How to stop volume decrease when in messages Posted: 21 Feb 2019 08:15 PM PST I'm listening to music and open my messenger app and it significantly decreases the volume of my music until I leave the app. I find it quite irritating! I am using Apple Music andon the latest iOS version on an iPhone X. It happens no matter what I'm using for speakers (iPhone, beats X, home stereo, car stereo). How do you disable this? 13-inch retina MacBook Pro (2015) track-pad and keyboard not working Posted: 21 Feb 2019 01:25 PM PST -no water or physical damage was inflicted. -haptic engine/clicking still works -this is the fourth time this has happened to me, each time on a separate device This could issue could not come up at a more inconvenient timing. (a paper, a lab report, biochemistry HW, and a histology exam all due within the next week) -nearest apple store is a little over an hour away -every-time this issue arose, apple genius does not pinpoint the specific underlying issue. Rather, they just replace the whole keyboard/mouse/haptic engine framework for $800. Of course I refused this option. [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7 Plus microphone unresponsive Posted: 21 Feb 2019 08:53 PM PST After noticing that my auxiliary adapter for my phone stopped working in my car I became alarmed as the fit was kinda loose and music would play through my phones speakers and not through the car. After further inspection I realized that my lightning headphones also stopped working but charging worked fine so I passed it off as nothing that wouldn't fix itself. After a couple hours I got a FaceTime call only to not hear the person on the other side but the call ending itself. Apparently the person contacting me couldn't hear me so I thought maybe it's a microphone issue. I tried using Siri only to have her not hear me. I tried voice memos only to have it crash and I tried taking a video only to have the video option crash the app. Other apps and functions such as YouTube and trying to play a video also are making my phone a little sluggish. Had no serious problems prior to any of this so it's a little off guard. Any idea what's wrong? Fixes? Thanks for your time :) [link] [comments] |
My iPhone 6 battery is acting weird, after I replaced it 6 months ago Posted: 21 Feb 2019 08:27 PM PST So, I have an iPhone 6, bought in 2014. In late October of 2018, the batter wouldn't hold a charge for more than a minute, so I replaced the battery at an official Apple store. Now, it's being odd. Today, it died at 88% (being at 88% for a while), and after a restart (no charging) it jumped to 10%, but held there for a while. Then, I charged it to 90%, and used it for a while before it died, and same thing, to 10%. It then charged really fast, like 5% per minute. I'm not sure what to do here. (IOS 11.4.1, Battery health in settings says 100%.) [link] [comments] |
Loud screeching from headphones. Posted: 21 Feb 2019 07:54 PM PST So the audio is fine when just playing through the regular speakers, but if headphones are plugged in, a horrible loud screeching sound comes out. Any ideas? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Trying to figure out what tape the Apple technician used Posted: 21 Feb 2019 06:16 PM PST So I took my MacBook Pro 2016 to the Apple store the other day to enquire about the cost of repairs. My keyboard had been acting up (unresponsive keys) and the bottom of my display had accidentally been fractured. The fracture is located right on top of the little 'MacBook Pro' logo at the bottom of the bezel. The technician said to get it repaired it would cost upwards of $1000 AUD. As an alternative he said he'll just grab some special tape to cover it up and stop the fracture from worsening. It's a black, shiny, slick tape and he said it would continue to adhere despite any heat. Does anyone know what kind of tape this is? I'd like to pick some up online for future use whenever the current tape loses its adherence. Thanks :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Feb 2019 06:10 PM PST As the title states, I have a 2009 Macbook Pro. I know its a bit dated but still functions for what I need. My issue is that I am primarily a Windows guy and have very little knowledge of Macs. My issue with my Macbook is that, after becoming "warm" the bottom RAM slot seems to lose detection of the RAM. Here's the catch though, it only loses detection if I turn off the Mac after it has become warm. If I turn the Macbook on and all 6 gigs are not detected ( One 4 gig dim and one 2 gig ) I can turn it off before it gets to operating temp, take the bottom off and re-seat the RAM, and then it is detected fine, again, until it gets warm and I have to restart it. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
International Applecare+ water damaged iPhone 8 Posted: 21 Feb 2019 04:55 PM PST Currently travelling in Fiji but will be in Australia shortly. My iPhone 8 has water damage where there is moisture under the screen and a no longer functioning back camera and flash. It's been sitting in rice for approximately 3 days. Turned it on once and it still works besides the camera. I purchased my iPhone in Canada and have used 1 of my accidental damage repairs. Will I be able to receive any support from apple in Australia or am I better off mailing my phone home and purchasing a new one since I will be travelling abroad for a while? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 21 Feb 2019 03:34 PM PST Hey so my iPhone 6 with iOS 12.01 has been offloading apps every night without my permission. I don't know if it's trying to free up space or what, but is there any way to stop this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Feb 2019 11:24 AM PST Hope this is the right place to ask this question. Before iTunes was a thing, my husband had tons of CDs. Like - over 1000. He painstakingly copier all of his CDs to his PC, then input them into iTunes. So, the majority of the music on his iPod (2012 version) is not purchased through Apple because he already owned it. The music files are taking up a ton of space on his PC. He is due for a new PC soon. My question is this - can he delete these files from his PC, and still expect them to be saved to his iTunes account when he signs into his account on his new PC? [link] [comments] |
moving to Japan, confused about locked/unlocked Posted: 21 Feb 2019 06:25 AM PST Hi guys. I'm moving to Japan next month long-term. I'm planning to use a Japanese "Mobal" SIM card when I get there. However, my current iPhone is locked, and as such it will be useless outside the UK. I need to buy an unlocked phone to be able to use the Mobal SIM. My question is: if I buy an unlocked iPhone 8 Plus here in the UK, and bring that to Japan, will it be able to work in Japan? I've read things online about different "bands" (?) in different countries (e.g. "Compare the Bands listed on the Tech Specs of the 8 and X, to the bands providers use in Japan") but I'm tech-illiterate so I don't know what to make of that. I'm worried about sinking hundreds of pounds into a new iPhone and arriving in Japan only to find it's a brick when i put the SIM card in Any help would be much appreciated. [link] [comments] |
There is no OS on my mac, nor a way to install it. Posted: 21 Feb 2019 03:00 PM PST Hello, I recently got my old laptop out and decided to wipe the drives since I had no clue what all my old files were and I am not interested in playing games with it anymore. I deleted my drives and booted into recovery mode to run the macOS Sierra installer. I am able to verify the device, agree to the Terms and Conditions, and choose the drive. There is only one drive "OS X Base System". Once I start the install I get one of two messages. macOS Sierra failed to download Use the Purchase page to try again An error occured while preparing the installation. Try running this application again. With the first message It still lets me wait for it to install so I tried rebooting and attempting to install again. It gave me the same message so I decided to click "Ok" and wait anyways. I let it go for almost two hours while I was out at class. I got back and checked the installation log and saw nothing new besides it saying that the screen fell asleep and then woke up when I wiggled the mouse. When I go into disk utility this is what I see I am not able to erase, mount, or restore either of these. I've tried creating a new image but quite frankly don't know what I'm doing and it gives me an error every time. Any input or advice would be much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Might have friend logic board on 2012 Macbook Air. Easy DIY replacement? Posted: 21 Feb 2019 02:44 PM PST I was attempting to replace the battery, after which the computer wouldn't power on with old or new battery, or AC adapter. Took it to apple, they think the logic board may have gotten zapped (i didn't ground myself, i know, stupid!). Apple fix costs $500, replacement logic boards on ebay run $150. Possible DIY (assuming I ground this time lol)? [link] [comments] |

Is a MBP screen failure intrinsically related to a boot failure? Posted: 21 Feb 2019 10:47 AM PST Hi! The screen on my MBP 2013 failed a few days ago and at the same time, my computer got about halfway through the boot procedure (loading OS after logging in) before crashing. These things happened at the same time. Now the guy at the repair shop says he cleaned the motherboard and all he needs to do is just replace the screen. I'm skeptical. In your opinions, will replacing the screen solve problems with booting? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Macbook not booting from install disc Posted: 21 Feb 2019 01:32 PM PST So I installed Windows 10 on my late-2009 MacBook, and realized that I liked macOS better. After putting my OG Snow Leopard disc in, it would show the apple logo freeze with no spinning wheel, flash the folder icon for a split second, and reboot. I thought this might be my disc acting up (since it's 10 years old) and ordered a new one, but it does the same thing. Now I have a wiped hard drive, so I don't have an OS to boot from. I really need help here... [link] [comments] |
iMac 2544 Wont Start - Have the Screen off Posted: 21 Feb 2019 01:27 PM PST This has been a kids computer for a while, one day they let me know that it was broken. Wont turn on, no startup noise, no lights, nothing. If i listen really close I can here stuff happening inside when I power it on. So I popped the screen off and carefully blew off all the dust. The Bottom LED indicator is on, and when I got to power on the second LED from the bottom comes on as well. The fan runs, not sure if that is relevant. Any suggestions on the next steps of diagnosing it? [link] [comments] |
Thinking about upgrading but have questions about Bluetooth headphones. Posted: 21 Feb 2019 01:13 PM PST A long time ago I bought a pair of Marshall Bluetooth headphones that I use when I bike on my commute. It's great for music. The controls on the side mean I can adjust volume, skip, or go back on a playlist. If I have the wire, I can also use Siri. For music, the Bluetooth is fine. But if I switch from music to a video, the audio is visibly delayed. People on the screen will speak and ill hear it on a very slight delay. I looked through my iPhone 6 to see if there was an audio setting that would address this. There wasn't. So my first question is, do new iPhones (XR, specifically) have this setting? I also see that Bluetooth gets upgraded every few years, though I'm not sure what exactly is being upgraded. I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to the lingo. My second question is, is Bluetooth better now so I won't get that delay on new phones that don't feature a headphone jack? Finally, I suppose that AirPods work best with Apple products. Do they have a delay as well? Would it make a difference in delay depending on the brand of headphones I am using with a new XR? Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 21 Feb 2019 12:34 PM PST I was wondering if there is a way to order my iTunes songs by the date added, my windows music folder has an option to do this, but my iTunes doesn't. I'd want to be able to do this in my playlists, kinda of like how Spotify has it set up, with liked songs. I kinda of get bored by listening to old songs in shuffle mode, and want my new songs to be at the top. I understand that there is a recently added section on the music app, but that's for individual albums, and not a whole list of songs that play one after the other, in the order. [link] [comments] |
Is Team Viewer secretly running in the background? Please help me. Posted: 21 Feb 2019 12:28 PM PST Hi everyone, I stumbled upon this thread ( https://www.reddit.com/r/applehelp/comments/20t25j/i_might_have_a_keylogger_andor_malware_how_should/ ) when looking for a solution to find out if I'm being secretly key logged. When following the steps just as described in the given thread I amateur-like tried analyzing the output given by the Terminal and stumbled upon the entry "Team Viewer", for example: /Library/LaunchAgents: com.teamviewer.teamviewer.plist com.teamviewer.teamviewer_desktop.plist NOTE: I do not have team viewer installed and I am 70% sure I never had it installed in the first place (but there might be a chance I once had it installed and deleted it after a while, sadly cant remember anymore). Using Spotlight search I cant find any traces of Team Viewer being installed on my Mac, can someone please help me and clear this out? If more info needed about the output that Terminal delivered after going through these steps provided by Linc Davis on the apple discussions board ( https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4243511 ) I am happy to share, for now I am just super worried and wondering what in the hell is going on. Thanks in advance for any help and best regards, jerixx [link] [comments] |
