How to remove Weknow virus from Macbook? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 08:59 PM PST I've watched countless videos and have done many steps, but the Weknow search engine is still there. Anyone know how to remove it? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2019 10:04 AM PST Hey guys. So basically: I'm having serveral problems with my iPhone, but I also noticed that my AppleCare is ending soon. Today I've called the assistance and I've been told to do a reset and try to see if I'm still having the same problem. However, my AppleCare is ending soon. If I don't manage to call Apple back, I still have the same problem and my AppleCare ends, is it true that my Apple Care will still be available since I've called for the same request BEFORE it has ended? That's what I think I've been told, but I'm not completely sure about it. p.s.: sorry for my english, it's not my native language. [link] [comments] |

Live listen on AirPods doesn’t work Posted: 27 Feb 2019 08:33 PM PST I recently bought a pair of AirPods and noticed that live listen doesn't work. When I try to access it form the control center it says that it's unavailable for current route. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or I've yet to activate something in the settings? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Feb 2019 07:14 PM PST I have a 2013 Mac Pro that has been working like a charm, till now. I left for a month, and when I came back it appears that the fan has some sort of issue. I've been hearing a soft scratching sound when it starts working , I can barely feel any air being thrown out and it appears to be unable to go any faster than 790rpm. I can use my mac for a while, but if I try anything that makes it rise it's temperature it goes to sleep. My hope is that it's a bug or something stuck in there, and I've looked at the ifixit guide to open the fan up and clean it, but I don't have any T screwdrivers and I'm kinda broke right now (which is why I also can't take it to a technician). I know that I'm asking for a bit too much, but any tips that could help me? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Feb 2019 09:37 PM PST I know what I'm asking for. I've spent a week trying to adjust to the touch bar, and my fingers are just always barely brushing against the screen...suddenly the whole display jumps around with sharp brightness increases or instantly mutes my volume, and for now I've pretty much found the best solution: Toggle F1-F12 keys to be on at all times, and then disable their functions and use FN to access my control bar. It works for the most part. However, I'm still getting tons of misfires whenever I hit ESC, but I end up activating F1, which always pulls up the help articles/webpages for whatever application I'm using. I'm so close to finally getting used to the fact that Apple decided they would just rip the buttons away to "innovate"....there has to be something out there that just gives me a dead touchboard by default, and then access to my brightness/volume/media control bar when I press FN. Right? Thanks for any assistance. [link] [comments] |
MacBook Pro 2015 SSD Data Recovery Posted: 27 Feb 2019 09:16 PM PST Hey guys, dropping in for advice. Spilled liquid on MB Pro 2015, what external device do I need to recover the data? I've found a external USB adapters that I could plug the SSD into, but then could I stick the usb afterwards into any computer in an attempt to recover the data? Or does it need to be a another MacBook? [link] [comments] |
Two questions about connecting iPhone to VW Bluetooth Audio (xpost r/Volkswagen) Posted: 27 Feb 2019 09:10 PM PST I've been driving a 2011 Jetta for about 5 years, and I've been using the Bluetooth Audio feature ever since they got rid of the headphone jack on the iPhone (RIP). My current model of iPhone is the XS. 1) It seems like the time is takes for my phone to connect to the Bluetooth after starting the engine varies quite a bit. I usually wait about 20 seconds before trying to play something, but sometimes it takes a few minutes to find the connection. Sometimes the connection is instant, but there have been a lot of times recently where I wait the 20 seconds, hit play on my podcast app, and then I have to listen to it through my phone until it pauses, which means the Bluetooth connected. How does this work, and how can I streamline this? I hate how it seems to be random every time I get in my car. 2) I mainly use two apps to play audio in my car: Overcast for podcasts and Spotify for music. Overcast works the ideal way. I open it, find what I want to play, and hit play. Spotify, on the other hand, auto-plays as soon as I open the app (if it's connected to the VW Bluetooth). That means, for example, if I want to look for a song while I'm listening to a podcast, it automatically interrupts the podcast with whatever song I was last listening to. I hate this, and can't seem to find any option to turn it off. [link] [comments] |

iPhone6 won't turn on after drained battery Posted: 27 Feb 2019 08:52 PM PST This happened yesterday too, I forgot to charge my phone and so the battery was drained. I charged it, and when i hold the power button the usual charging sign doesnt show up, nothing shows up at all not even the not-charging sign. But yesterday when i just left it presumably charging it turned on after 40 mins. Today it wont turn on, it has been an hour, maybe two hours actually, and it won't turn on. My charger is working fine since i tested it on my friend's iphone. I don't want to go to power mac to get it fixed since im a broke college student. Does anyone know how to fix this or what's going on? [link] [comments] |
USB SSD for BootCamp problems with USB keyboard and mouse after booting in Fusion Posted: 27 Feb 2019 08:17 PM PST Hi All, I'm not sure this is the place to post this question, please let me know if there's a better place for me to post: I recently purchased a 2018 15" MBP. My intent is to use this for work/school and then eventually get an eGPU to be used with bootcamp for some gaming. I have Windows 10 installed on a USB-C external drive (not thunderbolt, just USB 3.1) that I am able to boot on bootcamp. At one point, I wanted to boot the SSD in Fusion so that I could run Visual Studio under Windows. It seems to be that after I boot with Fusion, I have problems with booting "natively" with Boot Camp. I first couldn't get it to boot on boot camp after being in fusion, but I booted again in Fusion, shut down properly (though I think I did last) and then was able to boot in Boot Camp. The problem from there is that none of my USB-attached devices (keyboard, mouse, audio) work. My display which is also connected through my Thunderbolt 3 hub does work however. I've realized that if I go into the Intel drivers section in the bootcamp drivers directory and reinstall the Chipset drivers, I am good for that boot. At the end of the install, it asks me to reboot at which point I am no longer able to use any usb devices as soon as it starts back up. I would really like to not have problems with going back and forth with booting via Boot Camp versus Fusion and was wondering if anyone has encountered this before. I would be happy to go back to just using Boot Camp as long as I didn't have to reinstall all over again because it's a bit of a pain to get things to install properly on a USB drive. Changing email linked to icloud Posted: 27 Feb 2019 07:35 PM PST The email that I have for my apple ID and iCloud no longer exist, and I have no clue what my password is for that account, and I can't reset it because I can no longer access the email linked, if anyone has anyone solutions please let me know [link] [comments] |
MBPr dGPU running terribly slow. (Nvidia G650m) Posted: 27 Feb 2019 07:21 PM PST I'm having issues with my Macbook Pro. In MacOS the integrated graphics are faster than the dGPU! I remember it getting around 50fps in Cinebench and now it's getting around 17fps! This mainly happened after I installed Nvidia Cuda or something like thisn couldn't remember. How do I restore my 650m's drivers back to it's normal state? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Stairstepping MacBook ping response Posted: 27 Feb 2019 07:18 PM PST I'm not quite sure how to phrase this, but we've been having trouble with our router lately, and we started recording the ping rates and packet losses during normal internet activities that have issues. Both my 13" 2015 MacBook Pro and my 15" 2017 MacBook Pro have these strange stair-stepping ping responses when I'm not doing anything bandwidth intensive, but quit when I'm doing a video call or something. Does anyone have any idea what the deal behind this is? Is it a power management thing? The 2017 is on and what I'm using to type this, the 2015 is my work machine and has its lid closed in my backpack. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2019 06:47 PM PST Basically what it says on the tin. It's only an issue with one album but it's very bizarre. It all started when one album I've had forever was greyed out, but other albums by the same band were fine. That struck me as very odd since the record label was the same. Sure enough, if I go to the artist's page, the exact same album plays totally fine. They all display as not being in my library. When I add them to my library, they are immediately greyed out and won't play. But it still works fine if I stream it off the artist's page. Unfortunately it's an album in heavy rotation so this is a minor pain in the arse. I've never heard of this issue nor can I find anyone who's had it. Is there a way to fix it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2019 06:40 PM PST I'm trying to accept an invitation to join my moms family plan to use her iCloud storage. On my iPhone I open settings, click on my name, and then click "Invitations" which has me accept the offer then tells me that I can't accept it because I'm already in another family. When i go to the "set up family sharing" it's the getting started page so i know i'm not in a family. what can i do? i have an iphone 7+ looking to update to an XS [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2019 06:26 PM PST I downloaded Apple Music today and signed up for the 3 month trial. I saved a lot of songs to my library. I noticed some weren't downloading. I turned off the ICloud music Library tab under Music in settings. I turned it back on and then it would let me start downloading some to my phone. Well, I can download to a certain point, then it stops. I get a circle with a red square and then the ICloud icon pops back up. I have plenty of space and the wifi is fine. I don't understand why I can download to a certain point and then it stops. I have turned the phone off and on several times and it doesn't help. Any ideas or suggestions? [link] [comments] |
HDMI + Ethernet on 2013 MacBook Air via Thunderbolt? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 06:04 PM PST Will current Thunderbolt 3 hubs be compatible with the 2013 MacBook Air (which has a Thunderbolt 1 port, which was known back in 2012 as just Thunderbolt) or do I have to find an old Thunderbolt 1 hub, which wouldn't be called Thunderbolt 1 because that was the only version at the time? Will TB3 hub work with an adapter to the 2013 MBA? I would like a hub to add Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI out of the MacBook Air, but the combination of a Thunderbolt 1 (again just known as Thunderbolt back in 2013) HDMI adapter plus a USB Ethernet adapter is giving me slow (10 MB/s read) speeds. I figure if I can get Ethernet and HDMI both on the MBA's Thunderbolt 1 port, I'll get better Ethernet speeds that this failing USB adapter. [link] [comments] |
Weird fan spike & grinding noise Posted: 27 Feb 2019 06:03 PM PST Hi! I have a 2018 MacBook Pro that I picked up around a week ago, and I'm very happy so far. I was sitting on a chair, MacBook on my lap and I decided to stand up. At some point my tablet was underneath the laptop (with its lid open) and as I was lifting them, I heard a weird grinding noise and fans spinning at full speed for a couple of seconds. I checked iStat for fan speed stats, and as I suspected, the right fan ran way faster than required. Here are the fan speed stats: https://imgur.com/jVwPfFL Rightside Fan https://imgur.com/7ngK4xt Leftside Fan https://imgur.com/fOfJthA Left Airflow https://imgur.com/5XDgFrC Right Airflow https://imgur.com/Eohamdi Thunderbolt Left Proximity https://imgur.com/oTS9kVH Thunderbolt Right Proximity When I checked temperature stats, I saw there was a spike at that very moment, but I wasn't doing anything at that moment which would cause such a spike. So I know this is not normal and that this is a noise I've never heard of, but has anyone else experienced this? [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to run a 4K display off a 2011 iMac (Thunderbolt)? Posted: 27 Feb 2019 05:33 PM PST I guess technically I'm downgrading my office computer. Specifically I'm tired of plugging in my laptop at work so I just bought an old iMac to do permanent desk duty, a 2011 27". It has two Thunderbolt ports. I'm having trouble googling for this information because the search results are flooded with Thunderbolt 3 information. I know the spec sheet says this can only drive 2560x1600 displays but I'm honestly Not sure 4K even existed in 2011. Is there a way to use some kind of adapter to make this work - maybe Thunderbolt to HDMI? Or would I need to go crazy and use an egpu? I have a feeling I'll just take the monitor home and use it with my laptop when I'm home, but it would be kind of cool to have two 27" screens at the office. [link] [comments] |
Girlfriends iMessage location kept coming up as “location not found” Posted: 27 Feb 2019 05:14 PM PST My girlfriends location kept coming up as "location not found" even though I was talking to her on the phone. She gets like maybe 1 bar of service when we are at home but wouldn't her location be updated if we are talking on the phone? We are both confused about this. And if she had her location turned off, it would come as "location not available". I have a different provider so my service is fine there but I'm just wondering what would be causing the "location not found" issue. [link] [comments] |

MacBook pro won't finish booting (after logging in) Posted: 27 Feb 2019 10:44 AM PST Weird issue. Have a macbook pro (a1398) with 10.13.13 (I believe). I installed leapstart (some software to load books onto a popular little kids "computer") and had to allow it as system software. After I rebooted, it quickly goes to login screen, I can log in and the tatus bar shows up. It gets to 100% and stalls for hours. I've tried resetting pram, no luck I can't boot into safe mode for some reason I can boot to recovery but doesn't seem helpful Not sure what else to try? [link] [comments] |
