Now, I'd be lucky to open photoshop on the thing. I really need something that's powerful enough to hold up to the same amount of use (video editing, after effects, motion, graphic design) and still be (semi) affordable. I like macbooks, but I'm willing to get an iMac if it well help with the price for the amount of processing power I need. | Tips to make the most of fully entering the Apple ecosystem. Posted: 27 Dec 2018 06:18 AM PST Going to pick up my first iPhone this morning after having been an Android guy up until now. I do have an iPad mini and a MBP, so I had mostly been using Google services (Gmail, Maps, Keep, Chrome) to keep everything as synced as possible. However, part of the move to an iPhone is to try and move away from using too many Google services. I don't think I can give up my gmail (which I realize is counterintuitive) but I think the rest I should be able to switch. Should I simply switch my default mail app to the 'mail' client? Or should I download Gmail? Do I sign in to all services with my Apple ID and it will all sync up the same way Google works? Apologies in advance if this is all very obvious [link] [comments]  |
| MBP A1502 flashing folder with question mark problem. Posted: 27 Dec 2018 06:42 PM PST There's no indication that it had any problems. It booted fast yesterday and when I woke up today, a flashing folder with a question mark appeared when I tried to boot. I can't go into safe mode. Resetting the smc is a failure. The internet recovery option works but when I go into disk utility only one drive can be found disk0: os x base system. After looking at some articles in the internet, it may have something to do with the flex cable or the ssd itself? What are the other options I have before getting it diagnosed/buying a new hard drive? I am far from the nearest legit apple repair shop and it would be deposited there for about a month or two before it can get fixed. So I need to exhaust every option I have before doing that. Also, where can I find info for my mac since obviously I can't access About My Mac? The only details I have is the model and the serial number. Thank you so much! [link] [comments]  |

If i am watching a movie on netflix and i move my screen, the stream freezes for like 1 second. It only happens when i am using chrome. I have noticed it also happens while i am playing football managers. If i move my mac, the screen freezes. I don't know what to do. Could this be a Ram problem? [link] [comments]  |
| Way to delete duplicate photos on an iPhone or iPad Posted: 27 Dec 2018 09:37 PM PST I have a ton of pics on my phone and I'm trying to clean them up… Yes, I'm trying to figure out the right storage solution such as amazon photo... but in the meantime, I know I have duplicate photos and I'm trying to find an easy way to locate them and delete them. I know I've saved pictures multiple times via text or email, which just adds more photos. But o never remember if I save a pic already or not. All the research I find recommend downloading various apps to help… I'm not too keen on downloading an app to do this, is there another way? | Posted: 27 Dec 2018 09:27 PM PST Hi! This is probably a dumb question (sorry in advance). My MacBook Pro (13-inch, Retina, early 2015) took a pretty bad fall and the screen split. It looks like this. It's the LCD that's cracked, right, not some other issue? The outer layer of glass is definitely still intact. | Have MacBook Pro 2011 15 inch 2.3ghz i7 Flashing question mark folder :( Posted: 27 Dec 2018 05:07 PM PST When I start it, I get the grey screen with flashing question mark folder. Things I have tried: command R: Internet recovery, recognizes my wifi, and loads the progress bar, then... blank grey screen, fans run very high. Option: Shows USB thumb stick with OS install on it, I click it, apple logo with progress bar, then... grey blank screen. (This is all showing in low resolution, very thin green lines across screen.) PRAM reset SMC reset Removing ram and inserting only one 2gb stick. Replaced hard drive Replacing hard drive cable and bracket. Replaced thermal paste Single user mode does not work Verbose mode does not work Safe mode does not work. Am i missing something or is my logic board toast? | iPhone XS Max front facing camera not working Posted: 27 Dec 2018 02:52 PM PST So I got an IPhone XS Max for Christmas everything was fine on that day, but the next day (26th) I woke with it saying Face ID isn't available to work on my phone and ultimately my front facing camera isn't working. I was kinda confused and looked up some solutions. Some where like reboot your phone, reset settings, and ultimately resting the the whole phone. I've done all these things nothing is working. so I brought it to the Verizon store (because I needed to get a case anyways) the person working there told me nothing is wrong with the phone and it's a problem with software(and it's should be fixed within a couple days) she also told me it was a common issue that a lot of people where having, but I haven't seen anyone reporting this issue at all. If anyone knows the next steps to take (just wait, bring it to the apple Store, etc.) any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]  |
| Move Live Photos from one photo library to another (mac) ? Posted: 27 Dec 2018 08:36 PM PST Hi all! So, I have two photo libraries on my Mac (running Mojave, latest updates, etc). I have a "Family Library" which is essentially my long term storage library. I then have my "iCloud Photo Library" which is just the library that is, you guessed it, my iCloud photo library. My work flow is simple, I move photos from my iCloud Photo library once every couple months as the iCloud Library starts getting bigger. I create albums and such on my non-iCloud library for long term storage and organization. Quite easy, iCloud library for recent photos and my non-icloud library for organized long term storage. My question is this. How can I keep Live photos from being turned into still images when I want to move them from one photo library to another? Are there any work arounds for this? I've tried an app call PowerPhotos which lets you move photos between libraries, but unfortunately, it just moves the still image, not the live photo. Thanks! [link] [comments]  |
| Macbook Pro notifications not disappearing Posted: 27 Dec 2018 04:36 PM PST I have a 2012 Macbook Pro running on High Sierra. Recently (like just in the last two days), the little notification popups that appear in the top righthand corner (the ones that let you know you have updates available, an incoming FaceTime call, etc.) have been becoming frozen up there. It's totally unresponsive and clicking either the "ignore" or "accept" has no effect. I've been able to get rid of them by opening up the corresponding app and dealing with the problem that way, but it's a nuisance and I'd rather not have to do that. I have a GSM unlocked iPhone 6s Model A1688 (which, as far as I know, ISN'T Japanese) that I got on Christmas I have tried using the mute/vibrate switch and it still makes the noise. I've also tried lowering my volume, and even using Assistive Touch to mute. No luck I know Live Photo stops it, but it still makes a tone and it doesn't really help with apps like Instagram and Snapchat. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? [link] [comments]  |

| Upgrading from 10.6.8 to 10.7 problem in Mac App store. Posted: 27 Dec 2018 01:29 PM PST I have a 2008 iMac. I want to upgrade to El Capitan but I need to install Lion first. I bought Lion from the Apple store and it was all going smoothly until I enter my redeem code. I get an error saying I must agree to Apple's terms and conditions. I don't see a box or anything else to click on to agree. I've updated my billing/address info and rebooted several times. I've seen lots of threads relating to the iPhone on this T&C issue. | Over Heating and Fans Running on MacBook Pro late 2013 Posted: 27 Dec 2018 07:01 PM PST I have a 15 inch Late 2013 MacBook Pro with 16gb of ram, intel core i7 and an intel 4000, running Mojave. I have found that lately it gets quite hot, around the top of the keyboard and will radiate down towards the bottom where my palms rest, which results in the fans running, and sometimes very loudly. This occurs even when I have 2 tabs open in safari while the Spotify app is running too. I check my Activity Monitor, and it says that safari is always using the most, yet I'm only doing simple things like browsing reddit or watching youtube, or typing an assignment in Google Docs. Is there an issue? I have seen a few videos saying that applying thermal paste might help, but I don't want to do anything without knowing if this is truly an issue. Many websites tell me to just check Activity Monitor, and close the largest process in CPU, but 90% of the time, the largest process is WindowServer, then Safari, then Activity Monitor etc. has anyone else experienced this? and have you fixed it? | Can I Use a PC to Backup a Broken iPad? Posted: 27 Dec 2018 12:50 PM PST My wife's iPad is messed up. It powers on fine, but the touchscreen is non-responsive. It won't let you type the passcode or move the slider. I have tried holding power and home buttons. I see the Apple logo and it restartts. But the problem persists. So I'm going to do a full factory reset (unless anyone knows how to fix this without having to wipe my wife's data). And I need to backup her data before I do it. I tried all my family's devices and that menu came up. I've tried restarting. When I connect I type in the passcode it connects then disconnects and that menu doesn't come up. I managed to log back in on my phone, but I am unable to log in on my computer. Every couple hours, it will ask me to login to my iCloud, and after I enter my password, the two-factor authentication gives me a 6-digit code to enter, following my password. However, there is no spot for me to enter my password/code. It is only the iCloud management screen, and I am for some reason unable to figure out what to do. [link] [comments]  |
