Posted: 02 Oct 2018 09:25 PM PDT I just upgraded to Mojave a few days ago and was pretty happy with it thus far. One major annoyance though is that the nightshift mode in Safari does not work when a Youtube video is in full screen mode. I.e., if nightshift is on, everything has the familiar yellowish tint in the evening hours. Also works fine for watching youtube in the browser. However, as soon as I make the youtube video full screen the nightshift mode seems to turn itself off for while the video runs in full screen. This is extremely annoying ... I am not sure if it is a feature or a bug because I can imagine someone thinking that videos only look good in non-nightshift mode or sth like that. But this really defeats the purpose of nightshift. Any idea how to prevent it from doing that? [link] [comments]
MacOS Mojave Time Machine Restores/Migrations Fail Posted: 02 Oct 2018 09:59 PM PDT Hey folks! I recently upgraded to Mojave from High Sierra and let Mojave continue my backups. At some point, I decided to do a fresh install and let the Migration Assistant (first boot) transfer my files. Several times, the Migration Assistant would crash. To get past this crash, I would have to uncheck/check one of the categories that could be transferred. When it actually got to transferring, it would go through the entire process and upon reboot, warn me that a bunch of files were not transferred. I even tried doing the Time Machine Restore through booting into recovery, but that too would toss up messages about my drive disconnecting. I have verified my backup drive is in good health. I have used multiple tools and done multiple tests to verify that files are not getting corrupted on the drive. I resorted to an older backup that was from High Sierra. This backup restores fine to Mojave. I figured that my first backup got corrupted when Mojave took over. So, this time around I decided to create a fresh backup in Mojave. I wiped the drive and Time Machine successfully created the backup. Upon trying to restore this fresh backup via First Boot Migration Assistant or Time Machine Recovery, this backup too fails. I am led to believe that Time Machine Backups done in Mojave are broken. For kicks, I cloned my working High Sierra backup to my first backup drive. The High Sierra made backup works fine and restores fine. What the heck is going on with Mojave? I've come across multiple posts about Time Machine Backups failing creation, but nothing about restores. [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Oct 2018 11:31 PM PDT I'm using Macbook Pro 2016 15" lowest configuration. On High Sierra I got a solid 7 hours and 50 minutes from 100% until my mac is dead. After updating to Mojave, the number drops to about 6 hours 50 minutes. I would like to know how battery life change after updating to Mojave from you guys ! [link] [comments]
Download old Safari Technology Previews Posted: 03 Oct 2018 02:00 AM PDT Is it possible to download old versions of Safari Technology Previews somewhere? I'm specifically looking for Safari Technology Preview 51 that was the last version to support legacy NPAPI plug-ins. I need Safari to support for SharePoint plug-in to access certain old SharePoint sites at my work. Running an old version of Safari Technology Preview is the only solution I can think as it's impossible to downgrade from Safari 12 that removed the plugin support. I already tried searching a download link from Google but without any luck. [link] [comments]
Is there any app that mirrors the iPhone notifications? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 01:11 PM PDT So when I get a notification on the iPhone, it shows up on my Mac too. [link] [comments]
Enable Font Smoothing in Mojave? Posted: 03 Oct 2018 01:10 AM PDT Here they show that it was possible to reenable FontSmoothing in Mojave. Is this activating sub pixel font smoothing, can this still be possible? Can someone confirm this with two screenshots in the final release? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Pashua Mac: [Bash scripting] I'm confuse as to how Pashua runs on start up using their examples. Posted: 03 Oct 2018 12:21 AM PDT Pashua (via their examples) runs an extra bash script called What I want to do is eliminate that script ( Ideally, cocoadialog (another macOS GUI app) uses a simple variable string like so: Is it possible to make it as easy as this for Pashua? Safari created password but can't find it in keychain Posted: 02 Oct 2018 12:26 PM PDT Just got a new MacBook and just signed up for a new site and let safari suggest and create a password for me. I have same iCloud account on my iPad but when I go to the site on there and try to log in, there's no way to fill in username and password from what's been syncd on Mac. I checked the "passwords" tab in safari on the Mac and the site I signed up for isn't listed. Is there anyway to force it to save the password in keychain etc? The problem is as safari created it, I don't know what it is to log into the same site elsewhere. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Singe upgrade o Mojave Magic accessories keep disconnecting randomly Posted: 02 Oct 2018 10:39 AM PDT Never had this issue on High Sierra. I have a Magic Keyboard 2 and Magic Trackpad 2. Bluetooth keeps disconnecting randomly, they are totally unreliable now. I tried resetting the Bluetooth module, it didn't help. Anybody has this problem ? [link] [comments]
Two-finger click = open link in new tab? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 07:18 PM PDT I thought I had my MacBook setup to open a link in a new tab with a double finger click. However, after getting it back from Apple for repairs, it no longer works... Any way to make it so a two finger click in Safari open a link in a new tab? [link] [comments]

What's the "adprivacyd" process? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 03:30 PM PDT Little Snitch told me this adprivacyd process wants to connect to "bag.itunes.apple.com" What's that? [link] [comments]
MacOS High Sierra "focus follows mouse" Posted: 02 Oct 2018 06:53 AM PDT New to Mac because of new job. Been a windows users for years and miss the ability of "focus follows mouse". Ideally, I would like "focus follow mouse" and "no auto-raise". How do I configure it? Thanks reddit. [link] [comments]
MacOS login required to complete update? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 02:52 PM PDT Every time I update my Mac, it requires I login during the process. This means that it's not possible to let the machine update and come back when it's fully ready. When I login, it often 10-15 minutes remaining to complete installation. Is this normal behavior? Any nice screensavers for Mojave? Posted: 02 Oct 2018 12:34 PM PDT Seem like flip clock and the older popular screensavers wont work on Mojave. Anyone got some nice ones? [link] [comments]
Multiple system crashes after installing MacOS Mojave 10.14 Posted: 02 Oct 2018 02:30 PM PDT Today I installed Mojave. I've been using it for about two hours, and have had two system crashes. I was browsing the internet, doing nothing special, then suddenly a black screen, and then I see this text appear that the system has crashed, and that I can press a key or wait a minute before it restarts. I can't remember having any system crashes with this three year old computer before. I regret that I didn't wait at least another week before doing this. [link] [comments]
Mojave spontaneously rebooting now Posted: 02 Oct 2018 06:07 PM PDT No error message, no crash, just reboots while in sleep mode with the lid down. I heard the boot noise when I wasn't even using it and was back at the Apple screen with the loading bar. The only thing I can think of is there was another update after the Mojave upgrade a week ago that installed automatically [link] [comments]
Can't play videos after updated to Mojave Posted: 02 Oct 2018 05:14 PM PDT I updated my mac to Mojave today, and everything went smooth. But after installation I can't play videos on web browsers and downloaded videos on mac anymore. At first I thought it was because of Adobe flash so I installed the lastest version but still it does not work. When I try to play a video on youtube, netflix, hulu...etc the video pops up but it would not play, when I fast forward I can see pictures of the video but no audio or video plays. If anyone has encountered the same problem and found a solution please share with me. Thank you! [link] [comments]

iMac takes extremely long time to boot after upgrading to Mojave. Posted: 02 Oct 2018 01:01 PM PDT Ever since I upgraded my iMac has been taking 4-5 minutes to boot. I've read it might have something to do with APFS and TRIM but I already tried disabling it and nothing. I'm running from an external SSD through USB-C though so that may be worth noting. Posted: 02 Oct 2018 04:46 PM PDT Hi! Here's a weird one. I don't know if this is by design. I was booting up a 2008's 15" MacBook Pro. I already entered its HDD's FileVault password to slowly boot up its updated Mac OS X El Capitan v10.11.6. And then, I accidently pulled its mag power plug from MBP and the system shut down (sleep?) due to lack of power (still using the original battery -- never replaced any hardwares on it since it is rarely used). After replugging its power plug back in and turning it back on, it did its usual slow boot up but it never asked me to enter my password to access its encrypted HDD. Instead it took me to its password reset screen with three prompts. Huh? I never asked for that. Was that supposed to happen? [link] [comments]

Social Media Notifications gone in Mojave Posted: 02 Oct 2018 03:34 PM PDT So, I noticed I was no longer getting Facebook and Twitter notifications popping up out of the Notification Center in Mojave. I went to look in the Notifications settings in System Preferences, and they're both still there and still enabled. So, I went to go look at Internet Accounts to see if something had happened during the Mojave install (did a clean install), and although I hadn't been locked out, those services are no longer listed as accounts that I can even log into. So, two questions:
