Lost 1 AirPod, is there anyway to find it? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 04:06 PM PST As the title states, I have lost my right AirPod a few weeks ago. I have Find My iPhone linked to my airpods, but don't know where it can possibly be. At around 4PM, I tried using my airpods but I couldn't find the right one. Is there any way to track down a single airpod? I'm going to buy one in a few days if there is no possible way to track it. EDIT: I should also say that I paired the single AirPod and case AFTER I lost one of them. I'm not sure if that will affect anything. Also, I've used find my iPhone, but that only shows the location of the case and the AirPod that is not lost. [link] [comments] |
Just got back from Genius Bar, iPhone started in Diagnostics Mode? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 08:40 PM PST I had my screen replaced. When they returned the phone I turned it on and one of the first screens asked if I wanted to continue in Diagnostics Mode or Skip. I pressed Skip. Anyone know what it is? Should I reinstall fresh iOS? [link] [comments] |
Are iCloud Notes, Reminders, Contacts, also stored locally on Mac? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 08:01 PM PST Hey there, I use iCloud to keep all my notes, contacts, reminders, etc. in sync with my iPhone and iPad. Despite not ever using the "On My Mac" feature, I have reason to believe that the "iCloud" notes, reminders, calendar events, etc. are ALSO being stored locally on my Mac itself, and are technically "on my mac" as well. For example, when I turn WiFi off, I still have access to all of my iCloud notes, and therefore it's not streaming the data from the internet (like iCloud.com does). Of course, when I am offline, any updates I make to my iCloud notes wouldn't be reflected on my other devices until later when I connect to the internet. I keep a full time machine backup of my entire mac. SO, does this mean that if Apple's servers crash and all my iCloud notes, contacts, reminders, etc. get deleted off the servers and deleted off my Mac by extention, they would still be recoverable from my time machine backup? On Apple's website, they say you can make local copies by copying the contents of iCloud Notes to TextEdit or something, but that confuses me, because technically all notes should be stored locally already, right (and therefore safe in time machine)? MacBook Pro 13" (late 2013) Screen Issue Posted: 05 Feb 2019 03:09 PM PST Weird problem here. I have a screen issue where it seems the screen image is flickering and being duplicated on my MacBook pro (see video above). It seems like a hardware issue as its effecting most every image/application. However spotify is not effected. Odd. I have not dropped or caused physical damage to the laptop recently. The HDMI image has no issue. Happens whether I'm on power or not at all resolutions and brightnesses. I've tried several restarts and reinstalling the latest OSX. I'd give up and say its hardware but it's strange to me that the "flicker" isn't constant and spotify would remain perfectly clear with no issues. Anyone have any insight or experienced this before? Apple login Verification is making me insane Posted: 05 Feb 2019 03:45 PM PST My company put iTunes on our PCs. Awesome I decided to give Apple Music a go so I can listen at work. I work on the second floor and I have to pass through 4 doors, two of them I need to badge in with a code, and bonus, I can't bring my phone inside. By the time I get down to my car, get the code and back to my desk, iTunes tells me the code is invalid. What really pisses me off is there is no human I can talk to to verify who I am and get logged in. [link] [comments] |

Does anyone have a problem with the Bluetooth on the iPhone X? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 07:11 AM PST It just gives me the spinning wheel of death when I go to Setting > Bluetooth. Can't turn it on or shut it off it just shows the wheel instead of the toggle. I've done a hard reset, network reset and every wiped the phone clean and plugged it into iTunes. Went to apple and they said it's a hardware issue but all they did was plug it into there system and it couldn't communicate. This all happen once I did the new update so it can't be hardware. Out of warranty and never got apple care because I have never broken or dropped my phone since I've had the original iPhone. $500 to fix and I have to send it away. I use the Bluetooth constantly, Apple Watch, AirPods, car Bluetooth, wireless speaker at work and home. Any help is appreciated [link] [comments] |
can the Apple Magic Keyboard be used as usb-only? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 09:03 PM PST To avoid this being an XY problem, I want to use my Magic Keyboard with two computers. If I can make it USB only (eg turn off Bluetooth) I can use a USB switch or even physically move a cable. Otherwise I'll have to get creative or switch keyboards. (no, Synergy etc don't work well with retina type displays and such). [link] [comments] |

Stop the upgrade notifications? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 01:56 PM PST My 80-plus year old dad loves his email and Excel on his old Mac. With narrowing cognitive abilities, learning new things is not really in the cards for him. Also, remembering not to upgrade to Mojave is not sticking with him, and I get weekly question from him about the pestering he gets to "upgrade to Mojave!" every time he uses his computer. Is there any way to disable these notifications permanently? It'd make both of our lives easier... [link] [comments] |

Do Apple 12W chargers use different signalling from most third party chargers? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 07:31 PM PST I've seen several third party chargers advertise a chip to "detect your Apple or Android device and deliver the right current for optimal charging speeds" or something like that. They all name it different things but the blurb is generally the same. The thing I'm curious about is why they always call it a chip, which would imply some sort of switching or logic happening inside. As far as I know, for Android devices all you have to do to get the device to recognize a power source as a higher-capacity charger is short the data pins together. Do Apple chargers use a different way of signalling this? [link] [comments] |

Desperate need of help - MacBook Air won’t turn on and I need to access important files! Posted: 05 Feb 2019 07:08 PM PST Hey guys, My MacBook Air has decided it won't turn on - it's had this problem before where it won't turn on at all (even after several troubleshooting steps and such) but then by some miracle decides one day to live again. Unfortunately this week I haven't been so lucky. After calling Apple and doing several things asked, it has been declared that the computer needs some kind of special reboot - I'm told that this means all the files will be wiped. So here lies my problem. Without being able to turn the laptop on, how can I back up or restore my files so they're safe? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2019 11:25 AM PST I have tried going into account settings and making sure the mail check box is checked in account preferences, but that does not seem to do it. I have the email show up on my iPhone and iPad. [link] [comments] |
Can I put SSD from MacBook Pro 2014 to MacBook Pro 2015? Posted: 05 Feb 2019 11:22 AM PST |
My iPhone restarts sometimes when I press the lock button. Posted: 05 Feb 2019 06:46 PM PST I don't really know what to do. I have an iPhone 6 that my sister gave after using it for about 1-2 years. When she gave it to me, the home button was not working (neither the Touch ID function). I dropped it about 2 weeks ago and the LCD was broken, and had the screen repaired a weeks ago. Then I dropped it again, but there was just a small crack next to the home button. Since the last drop, sometismes when I press the lock button to check my phone, it sometimes restarts itself. My theory is that it detects as if I was pressing the home and the lock button and doing what I previously said, so I was planning on installing JailBreak on it and somehow deactivate the home button functionality in order to make it stop (I don't really know if I can do this). HELP PLEASE!! [link] [comments] |
Recovering data from old 2013 Macbook pro SSD - Please help! Posted: 05 Feb 2019 12:36 PM PST Hello, I'm attempting to recover files from an old MacBook Pro which kicked the bucket last year but can only seem to find one enclosure/adaptor that can be used to interface with my new mac to transfer the files. Unfortunately, it's a little out of my price range at this moment in time - has anyone had any experiences with or are aware of any cheaper alternatives I could use? It's for a MacBook Pro 2013 model A1502 with a PCIe SSD 12+16 pin. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Feb 2019 05:35 PM PST Hellooooo. In mid-december my laptop suffered a liquid spill. Immediately cleaned up as much as possible, freaked out and called my mom. She said she took her laptop into Ubreak it, and had great results. There was a store less than 10 minutes from my house, so I jumped in the car and quickly took it in. Their diagnostics was that the battery needed to be replaced. So I spent the $200 and had it replaced with no other choice, really. Got my laptop back a few weeks later, (after Christmas and the holidays), and that night I found I had a new problem. My screen started to flicker black. I took it back to the original store, the said they opened it up and couldn't find anything, so I was at a loss. My laptop would be working well, up until an hour or so, then it'd start flickering. After running as many tests as I could find, everything comes back as working normal. Took my laptop to Apple and they couldn't figure it out either. So I'm coming to Reddit in hopes that I can gather more information, or find someone who has had the same problem as I have. Version 10.14.4 Beta macOS Mojave Macbook Pro 13 inch (Late 2015) Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 8 GB Startup disk Macintosh Graphics Intel Iriis Graphics 6100 1536 MB I do apologize in advance if none of this makes sense, or whatnot, I'm a bottle of wine in. :) [link] [comments] |
Mail app takes 30gb of storage (iPhone Xs) Posted: 05 Feb 2019 05:22 PM PST Recently, I've been experiencing issues with the "System" storage growing an insane amount (around 10gb in under a week). I deleted a LOT of photos to try and clear some space - my phone is a 64gb model and the system took around 35gb of that). After deleting over 5000 photos and videos, it only freed up about 2gb if space. Then yesterday, I went back to the "iPhone Storage" setting and this time, the Mail app has suddenly jumped to the top of the list and is sitting at 29gb. I figured that it made sense since some article stated that mail was included in System/Other. I've got about 10,000 emails at least spanning back over a decade. I decide to delete the useless ones straight from the server as deleting from the iPhone is such a hassle. I have gotten rid of over 3000 emails, and the storage taken up by the mail app has gone down to 26gb and then back up to 29gb. Can anybody offer me some help? Would deleting the mail app (and the documents) through the storage management settings delete the mail from the server as well as the iPhone or only the iPhone? I've deleted the accounts and restarted my phone multiple times and nothing has changed. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Feb 2019 01:12 PM PST I would like to know if it's possible to have a custom screen brightness set per desktop.
