Not impressed with Spotify's Watch App.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2018 02:11 AM PST

Everyone spent so long waiting for a Spotify watch app, and had high hopes when they bought and shut down Spotty. Then after years of development they go and release what is basically a media controller that can't even store or play music from the watch. I wish they hadn't have bothered and just let third party developers carry on doing it.

    Odd vibration pattern

    Posted: 17 Nov 2018 06:41 AM PST

Hi, I have been using the apple watch series three for about a year now but I recently started to wonder if my watch was vibrating differently. I noticed it was different when I compared it with my friends watch.

I believe the normal vibration pattern is a single 'zzzzzzz' for any alert from the watch. However all of my alerts have been in a pattern ' ZZZZZZ Zz zz,' bassically one medium length vibe followed by two "blips." It vibes like that whether I get one alert, or 5 alerts regardless of which application. Is this normal?

Im currently using series 3 aw and Im on the latest update. Its been like this since aw3.0 or whatever update the series 3 came with.

    Using ONLY the cellular watch.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2018 03:52 AM PST

Hi, I've been carrying a Nokia 3310 for the past 7 months. before that, I carried the iPhone X for 5 months. For me, smartphones with their big displays feel too bulky. Granted, I only keep an iPhone 5s at home for two factor authenticator apps. Though for my average day to day use, They are packed with unnecessary features I don't need.

I only need a mobile phone to text and call. Then I woke up in the future, we now have watches which fit on our wrist that can receive calls and texts on their own. I can easily see myself using some airpods to make calls and the drawing to type characters is a perfect replacement to sent short texts like I do on my 3310.

My question is: Can I run the Apple watch series 4 with cellular standalone?
(note: I don't care about not being able to take photos, I just want a straight answer)

How do you make the Siri watch face useful?

    Posted: 17 Nov 2018 07:58 AM PST

I tried it for a week, thinking it would at least suggest workouts to start since my schedule is pretty much the same every weekday, but it doesn't do that at all.

I have everything except breath and photos enabled, but all I see is my calendar and resting heart rate, both of which are useless since I don't need to know my whole day or my heart rate all the time. When the day is over I just see a stupid greeting that I don't care for.

Or is this really the limit of its capabilities?

Control Music on iPhone from the Watch?

    Posted: 17 Nov 2018 07:51 AM PST

Toying with the idea of getting a Series 3, but I had heard that Apple removed the ability to browse and control music on your iPhone. My music library is bigger than what the watch could hold locally, and I am not interested in having to deal with streaming just to play music that's already downloaded to my iPhone.

Did Apple ever add this functionality back? How does music control work these days?

    Thanks.

The (PRODUCT)^RED band is really nice!

    Posted: 16 Nov 2018 08:55 AM PST

What is the best aftermarket band that will not make me go broke!

    Posted: 17 Nov 2018 06:46 AM PST

Help please! My factory band for my watch is starting be a bit meh, so I want to get a new one and preferably get a couple so I have options.

What are some aftermarket bands that won't break the bank, and where do I buy them? (Australia)

Any smart alarm app that works well enough?

    Posted: 17 Nov 2018 06:14 AM PST

I know many people have asked this already, but apps evolve over time so hopefully some of them now are good enough to actually wake me up in a light sleep phase. The stats about sleep data are a plus.

I have tried Pillow, and it seems like it doesn't really work (sometimes the alarm doesn't go off at all), and today I stumbled upon one of their official FAQ questions where they explain that smart alarm doesn't actually work with the watch because they cannot do real time analysis with its data. Plus, they claim they cannot implement haptic feedback for the alarm. The reason for both is apparently Apple's limited API.

This sounds a bit like bullshit because other apps offer at least the haptic feature. I downloaded some of those alternatives but honestly I don't want to try them all out, especially because some require signing up.

So, can anyone recommend a good smart alarm app, that just works? I used to have a jawbone and I was happy with it, it'd be quite a pity if a watch 6 times more expensive could not offer the same functionality.

Sorry for the long post, I'm just quite pissed about apps promising and not delivering at all.

Got my first Apple Watch. S4 Nike+ with Sport loop.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2018 05:55 AM PST

I've been lurking here for quite some time even though I didn't have one. I couldn't really justify buying it (due to high costs where I leave), but I've been to the US last week and decided that was time. Couldn't be happier.

[Question] Siri unable to find friends?

    Posted: 17 Nov 2018 05:03 AM PST

With my S0 and watchOS 4 (don't know if I used it on beta watchOS5) I could use Siri to inquire about the location of contacts. Now when I inquire with my S4 and watchOS5 Siri tells me to continue on my phone.

Is this the new norm or a bug?

It is possible access control center and Notification Center from anywhere in the Apple Watch.

    Posted: 16 Nov 2018 09:06 PM PST

Initially when I used my watch, I was shocked they control and Notification Center are inaccessible from within apps, then I found out how to do that.

When I was playing around with my series 4, I noticed that if u tap and hold on the bottom edge of the Apple Watch, even if any app is open, it will open the control center. Same for the Notification Center.

Hope this helps you use your watch more efficiently, because they are integral parts of WatchOS.
