Has anyone gone Cellular-only with the S4 LTE 44mm on a beach day? Posted: 03 Feb 2019 04:45 AM PST So i was wondering, is it possible to leave my iPhone behind on beach day? Winter is very light here in Spain and I'm planning on going cellular-only very soon and during this spring/summer the majority of the days i go to the beach/pool/party. Have any of you guys tested it for like 6 hours straight only using cellular, without doing too much but just answer texts and track activity (and maybe a little of Cittymapper/maps/Uber)? How do you think battery would perform? I already use cellular when going to the supermarket, gym, walking around or visiting my friends (they live 1km away). [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Feb 2019 06:52 AM PST My running club has a mix of fitness watch users. The two most popular watches are the Garmin Forerunner and Apple Watch. We all leave our phones in the car. We've had a lot of data discrepancies between the two. The garmin users are mostly the same using GPS+GLONASS. We can't tell what mode the Apple watch is using but we see it supports GPS+GLONASS+Galileo and QZSS. We've observed that Apple Watch 3 and 4 are aways off during group runs. Today their watches were a quarter mile more than the Garmin. We drove the route to mark 7 miles. Garmin was spot on. The apple watch says 7.25. It wouldn't be such a big deal if it were not for pacing. Last week it was the same, we ran 10 miles and they had 10.4 for my 10 miles and we knew it was a 10 mile course. My garmins (forerunner 235 and 645) are set for GPS+GLONASS with 1 second sampling. The routes I run are almost always exactly the same distances for the start and stops. I've also measured them by car.

Why can’t they bring Taptic clicking to the Digital Crown on the series 3? Posted: 03 Feb 2019 07:40 AM PST I'm genuinely curious about this one! So of all the serties 4 features, like the ECG and even the bigger screen, I don't really see any reason to upgrade over my series 3 since the series 3 is still great and blazing fast, but the ONE feature on the Series 4 I would absolutely love is the Taptic Engine « ticking » as you turn the Digital Crown. My understanding is that of the two hardware components required for the new series 4 feature, the Taptic Engine and a Digital Crown, the series 3 has both of them! And it works in other applications like, for example, if you're changing the volume in the Spotify app with the Digital Crown, it « ticks » as you scroll. So my question is - if the hardware components are there, couldn't apple theoretically just release a software patch that brought this feature to the series 3? Besides just being a great feature, it would also be useful to visually-impaired people and could find use in the accessibility options. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Feb 2019 07:24 AM PST Hi All Is heart rate variability only available on devices purchased in the US. I'm based in South Africa and got an AW S3 and not once has my watched recorded my HRV. reinstall re-pairs don't work. For some reason under health , my Apple watch does not show up as a data source under HRV. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Feb 2019 07:55 AM PST What are the advantages of keeping on WiFi on the watch? And if I turn it off, will it save battery life? [link] [comments]

Series 2 won’t charge or turn on, am I screwed? Posted: 03 Feb 2019 06:53 AM PST As stated, I have a series 2. Two nights ago it failed to charge. I thought maybe I just didn't have it on the charger properly. Last night I made sure it was on the charger properly, still no charge. Now it doesn't even have enough power to turn on to do a hard reset or any of the other tips the Apple support site suggests. I've tried my charger, my wife's charger, I tried cleaning the chargers and the back of the watch, nothing seems to be working. Short of going to the Apple store, any other tricks I can try? Posted: 03 Feb 2019 05:47 AM PST Usually my watch takes around about an hour to charge from around 10% - 100%. Its been on charge for 2 hours now and has only gone from 9% - 15%...anyone know whats going on? [link] [comments]
How large a video can be downloaded to Apple Watch Posted: 03 Feb 2019 05:42 AM PST I just found out we can message a video to ourselves and watch it on the S4. Has anyone uploaded a long video, an hour, for instance? [link] [comments]

Is the workout option HIIT or Indoor Run more accurate for an interval workout on the treadmill? Posted: 03 Feb 2019 12:38 AM PST I'm asking because the description of HIIT typically and on the Apple Watch Workout help page is of longer periods of work and shorter periods of rest, generally measured in seconds. My treadmills workouts are interval based, but in terms of minutes and inclines (which the watch can't include) where I may run at increasing paces for two minutes and then walk for two minutes. I don't know if the watch will get confused if I select indoor run and then walk during the exercise period. It also has the potential to mess up calibration on pace. Thanks! [link] [comments]
What Do You Wish You Had Known? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 05:49 PM PST My wife and I are close to getting the Apple Watch. We're well integrated into the Apple ecosystem (both have iPhones, have Apple TV, have iPads, have a Mac laptop, hell... I probably have my iPod from 2004 around here somewhere). But, just curious, for you guys - what do you wish you had known prior to buying your Watch? [link] [comments]

How to stop Workout app from popping back up every time screen goes black Posted: 02 Feb 2019 10:45 PM PST I'm just starting to use Stryd with my Apple Watch, but I also like to record runs in the Workout app for more accurate calories and all the badges and challenges. The trouble is, every time the screen goes dark, the watch switches back to the Workout app, which pauses Stryd. I can't seem to figure out how to make that app just chill in the background, and my search terms aren't bringing anything up for me either. Does anyone know the solution for this? Posted: 02 Feb 2019 07:59 AM PST I upgraded from a series 1 to series 4 Apple Watch today. Generally really pleased with it but I seem to have an issue when I do a workout (walk) without my phone in that there are no calories recorded. The distance, heart rate and all other metrics are recorded. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? [link] [comments] |
