Is it just me or is autocorrect becoming more aggressive and even changing actual words?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2019 09:49 AM PST

This morning I typed "finalize" correctly and it changed to "fibula even". I've never typed the word fibula ever before this post, so that's ducking stupid.

PSA: [UK] If your iPad Pro 2018 is bent and you take it into an Apple Store for repair, their diagnostic tool will lock and label the bend as accidental damage, taking a strike from Applecare+ or a full replacement cost.

    Posted: 11 Jan 2019 03:12 AM PST

EDIT3: I'm aware that it sounds like I'm speaking on behalf of all the stores. I'm really not, this could be on a per case basis but I formatted it this way to spread the message of what COULD happen.

As the title suggests, you might be SoL if you have a bent iPad Pro. I was made aware that the staff had a conference call and bent iPads will be dealt as accidental damage.

Though I didn't speak with the manager in this issue as I had no time, but might be lenient on a per case basis.

I'm trying to contact Apple support now to see if they can replace it under Apples Limited Warranty and going along this.

Will create a new post with the outcome, but very disappointed to be told that the damage was accidental. I have Applecare+ but I don't want to use a strike for a manufacturing defect.

EDIT: Since people can't read comments, here's some backstory. The iPad was purchased as a gift for me from my uncle in early November. It was bought before Apples extended return period. Come present day, I opened the iPad and proceeded to use it (like a normal human being) and did not check for faults. Now, let's be realistic, who in the general population would check for bends on a product from a company like Apple (or any company for that matter).

EDIT2: I remember the Genius saying that they recently had a conference call and that anything like this matter would be deemed as accidental. On her iPad, the option was 'Enclosure-Bent', and would default to accidental damage.

Is pausing while recording video so hard?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2019 07:27 PM PST

It's 2019. Maybe I'm missing something but I was recording video and wanted to pause the recording and couldn't do it. I pause video all the time on my Google Pixel but I can't seem to do it at all on my iPhone. I apologize if this is something that I am overlooking but I can't seem to pause video on the stock app. If you can't do it on the stock app is there one that's good at shooting video? I don't mind paying for it.

    Nike+iPod to Apple Watch

    Posted: 11 Jan 2019 11:23 PM PST

I just found this in a junk drawer. I got the Nike+iPod Sports Kit when it came out in 2006. I'm not a avid runner, but I run as much as I can. When I got the sports kit, I connected it to my iPod Nano and it blew me away. Running with music and a pedometer. I was excited to start tracking my runs and seeing my progress.

Amazing how far we've come with everything that can be done with an Apple Watch and AirPods.

Oblong, a simple arcade game, is now free

    Posted: 12 Jan 2019 01:52 AM PST

    Hey Reddit!

I've been working on an iOS exclusive game in my free time after school.

The game simply requires you to drag the screen and avoid enemies, whilst also seeing how long you can last.

The game features haptics, 3D touch, local notifications, the ability to share, stats and sounds.

I'd love it if you would check it out, and give some honest feedback! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/oblong/id1448715048?mt=8

USB C Monitor Charges MacBook Pro when off?

    Posted: 12 Jan 2019 12:12 AM PST

Anyone have a USB C monitor that can charge their laptop (not the Ultrafines)? Something like the LG 27UD88 or the Dell S2718D. Does the monitor continue to charge your laptop if you turn the switch on the monitor off, but leave the laptop plugged in? What about if I switch inputs (i.e. another PC using a different output on the monitor), but leave the Macbook connected to the monitor via usb c - will it still charge?

Does anyone still use an iPad Air 2?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2019 06:24 AM PST

I got my iPad Air 2 as a gift in 2014, and I still use this iPad.

The main reason I still use this thing is because it is simply the best valued iPad out there. Fast processor, great display, and thin and light body in a reasonable price.

I use my iPad for doing essays and my homework on the go. I can say that this is the best homework machine you can buy today. Pair it with a keyboard, and you get a nice simple laptop.

I think I will use my beloved iPad for 5 more years.

Does anyone still rock this awesome product?

[Question] iPhone 6S+ not waking up immediately when I press the home/power button

    Posted: 12 Jan 2019 02:42 AM PST

    Hey r/apple,

I recently bought an iPhone 6S+ and it works quite well but it has this one issue that's driving me nuts... The issue is that the device doesn't always wake up immediately from sleep (i.e black screen) when I press the home/power button. Sometimes it wakes up on the first press while on other occasions, it takes 10-20 seconds before waking up. Is there a fix for this?

The device is currently running iOS 10.3.2 and I'd really like to keep it on iOS 10 if possible.

    Thanks, Aurora

Beyond frustrated with this storage issue

    Posted: 11 Jan 2019 08:06 PM PST

Purchased a brand new iPhone Xs in 64GB telling myself I stream most content, so storage won't be an issue. Now within less than 48 hours of ownership, "System" is now occupying nearly a third of my device storage, leaving me with a little less than half if my remaining storage. I'm coming from a 128GB iPhone SE, which I never came close to filling up. I've since deleted many of the files on that phone (mostly lossless audio, but I still keep my iPod for those).

I understand the stock storage options have been updated, but I should at least be able to utilize most of this storage. Their fine print at the bottom explains that these files should only occupy 10-12GB, yet they're using double that.

I've contacted support about the issue and I've reset my device and the issue is still apparent. I have no clue what this is related to, or if it's just an initiative for users to buy more storage... Needless to say, I am disappointed that a significant of my device storage is occupied by unknown files... At this point, they might as well sell smaller storage options if the space isn't user-accessible out of the box.
