Weekly /r/iOSGaming Discussion - What have you been playing lately and what do you recommend? - January 07, 2019

    Posted: 06 Jan 2019 08:06 PM PST

Please use this thread to discuss whatever iOS games you've been playing lately. They don't have to be new games, they can be old games and they do not have to be iOS original titles!

As long as it's an iOS game it belongs in here. Make sure to put the name(s) of the game(s) in bold to make it easier for people skimming the thread to see what you're talking about, and if you'd like to make it really convenient turn the game name into a hyperlink that sends people directly to the App Store!

To keep track of the thread, the comments are sorted by "new" by default.

Online games with character upgrades and customization?

    Posted: 07 Jan 2019 09:33 AM PST

Offline Games with great character customisation?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2019 09:08 PM PST

Less about character skills/stats but more aesthetics - Specifically games like Death road to Canada, Stardew valley, and animal crossing (even though online but the sentiment) where your character is quite unique and varied - I especially love when you can make your friends, self, etc in them.

Even games like minecraft (of course) and things like WonderWorlds are pretty great to scratch that itch.

All the ones I've mentioned I've played and enjoyed so any suggestions are very welcome!

“The terror of Alien is brought to life in Alien: Blackout.” - Coming Soon

An absolute must for fans of “Tap” music type games and Guitar Hero type games.

    Posted: 07 Jan 2019 03:24 AM PST

If you like that style of game you guys 100% need to get Tap Studio 3. The only thing holding it back is the $2.99 price tag but if you aren't afraid to spend some money, this game is absolutely worth it. You can search for any song to play. As long has someone has made the chart for it, you can play it. You can also make your own chart for any song off of your Apple Music downloads. It's really really fun. The look of the menu kind of sucks but the gameplay is good, and that's all that matters, right?

Got my new iPhone X! Please recommend good games

    Posted: 06 Jan 2019 08:10 PM PST

Hello, I just got my new iPhone X 64gb! After owning iPhone 6 16gb for 3 years and never playing any good games, my mobile gaming scene is now on!

I have installed Civ 6, PUBG, Alto's Games, Monument Valley, Reigns, Stardew Valley, and Granny Smith.

Which games would you recommend to make good use of that crazy processor and screen? Any category is fine (Although I'm desperately searching for best racing game)

    Spike City review

    Posted: 07 Jan 2019 07:26 AM PST

Be quick, but think ahead. One wrong move and you'll start from the beginning.

Spike City is a fast paced action-platformer where your speed and ability to plan your next move are tested while escaping the ever rising pool of lava.

With simple swipe-to-move controls this game is easy to pick up and play right from the start. Simply swipe in the direction you wish to go and avoid any obstacles that block your path. Swipe in a direction and hold to stick to a wall or obstacle. There are various enemies to encounter on your race to the top, but a simple swipe through them will kill them and leave you to freely start climbing again.

Coin magnets, score multipliers, shields, and rocket boosts are available to pick up along the way, but be quick about it. Hesitate for too long and it's game over.

With a plethora of things to unlock and a level mode, this game is a great way to pass the time and just see how far you can go.

Spike City is free to play though there are in app purchases but they aren't necessary. So go ahead and give it try if you've got the time.

    Posted: 06 Jan 2019 04:03 PM PST

Basically I've been broke for a while so I was never able to get the game (always had bad phones). Finally got myself an iPhone but it looks like it's not available anymore. Is it still possible to play?

    Looking for recommendations

    Posted: 06 Jan 2019 01:46 PM PST

I'm looking for some games to kill time, I don't mind paying for them either. I enjoy roguelites and recently got into roguelikes due to cardinal quest two. I played a bunch of enter the gungeon, nuclear throne and binding of Isaac rebirth on pc. I enjoy games where I can sink hours in just doing runs where I get random gear and random encounters. Because of this I bought downwell and man is that game fun. If anyone can leave some recommendations for some games that you think I might enjoy please do. Feel free to ask questions! I'm open to anything!
