Possible to make a full bit to bit backup of iPhone/iPad? Posted: 26 Feb 2019 06:59 AM PST Just backed up my iPad before getting it replaced due to damage. After restoring the backup I notice all the apps on my iPad are all loading from the App Store. That would explain the small size of my backup file. Is there a way to make a bit for bit backup of the iPad or iPhone instead of them relying on re-downloading everything from the App Store? I don't have a fast Internet connection so the restore takes days to complete. [link] [comments]

Software Development Lifecycle and DevOps Survey Posted: 26 Feb 2019 07:50 AM PST Hey! I'm looking to understand how different organizations go about their software development lifecycle and how they implement DevOps for iOS. If you have a spare 3 minutes, here's the survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/devLifeCycle [link] [comments]
Is there a way to block a specific app or apps from App Store search? Posted: 26 Feb 2019 07:40 AM PST My SO deleted YouTube and YouTube Kids from her devices, but would like to know if it's possible to remove it from search entirely. [link] [comments]
iOS 13 idea that will never happen... (default apps) Posted: 26 Feb 2019 06:47 AM PST So this is very obviously never going to happen because Apple does like to keep us locked into their stock applications, but what if we could change our default apps in iOS 13 (or beyond)? I mean android lets you do it but it's not always perfect and probably needs some work as it is. But if apple were to implement that, here's how I'd assume it would go. They would create a API or whatever it they call it to allow developers to make/create apps that can be changed to default. They would probably make it so it would need Siri support (like how apps can do only this time, for example, if you set Spotify as you're stock music app, you could just ask Siri to play a playlist and it would use Spotify instead of Apple Music [not sure if Spotify has Siri support but if it did you would have to say "hey Siri play blank in Spotify] which would be really cool) It would also allow those apps to be the default when opening in "music" or "safari". So if you click on a link in iMessage you could have it open google chrome instead of safari if you so chose. Obviously things like the App Store, iTunes, probably notes, maybe the clock app and a few a others would be locked down but it'd be really cool for you to be able to change the apps that we use for stock stuff. Obviously Apple would put their own spin and make it hell for developers but that would kind of make the apps that actually care enough to become a "stock app". Obviously this is a dream and will probably never happen but I think it'd be really cool to use like google photos as the stock photo app, or a different weather app as the stock weather. Maybe even a new camera app? That could open up a whole new world for some develops, creating paid photo apps that use AI to create better shots. Maybe even google will bring the AI they use to create better nighttime pictures to the iPhone? I think this would really help improve the iPhone environment and take some stress off of apple to provide the constant perfect experience. While also promoting competition for them, which in some cases can make their products the best. Apple really hasn't needed to compete much these past couple years which has led to less innovation on the iPhones with the biggest departure being the iPhone X, which wasn't as big as apple hoped. Their stock apps and iOS as a whole are all starting to get stale, their optimized and run well and I enjoy them, there's just some things apple needs to either spend more time developing or just let people decide what they want. What do you think? Will apple ever give us the ability to have new stock apps? Or is this a dream only jail breaking can make a reality? Do you even care? Do you think that apple should never let us change our stock apps? [link] [comments]

LPT: All you have to say is "`ey Siri" (like A-Siri), or even "A-Seer" Posted: 26 Feb 2019 05:02 AM PST I use 'Hey Siri' frequently every day (almost for everything). I've learned recently that all I really have to say is "A-Siri" or just "A-Sear". So, "A" is "Hey" without the "H" sound, and "sear" is like "Siri" but without the "ee" part in the 2nd syllable. Like a nickname version of "Siri". Sear. `Ey Sear! For a long time, I thought the secret was making sure I hit the "H" harder in "Hey" along with hitting the "S" hard too. It turns out that what iOS is "listening" for is just the "eySear" sound. The rest isn't needed, at least for me. Try it! [link] [comments]
iOS office suite that allows working with multiple documents at the same time? Posted: 26 Feb 2019 04:44 AM PST Is there an Office suite for iOS that will allow you to work with multiple documents of the same type at the same time, e.g. in tabs? Various apps like Word, Pages, Excel, etc all allow only one document to be opened at a time. I often move back and forth between documents, e.g. to copy bits, etc. Opening them in different apps isn't really practical. It's most important for me with respect to text documents, but any other type would be welcome too. Maybe it's been asked before, but I cannot find the answer... [link] [comments]
A song disappeared from my music library. How can I get it back Posted: 25 Feb 2019 05:17 PM PST I bought When You Were Young by The Killers a few weeks ago and now it's completely gone from my music library. It's still on iTunes on my MacBook, and when I go to the iTunes Store on my phone the song says purchased with no way to download. How can I get my song back? [link] [comments]

Can you suggest me some good replacement for default Mail app ? Posted: 26 Feb 2019 01:00 AM PST TLDR I love native mail app, its great. It has siri integration, it supports HTML signatures and works with siri. But game breaking problems for me are no gmail push and no ability to send images as attachments (not embed). Can any of you suggest me some workarounds for it or alternative email app which preferably can do it all ? PS : It can be paid app, but would prefer its free or that it has some sort of trial. Thanks guys [link] [comments]
Cloud based reading app/library Posted: 26 Feb 2019 12:38 AM PST I'm looking for an iPad book reading app that allows me to store books in the cloud and yet be able to display all book covers, search the whole collection, assign and sort by tags and download books at will. I don't want the books to occupy space on my device until I want to read them. Like a Spotify of books. Any suggestions would be great:) [link] [comments]
