    Need advice on purchase of MacBook Pro

    I have wanted a MacBook pro for a long time now, but it just never seems like the best time to buy. The 2018 models have a ridiculous price tag combined with the fact that I keep hearing about heating issues.

    Therefore I am tempted to buy an older MacBook pro model, maybe 2015. I want to use the MacBook for light editing, Music production and playing older games. Should I wait out and see if newer Pro models launches, or are one of the older models everything I need?

    Upgrading MacBook Pro 2010 help

    Might be a dumb question but I know nearly nothing about MacBooks other than the videos I've watched online, the one I have has a really old slow functioning hard drive and I'm planning on buying a SSD it's currently running snow leopard and I want to know if I download the high Sierra install to the new ssd before swapping out the old hard drive will it work? Will it install and run high Sierra?

    70 degrees celcius under light load??

    Hello. I have a 2.6 ghz i7 560x 32gb ram Macbook Pro 2018 15 in, and under 20% load (on battery), my Macbook runs at 70 degrees celcius. Is this normal? Or do I have a defective unit?? I will be using this laptop for a long time, so I cannot afford to have a laptop that has a broken cooling system. Thanks.

    Using the newest Macbook Air as a monitor

    Does anyone have any information if you can turn the newest Macbook Air into a scuffed monitor? It only has 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports and I can't afford a regular monitor. I'm trying to connect a console (PS4) that requires HDMI as far as I know.

    Are there any ways to get around this?

    Just ordered a Refurb 2018 Macbook pro..

    Just ordered a 2018 Macbook Pro 15". I set it to in-store pickup at a local apple store instead of having it shipped to my house. The pickup is scheduled for this Friday, wondering if anyone has done this before? Basically I'm wondering if apple stores carry refurb stock or if an actual unit is shipped to the apple store for pick up.

    tl;dr is there a chance the apple store can fulfil an in store pick up immediately or is there a specific refurb computer being sent to the apple store with my name on it.

    sorry for rambling..just excited for my new computer :)

    Increase Ram for VMs on MacBook Air

    I'm trying to see if I should buy a MBA. I want the apple ecosystem and I already have an iPad and iPhone.

    I can't spend 2K on a laptop. So if I buy the more economical one would I be able to increase the Ram? And by this I mean either using the SSD or USB. According to Crucial it's an 8Gig stick that's not removable. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Looking for a suitable Macbook for Xcode.

    I am having difficulty pinning down the correct macbook to use xcode with. I tend to lean toward the newer models. If this isn't necessary I would love to know. Basically, I ask. Will an old macbook with only a dualcore suffice? Or should I be looking at something more powerful.

    The only other program I would use is Logic. Any help would be great. I just do not know how demanding xcode is.

    Problem with MacBook Air on first day. Opinions?

    Just got my MacBook Air new from Apple yesterday. Maybe 15-20 minutes after setting it up and closing, I opened it back up and the screen was green and pixelated almost as if it cracked (sorry did not take a picture). I had to force shut it down and it was back to normal when I turned it back on. I used it for the most of the night and no other problems occurred, but it's concerning this happened on the first day. Not sure if this is something I should go back to Apple about or a weird occurrence that probably won't happen again. Has anyone experienced this and what do you think I should do?

    Can’t open a download

    Hello.. I'm trying to download a page for school, and it goes through the process and says successful. But then when I hit "close" it says "do you want to move the respondus browser to the trash?" And if you hit "keep" it just takes you back to the "successful" page. So I'm kind of stuck here. If I go to finder and open the link, it just takes me right back to the "start download" so I've downloaded it like 5 times.. and go through the process, but it's like a never ending cycle. Any advice?

    2015 MacBook Pro won’t turn on

    New to this sub and not computer-savvy.

    MacBook ran perfectly smooth for 4 years until last night when I tried to turn it on. I tried the shift/control/option/power button move and got nothing. I've held the power button down 10 seconds and got nothing.

    When I plug it into power, the green light on the charging cable illuminates.

    Backlit keyboard is dark.

    When I put my ear to it, I hear nothing.

    No startup noise.

    Apple logo is dark.

    Caps Lock key light doesn't respond.

    Assuming I am f'd, is it best to take it to the Apple store or a separate establishment? I don't have AppleCare and bought this from Apple's refurbished store. It was a beast throughout school and has been used a ton since.

    2018 mbp touchbar battery life sucks

    Is it just me or the battery life is really bad on the touchbar 2018 model?

    I cannot work more than 2-2.30 hours before my battery dies.(brand new computer btw) is this normal? I thought it was because of chrome and switched to safari for a day ( which was painful cause of terrible dev tools on safari) and it only improved 5 to 10 minutes.

    (I have Chrome and WebStorm always open) No apps on login.

    Caps Lock button works really bad after two days of usage

    Bought non-tb MBP a few days ago and I'm in love with it.

    Howfuckingever, my caps lock button went crazy today. The thing is it does work if you press it with sufficient effort, but when you press it like other keyboards it doesn't seem to react 4 times out of 5.

    I treat the machine with love and blah blah, yet this happens. What should I do? I don't have Apple Store in my country and am not so sure about authorized resellers.

    Possible to find my jailbroken Macbook?

I didn't have find my macbook or whatever activated because this was a work laptop (dumb i know). If they logged in and somehow logged me out, am i out of luck? Thanks!!

    anyone else have an issue when you turn on an apple mouse it makes your cursor invisible?

    When I mouse over the dock it will come back but it seems to definately be triggered when the apple mouse is turned on

    Having problems with a MacBook Pro 2010

    So the MacBook had a messed up battery after I replaced it everything turned on and worked fine but it runs ridiculously slow and freezes for almost everything I do, it's running on OS X 10.6.8 every time I try upgrading to El Capitan it tells me it couldn't download towards the end of it, my question is how do I speed up this computer and update it properly?

    Movie Trailer Software

    Hi! When I had a Macbook Pro 2011, it came with a software that looked like a catalog of recent movies and you could watch the trailers... does anyone remember the name of the app? it still exists? Id love to have a catalog like that to choose what to watch :(

    Should I use a keyboard protector?

    I have the MacBook 12 inch with the new keyboard. Not a big fan but I can deal. I've heard issues with dust falling into keyboards which is hard to fix. I've been using a keyboard skin to protect them but it's really annoying...

    For anyone who doesn't use a protector - how are your keyboards holding up? Should I just YOLO and remove mine?
