather something like a thin pelican case.

Something like the Pelican 1065 case but just a little wider.

Really enjoying ipad!! + suggestions for photo management app

Really enjoying ipad!! + suggestions for photo management app

    Hey all,

So I've been reeeeaaaally enjoying my 11 inch IPP

On weekends I will go around the city with my camera, IPP, and SD card-USB-C dongle

I'd take pictures for several hours, go in a cafe for food + coffee, read books on kindle app, import and retouch the photos with the Affinity app, and/or watch some videos (with earphones of course!). I've attached a photo I took this weekend.

The apple pencil makes it easier to edit photos for hobbyists like me (and is also great for taking notes at work)

Moreover, the battery is great so you don't need to worry about it too much!

Anyways, I'd really recommend it for hobbyist photographers: You know the difference between a jpg and RAW, are interested in editing/retouching photos occasionally, but aren't serious enough to pour lots and lots of time or money into the Adobe CC

However, one thing I've been a bit disappointed about was the default photos app:

    1. You can't change the size of photos you see in "gallery mode" (where you can see multiple photos). I'd like to see the photos a bit bigger but if you enlarge, it just brings up one whole picture
    2. You can't sort by date added, file type, or etc.

Maybe I'm missing some settings? I was wondering if anyone else had suggestions for a better photo management app

I'm trying to stay away from Google photos because of the whole privacy thing but then I mean apple probably saves my photos into their servers anyways..

Anyways I'd really appreciate any suggestions!
