What's worse than Siri on iOS? Siri on MacOS. Posted: 18 Nov 2018 03:49 PM PST Me: "Play podcasts" Siri: "Sorry, I can't play that right now.", then she opens iTunes and starts playing podcasts. Me: "Quit iTunes" Siri: *gives instruction on how to close an app on iOS* [link] [comments] |

MEMs and why helium disabled iPhones. Posted: 18 Nov 2018 08:19 PM PST This video was posted earlier and I find it extremely informative. The original thread about the MRI installation killing iPhones left me with more questions than answers and I feel like this really helps me understand what's happening. [link] [comments] |

will apple pay cash make a dent in venmo with peer to peer payments? Posted: 18 Nov 2018 08:32 AM PST I've just started using apple pay cash for peer to peer payments with friends that have ios and it works great, i like it much more than venmo. Only drawback is not all my friends have ios devices, but for those who do its much faster when sending money. [link] [comments] |

Is that a new record? 50 cycles, 71.1% of battery Design Capacity left (Service Battery) Posted: 18 Nov 2018 08:12 AM PST I am the owner of a 13" MacBook Pro 2016. My limited warranty expired around 2 or 3 weeks ago and today, I received the fateful Service Battery notice. I only realized how bad were my numbers when I did some research on this subreddit. I am devastated. I took so much care of that laptop because I know I couldn't afford anything more. Also being based in Poland. There are no Apple Stores here, only Authorized Service Providers. Replacing my phone (iPhone SE) battery took a week, I can't even imagine for a laptop. Now some question to you folks who went through this change.

LG 22MD4KA-B Ultrafine and My Mac decision Posted: 19 Nov 2018 02:42 AM PST I currently have a 2013 i5 4gb 128gb base model MBP. It is really starting to show it's age. I had a 2011 MBP totally spec'd out, as that MBP was upgradeable, I gave it to my niece two years ago as she was going to college and i knew it would last her a while longer (the beast is still running) I figured my partner who passed had a 2013 MBP, i figured it was newer so id be ok with that. Sadly how wrong i was! I had zero idea I couldn't upgrade it what so ever. Well, I just got a 12.9" iPad Pro with the keyboard cover and for most things, its serving its purpose much better than my MBP. Though now i have a good portable device I still need to "desktop" for things like downloading torrents, burning cd's (yea I still do that now and than), video editing and putting on discs etc. I really wanted to go with an IMac but they have not been refreshed in ages! So I thought I'd look into going the Mac mini route, though when i saw the prices of displays i gave up hope and said i would wait for a refresh imac. Though I came across woot (owned by amazon) occasionally having refurbished Lg Ultrafine displays on sale, but they sold out. I tweeted woot over the weekend when they would get more, and low and behold they tweet me back saying go take a look on their site for their big Holliday shopping event, sure enough the monitor was back on sale. They didn't have the 27" 5k for $650 that they've had in the past but they had the 22" 4K one for $270 Link: lg 22md4ka I figured its in the stars that im suppose to get a mini, I grabbed the monitor at that price, also got a Sunix udp2018 card for my pc so I can use the monitor with my 1080ti rig, and also the mini. I think that's a incredible bargain for someone getting the Mac mini and dont have a monitor, Id say grab one! I also scored a fantastic deal on NEW Magic Keyboard and Magic TrackPad 2 sealed both for $150 this weekend.. So, so far my build is KB +trackpad = $150 LG Monitor =$285 (tax) And my Mac mini build with tax and AppleCare will be $1,700 Grand Total $2,135 (mini with I7, 8gb ram, 512 ssd, and 10gbit Ethernet) Plus $260 for 32gb mem upgrade, $2395 Wondering besides the smaller display, if that is a good build? I can always add down the road a gigabyte amd is 580 egpu for $400, would this build be way better deal, or could i get more in that price range $2400 out the door for a different product? Thoughts? Posted: 18 Nov 2018 07:20 AM PST Since the AirPod Case is rightfully minimalistic, it has no way to communicate with the iPhones, but it does. When AirPods are in it, the AirPod send the information about the case. The battery widget should show the last known AirPod Case battery life percentage, apple could have the battery blue to show that it is not up to date, but the last known to date. [link] [comments] |
Saving movies in iMovie is … special. Posted: 18 Nov 2018 09:10 PM PST You'd think File > Save, or File > Export but you'd be thinking wrong. To save a movie you need to File > Share > File… How did this happen? [link] [comments] |
Apple Watch 3 Swimming capability Posted: 18 Nov 2018 04:06 PM PST I am a competitive swimmer and swim in the morning everyday. How does the Apple Watch in chlorinated water ( do I need to get some sort of protective case), how deep can it go, and how long should I keep it in the water? [link] [comments] |
[Suggestion] Allow custom tones for Notifications Posted: 19 Nov 2018 01:12 AM PST I made my own custom tones for my phone prior to getting my first watch. Now I never hear it go off because of my damn watch :( [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Nov 2018 11:29 AM PST Just a thought, might not be relevant, but I'm thinking about why Apple might revert the iPad's edges back to the flat design of the first iPad. Having owned the first and now the latest iteration, I see now how much easier it is to hold the iPad with those edges, especially laying in bed. It feels like a better grip and considering it's lightness, it feels easier to hold without feeling compelled to use your thumbs to cover the bezel and part of the screen. I believe Apple did this to reduce user abrasion and any sort of dissatisfaction a user might feel being forced to cover the screen just to use the device. I don't see this dedication in many other major brand names. What other touches like this have you noticed in Apple products? [link] [comments] |
