I used only my watch for 8 days, here's my experience! Posted: 11 Jan 2019 03:16 PM PST I use the S4 44mm with cellular Some stuff might be repetitive. This might be good to read if you're thinking about buying the AW. Disclaimer: This is not my first language. What I have learned: - When the Apple Watch gets too warm the cellular turns off. Using gps and phone call while charging caused it. - Can't google things. I had to rely on someone I can call and have them text me for example an address, phone number. - Dictation is surprisingly good and can be used in multiple languages. Well Siri is set to one language but if I have a conversation that is in another language I can set it to that. Super convenient. - The AirPods really complete the watch. without them it's not easy to be on the phone when being outside. Inside at home it's great but any loud environment you need headphones. - In my country (sweden) I have to have my iPhone (that is paired with the watch) on at all time (but not with me) to receive standard text messages. But iMessage works great. They do deliver even though it says it didn't for some reason. - I always snap a photo of things instead of writing them down. Now I have to carry a pen with me at all time. (at work) - Need to subscribe to the podcast if you want it to show up on your watch. Luckily I could do it on my iPad since I don't have my phone. Maps: Useful but limited. Easy if you know the address or if you have it on the contacts. Still works in the background with the vibrations even if you're on a phone call Conclusion: "The Apple Watch fulfills the main purpose of a phone without distractions" is probably the best way to put it. If you are mainly in the range of wifi and do less than 1 hour of cellular talk you can easily make it through the whole day. Instead of checking my email several times a day I now do it once a day on my computer as with most of the other social media stuff. This somehow makes my day better with fewer distractions. Because even with the apps on the watch you don't get the stupid notification saying "Karen has recently posted something" or "You haven't used this app in 5 minutes, are you sure you are okey?" This worked out better than expected and I'm gonna try to keep my phone free from unnecessary distractions and use it as little as possible because it just feels so much better. If you want the boring details of what my daily usage looks like please read "Detailed usage" otherwise just skip that part! Detailed usage: Day 1 I had around 60% left. I turned my phone off at around 11:00 am Day 2 I had to charge it around 16:00 in my car for about 30-40 minutes. But before that I did manage to get 19 calls and 30-40 minutes of reddit. In the end I was using the gps while driving and I was at 10%. So I had to charge it up to 39% and did some more calls and gps and then I still had a some juice left before bed. Conclusion is a full day out and a lot of phone calls you need a powerbank. Day 3 Stayed home most of the day (wifi). So late in bed this day with 50% on the clock. One call on cellular and one with wifi. Otherwise just reddit and texts. Day 4 So just another day with random usage. Conclusion is that I make it a whole day, especially if most of the hours is on wifi. Day 5 Full work day, So a total of 1 hour of phone calls and texting and some small stuff. I have wifi at work but none of the calls were FaceTime. Got home with 18% and just another full day on the watch and just as I go to bed it dies. Day 6 Full work day with less phone calls but more text and other stuff. In bed with 20%. Getting more used to not having a phone. I think I can survive this. Day 7 Got home from a full day of work with 22%. I think I had 2 phone calls this day (20-30 minutes in total). Did stream podcasts for about 2 hours with constantly pausing. With the usual texts and timers. Day 8 So same as all the other days basically except with a lot of phone calls so got home with 15% and started charging for 20 minutes before I went to pick up my phone, finally! I actually made it. Questions you might have: - Most phone calls have been done with AirPods. I don't know if that affected the battery life. - I'm not getting paid to do this. My phone is being repaired so I thought it would be fun to see if I could survive with only the watch. Do you think you could do a month with only your watch assuming it's with cellular? Can I make calls over wifi on a non-LTE AWS3? Posted: 12 Jan 2019 05:22 AM PST I'm considering an AWS3 GPS only, and I'm curious if there are apps to make calls when on a wifi network, if I've left my iPhone at home. Ex. with an app that lets one respond to WhatsApp messages (WatchUp, et al). My reasoning is that if I can make a WhatsApp call over wifi, using my iPhone, then I'm assuming it might be able to be done using just an Apple Watch, over wifi. Anyone know? EDIT: I went back on the Apple product page and saw a number to contact the company, so I did. Essentially the answer to my question is no. A GPS-only AW cannot use wifi, while away from one's iPhone, to place wifi calls. [link] [comments]
Parrity - A Proper Web Browser for Apple Watch! Posted: 11 Jan 2019 03:38 PM PST Hi, r/AppleWatch! I'm posting here to announce and discuss the official release of my Apple Watch Web Browser Parrity! I originally built it to fill a nagging desire of my own, expecting it would be short lived. But here we are, nearly a year later, and there is still no Safari for Apple Watch! So, after many requests and insistances, I decided to productize it, and put it out for all to use! I'd be happy to discuss it's development, it's usage, it's short comings, or just about anything else. And what I'd really appreciate from any of you is any feedback you'd be willing to provide. Thank you! [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Jan 2019 07:39 AM PST Is there a setting that allows the watch to delete the message, once ive deleted the message off the phone? If i delete a message on the phone, it remains on the watch till i manually delete it there as well. [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Jan 2019 04:39 AM PST I was wondering if it's possible for the Health Rings in the App/Apple Watch to read the data that gets added by a 3rd party source (from other smart watches or activity trackers)? [link] [comments]

install XCode and custom watch face through VirtualBox Posted: 12 Jan 2019 03:40 AM PST I've been trying to install all these cool custom watch faces on my Series 4 using a Win10 machine. I installed VirtualBox, Mojave OS, and XCode. Got the code up and running, but can not seem to mount my iPhone SE to the virtualbox OS guest. Has anyone been successful doing this? If so, how did you mount the iPhone? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2019 11:35 PM PST I was looking into getting a wooded link band and found some from a few companies. There's Ottm, epic watch bands and gearbest. In terms of quality, are they all similar? I think epic watch looks to be higher quality, but gearbest is also a lot cheaper. [link] [comments]

This has GOT to be a bug: notifications during workout Posted: 11 Jan 2019 11:12 PM PST I have turned on DND, disabled ALL activity notifications, put on DND during exercise, sacrificed 3 chickens, and yet I STILL get "Activity Rings CLosed" notifications during my workout. It drives me crazy. I am running latest watch iOS with last year's 38mm Apple Watch. Googling for 30 min turned up nothing. Please dear god someone help me. How do I shut this watch up during my workouts. Typically I could get 1-2 notifications during my workouts which is 1-2 too many (first world problems, I know) [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2019 10:53 PM PST So yeah title. I bought the first Apple watch, 44mm, stainless steel bracelet, etc, didn't like it very much because of how slow it was, so gave it to a family member and they had a sports band so I ended up keeping the bracelet strap. Looking at getting a new watch as I've heard they've improved a lot, what watch would the 42mm strap fit up to as I see the sizes have changed? Or should I just buy a series 4 and get a new strap? (Is there that much difference in series 3/4?) Thanks. [link] [comments]
Can someone help me with HeartWatch? Posted: 11 Jan 2019 10:14 PM PST I bought the app but am not sure how it works or what the circles mean. Do I need to have it installed on my watch? Can someone explain how to use the app and what the things mean? What are the benefits of using this app? [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2019 09:16 PM PST I just got this new watch yesterday and when scrolling through the complications when customizing watch faces it is really laggy and occasionally freezes for a couple seconds. Anybody else run into this? I'm on the latest software. It's just an aluminum 44mm. [link] [comments]
Series 3 - apple logo randomly displays for a few seconds and then works normally Posted: 11 Jan 2019 05:10 PM PST Anyone come across this? My watch still works fine and it doesn't reboot, just showing the logo with black background for a few seconds. [link] [comments]
App that tracks my daily travels? Posted: 11 Jan 2019 08:44 PM PST I run errands/deliveries throughout the day and sometimes I would like to go back to see how long it actually took me to go from point F to point G during my day. Is there an app that maps my travels throughout the day on a map where I can look at my path (and times) later on? Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jan 2019 08:28 PM PST I was thinking, since the ping iPhone is a tad loud if others are asleep and you still want to get your iPhone but without the loud noise, maybe it could have a setting to where your Apple Watch vibrates frequently when close and less frequently when further.
