Prime Video HDR & Dolby Vision Posted: 07 Feb 2019 04:59 PM PST I have a Fire TV 4K Stick as well as an Apple TV 4K. When watching certain shows on the Fire TV, Jack Ryan for example, it plays in Dolby Vision. If I watch it on the Apple TV, it only plays in HDR. If I watch A Very English Scandal on the Fire stick, it plays in HDR but it won't at all on Apple TV. Why is this? [link] [comments] |

Does airplay improve with later models? (Beyond Gen 3) Posted: 07 Feb 2019 04:36 PM PST Hey everyone, I have an ATV Gen 3 with an Xs. The airplay has always stunk. It's very unstable and only works the first time about 50% of the time. Specifically airplaying from the YouTube app. If I purchased a Gen 4 lot later would this improve? Has anyone had any positive results with this when upgrading? Notes: -Internet connection is fine with no real lags or anything like that. -iPhone and appleTV are both updated to the latest firmware. -I've had every iPhone from the 6s to the Xs and have always had issues, although it feels like it has gotten worse in the past year. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Hulu on Apple TV always has subtitles on... Posted: 07 Feb 2019 09:13 AM PST When I watch certain shows on Hulu sometimes I turn the subtitles on as an aid for when there is a heavy accent or if I just couldn't make out what was just said. But like I said, I only use the feature sometimes. Lately every time I start a show on Hulu by default subtitles are on. If I turn them off, when the next episode auto plays they are on again. Is this a Hulu problem or Apple TV problem? How can I make the default = subtitles off? I think it's an Apple TV issue cause I'm not noticing it happening on the app on my iPhone. Edit: Deleting and reinstalling the app worked. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Feb 2019 08:53 PM PST TLDR: Thinking about purchasing a second apple TV for my apartment, can that connect via another providers Wifi to allow me to login to all apps/features - or does having a wifi provider separately limit my functionality. I assume if I can login to my fios account for each app it should be fine, but want to double check. [link] [comments] |
TV sleeps while using Airpods on Apple TV — Sony TV Posted: 07 Feb 2019 01:56 PM PST I think this is a Sony TV issue but whenever I use airpods with my Apple TV, after about 30mins or so my TV will shut off and turn black. However I know the video is technically playing on the Apple TV since the audio has not stopped playing. Has anyone else came across this? Sony 65X930D [link] [comments] |
Watching iTunes purchases on Apple TV? Posted: 07 Feb 2019 03:19 PM PST What's the better option, streaming them directly from the app, or downloading them onto a computer? [link] [comments] |
Anyone used a HDMI > Optical converter on the Apple TV 4? Posted: 07 Feb 2019 03:06 PM PST Looking into getting a converter as Apple removed the optical port. Checking to see if they work on the Apple TV [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Feb 2019 03:20 PM PST I love the infuse app. On some videos that I play though, I get the screen to pay for infuse pro and that usually happens when the audio codec for that video is Dolby sound etc. is there a way to continue to play those videos on infuse without upgrading to pro? Interesting the same video codec file can be played via VLC or Plex no problem. Why is it that infuse is the only one asking me to upgrade for those audio codecs? Thanks [link] [comments] |
