| Is it possible to block certain types of articles on my Apple news feed? Posted: 03 Feb 2019 09:46 PM PST I don't mean channels or news agencies. I mean type of news. I don't want to see a single thing about topics like maroon 5's Super Bowl performance, sports, grammy's, oscars, politicians posting photos or how a school teacher did something. I'm interested in news related to technology, international policy, investing, current societal affairs (as in Venezuelans fighting to overthrow a government, not what some Kardeshian is wearing), aka. Actual news. Using the dislike buttons and blocking certain publications doesn't really seem to work, judging by my current "top stories". If I'm supposed to have a uniquely tailored news experience that doesn't make me want to throw my laptop through the window- please never, ever assume that I'd think that any f.... sports game is more important than, for example: The announcement that the US and Russia are pulling out of the Nuclear accords... | How can I fix “cellular update failed”? (iPhone 6s) Posted: 03 Feb 2019 09:26 PM PST My phone currently has no service and there a triangle with an exclamation mark inside of it next to the no service. I got a pop up that said "cellular update failed, your iPhone cannot make and receive calls or access cellular data until it has been updated". I looked it up and tried the methods such as updating iOS, using airplane mode, taking out SIM card, resetting network settings but nothing has worked. What are my options? Thanks in advance! | Posted: 03 Feb 2019 03:13 PM PST So I was looking at maps and found a pin on a building near me that said "[company name] (Meghan's Work)" and I'm just curious as to why I know where Meghan works now? -no one in my contacts is named Meghan -I asked the other person on my iCloud account and she doesn't know a Meghan/doesn't have one in her contacts -it looks like an actual gray pin (like an uncategorized shop), not one from my contacts or anything Why am I seeing this? | Issue with audio and video on my iPhone Posted: 03 Feb 2019 08:20 PM PST Recently I updated to the latest iOS update and Youtube, along with playing Videos from Safari, have been acting up. Specifically for Youtube, the video I want to start watching will begin to play but the app will also play something over the video, I suspect its always an ad but i'm unsure. As for Safari, I was watching something on there but the video decided to buffer due to low reception so I gave up and went back to the home screen to select Reddit and read something when the audio from Safari started to play as if it had finished buffering. | iTunes opens automatically when I hang up a phone call when using bluetooth headphones Posted: 03 Feb 2019 05:38 AM PST When I hang up a phone call while using my Bose SoundSport bluetooth headphones, iTunes opens on my Macbook Pro 2013 and then gets pinned to my dock. EVERY. TIME. I don't know why this happens. I never use iTunes so I don't get why it opens automatically every time. Is there a way to make this stop once and for all?

| Posted: 03 Feb 2019 05:49 PM PST I was trying to make a bootcamp partitioning my Mac but the option to do one is grayed out. I asked for help a few days ago and haven't gotten any useful help. Here is a screenshot of just what is happening. (Nothing changes when I click the "OK", I just thought that may be relevant") But here is an image showing that I have plenty of space on my hard drive. I had a previous partition on bootcamp, but removed it because it had somehow used up 39of the 45 GB I gave it, despite practically downloading nothing in the Windows partition. Posted: 03 Feb 2019 05:14 PM PST I really only use the iPad for netflix and some "videos" using chrome, sits on my nightstand. I had a 12" pro and gave it to my son who could do more with it. So I am trying to get this md333ll/a up and running, but it seems within the app store that netflix/hulu/directvnow state they will not work with this device. | Added Apps Create an Alias (and confusion) Posted: 03 Feb 2019 04:57 PM PST I am on a Macbook Air using Mojave 10.14.2. In the past, when I would download an app to my computer, and clicking on the .dmg file, I would get a window that meant I should drag the app icon to my Applications folder. After dragging the icon to the Applications folder, I would see a little status window showing the progress of adding that app. For the past several months, after dragging the app icon to Applications, an alias of that app is created. I no longer see a status window as mentioned above. If the app I am installing is an update to an existing app, I would be asked if I want to replace one for the other. I don't see that anymore. If I delete the alias, and the downloaded app was an update, my update is gone. Next to the Alias folder in Finder it says Alias under Kind. I thought the Alias was just a bookmark of sorts, for the original program or file. Why has the process of adding of apps to my computer changed? It's very confusing, and I would like it to be simple, as before. [link] [comments]  |

| MacOS - Fullscreen YouTube no longer fullscreen Posted: 03 Feb 2019 07:41 AM PST MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 and Safari Version 12.0.3 (13606.4.5.3.1). I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011) Yesterday I noticed that on some YT videos, when I try to watch a video fullscreen I am getting a white section at the bottom of the video. It doesn't cover up the bottom section of the video though; it's as if YT is putting some info there that is being blocked by uBlock Origin or some other extension. I tried the same video in Chrome and it fullscreen'd correctly. The weird part is; I rebooted yesterday and tried the same video again in Safari and it worked like normal. So the rest of the day all YT videos played correctly. Then this morning I try a video and it once again has the white section at the bottom of the screen, but only in Safari. | Macbook Pro 2015 not turning on Posted: 03 Feb 2019 04:07 PM PST Yesterday I discovered that my mbp stopped turning on even though when i plug it into charge, the magsafe led indicator is still green which means the battery itself isnt dead. I attempted all sorts of keyboard combos to attempt at waking it up such as the SMC reset, fn+ctrl+cmd, holding the power button down for 10 secs, etc. I have pretty much tried it all and nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions? My mac is bought refurbished so no applecare which means an expensive fix at the apple store is something id like to avoid. Also id like to avoid pulling apart the macbook myself. | Posted: 03 Feb 2019 07:53 AM PST I recently got a replacement iPad Pro 2018 and I think this one might have some magnets loose on the side where the pencil goes. If I move the pencil around on the side of the iPad I can hear the magnets moving inside the iPad. | MacOS mojave on MacBook Pro 2018 corrupted? Btree error? HELP Posted: 03 Feb 2019 03:06 PM PST Just got off chat with apple support. I don't want to believe it's true but they may be correct, my macOS (running Mojave) was freezing while running the kernel task loader. After restarting from the most recent system updates and trying to login. Seen here After talking with apple support and getting this error after running first aid in recovery mode they told me the only thing i can do is erase the drive and start again. I haven't backed up in awhile and i really don't want to lose some recent files. Is this really the only way to fix this corruption? I can see the files when selecting restore and looking through my hard drive but i can't move them seen here Is there a way to get them to an external drive? Any and all help is appreciated. But my SSD, the only drive in my Mac, is only 500GB. All removable drives have been disabled. Same with network drives. Has anyone had this problem before? How can it be backing up more data than I have on the disk? Oh, for background, before this current backup I had to forcefully delete the last in progress backup and the local snapshots because they were corrupted. I just bought a Macbook Pro Retina 2015 15'' in Germany and the seller described that the keyboard layout is QWERTY but when I receive it it's actually a QWERTZ but with some keys which are US relevant. So when I choose US as a layout in the settings, the y and z are the other way around. I can't figure out which keyboard layout setting I have to choose. Here is a photo of the Macbook Pro Keyboard. | FaceTime on Mojave creepy behavior Posted: 03 Feb 2019 01:22 PM PST Is it just my Mac or does anyone else experience this where FaceTime randomly launches on your Mac and the camera is turned on? In FaceTime, it tells me that "FaceTime has not received any video from the connected camera. Restarting your computer may fix the issue". There's no call that is made, but it just gives me an unpleasant feeling in light of the recent Facetime privacy issue. FWIW, I have two Macs with Mojave, and they have the same issue.
