Weather App Icon Should Display Current Weather Posted: 03 Feb 2019 07:05 AM PST The calendar app icon shows the date; the clock app icon shows the time. The weather app icon should have the option to do the same. Edit: IRONICALLY the Apple Watch currently has this functionality (both a weather and temp complication) and even fetches this data FROM YOUR iPHONE's internet. No, it's not as energy intensive as one may think. [link] [comments] |
Why does most of Reddit hate Apple? Posted: 03 Feb 2019 09:08 PM PST Generally throughout most subreddits people have a big bias against Apple. Whenever someone remotely even suggests that Apple products are good or something about them is better than their competitors, they get downvoted by a lot. For example there was an AskReddit where the question was "What is clearly the superior brand of certain products?" and someone made a long comment about Apple and how they love there MacBook, actually giving good reasons and they got almost 40 downvotes and counting where as someone that just comments "Samsung" gets upvoted. It's really disappointing that people with Apple devices can't express their opinions without being called fanboys or iSheep and is just really annoying at this point. Don't want to start a war here but if anything, I think people that are big fans of Android or Windows are often worse than people that are big fans of Apple. For people that own Apple products and browse this community what are your thoughts on this? [link] [comments] |
How are apps still allowed to write a vague changelog? Posted: 04 Feb 2019 12:31 AM PST I dont understand how devs are still able to do this, i thought Apple was going to change their policy (last year?) on these vague changelogs that say "performance improvements and bug fixes" or shit like "mowed the lawn, added some bells/whistles", "keep automatic updates on so you dont miss a thing" I just hate updating apps that say this and they've noticeably changed the UI, included ads, changed to a subscription model or whatever. I prefer to know what changes an update bring so i can decide whether or not to update Edit - it was 10 months ago that Apple was supposed to change their stance on these useless changelogs /rant [link] [comments] |

Apple Watch fall detection will continue to work even when in Power Reserve mode Posted: 03 Feb 2019 05:44 AM PST I was out and about skiing today when my Apple Watch went under 20%. Although I have only used it for ~4 hours, cold weather messed up the battery somehow. Kicked it into Power Reserve mode and continued skiing. I was amazed when I felt some taps on my wrist after a messy fall. And there I saw the fall detection warning. I'm impressed! [link] [comments] |
You are allowed to make one tweak to an existing Apple product. What is it and why? Posted: 03 Feb 2019 12:41 PM PST My choice is incredibly dull, however, I would add a moderate GPU to the Mac mini so it can do light GPU tasks and power several high-res monitors without difficult. Overall, I am very happy with my Apple products. [link] [comments] |

MacBook Pro 13 inch 2017 Model lower Screen Crack. Posted: 04 Feb 2019 02:34 AM PST Hi guys, first time poster here. I have carelessly managed to get my Mac charger stuck in between my Mac when closing the lid and as a result, the bottom left of the screen is cracked. Anyone had any similar experience with screen repair that can give me a rough cost of repair?? A few hours drive from an Apple Store and need to know if worthwhile. Cheers! - Joe [link] [comments] |
iPhone XS Max Battery Case: After 2 weeks. Posted: 03 Feb 2019 06:07 PM PST I'd just like post my 2 cents on the Apple Battery case after a couple week of use. I'll start off with starting the overstated already obvious : this case is THICK and heavy, BUT in my own personal opinion it is completely tolerable. At its base, or humps it's a little thicker than your phone twice over. So getting by that honestly only took myself about 30 minutes to get used to. Others peoples opinions will obviously vary. As far as the usage has been; I've got nothing but good things to say so far. I am a fairly heavy user on my phone using it for work all day. This case easily gets me through the day and more. I do not have to worry at all that I will run out of battery at any point of my day or struggle to make it to an outlet. The smart features that embed themselves right into iOS are also just a beautiful treat as well. It's great to have all the info at the swipe of a finger. My hats off to Apple for creating such an 'abstract' looking case, but with a great feature set to compliment its iPhones. To me, totally worth the $179 plus tax (Canada... ) Feel free to ask any questions you may have, I can do my best to answer! [link] [comments] |

TIL you can browse safari tabs on iPad with cmd, shift, right or left Posted: 03 Feb 2019 05:24 AM PST As the title says. I'm rocking an iPad Air 2 on iOS 12.1.3 with Logitech keyboard. I mostly use ctrl+tab to move to the next open tab on safari. I also use cmd+numerals to jump between tabs. But sometimes you just want to go to the previous tab and there are so many open tabs that you don't know the number. Well you can use ctrl+shift+tab to go back one tab but that is over complicated. Simply use cmd+shift+left or right to cruise between tabs and if you want to jump to a specific one just use cmd+numerals I hope this makes sense :( [link] [comments] |
Apple TV playing “Passing Downtown LA” screensaver over and over. Posted: 04 Feb 2019 01:37 AM PST As title says. I have seen a constant stream of repeating DTLA views on tvOS 12.1.12. It is irritating af, and I have seen enough posted about this issue that it seems serious. Restarts don't stop it, they just fix it for a few cycles. Please fix the screensaver quickly. It is such a cool feature that the lack of variety is noticeable. [link] [comments] |
Does Gordon Kelly know any other headline for his stories? This <update> has a nasty surprise. Posted: 03 Feb 2019 06:27 AM PST He must use a template or something. Apple iOS 12.1.4 Release Has A Nasty Surprise If one were to follow his recommendations, I doubly anyone would have even got the first iPhone. It's nasty surprise would be no copy/paste! Granted, it's good to have a non geeky change log for things. And certainly there are some people who can't afford to get a bad update, but I don't think this helps. [link] [comments] |
