Posted: 07 Oct 2018 01:57 PM PDT No matter what I do, the news app will still send me notifications. edit: problem fixed. The news app preference won't change the notifications popping up even if you tell it not to. Have to go to System Preferences to the notification screen and change alert style to none. Posted: 07 Oct 2018 06:02 PM PDT (iPhone 6s, ios 12.0) I paid my mom $20 over iMessage but she doesn't use Apple Pay. When I tapped on the payment in the text, it didn't have an option to cancel the payment. All it says is "send again" in blue text but not "cancel payment" like it should say. The payment is pending on my bank account. It also says "pending..." on the icon in the iMessage. I need the money back because I paid her back on another app. So now I am out $40. Haha help Ps I have pictures if needed [link] [comments] |

Help with iPhone 6s/system taking up too much storage. Posted: 07 Oct 2018 08:33 PM PDT Okay so I have an iPhone 6s 16 gb that needs a new battery but before I do that I have to back up my files. But even before I do that I need to update my iOS. However before I can update it I need to clear some storage. Most of my storage is 'system that is equal to about 10gb. I don't want to delete all my music and apps just to do this update. Any advice? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Oct 2018 08:21 PM PDT Device: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) On High Sierra v. 10.13.6 Never had any other issues with it before, save for an occasional noisy fan. The folder not displaying happened immediately after an SMC reset. I also have a case on it, unsure if that could cause any heat issues or anything like that. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Oct 2018 07:57 PM PDT So I was using a visa gift card to get some free trial to a premium version in a game and now I don't have that card and I owe like 8 bucks. What can I do? I even deleted the app before the free trial was up but it still counted. I don't really feel like I should pay for that because I never knew that you had to cancel subscriptions like that, [link] [comments] |

Are unbacked-up photos gone forever Posted: 07 Oct 2018 07:22 PM PDT When I restarted my phone and lost all my photos, I checked iCloud photos to find out they were not there even though I thought I backed up my iPhone. I had important photos of family and friends on there so I'm wondering if there's a way I could retrieve them? [link] [comments] |
Restoring from a time machine backup Posted: 07 Oct 2018 07:02 PM PDT Old MacBook Pro died. I just got a new one. I have a time machine back up from a few weeks ago on my external hd. The thing is my old MacBook was on high Sierra and this one was formatted to snow leopard. Can I fill restore this MacBook to just how my old one was, operating system and all? Or do I have to update this new one to high Sierra then restore? Also it looks like Sierra is not on my account so I'd have to get this new one. Will that still work? Thanks in advance. Posted: 07 Oct 2018 10:30 PM PDT I just swapped over to IOS from Android after 10+ years. I love the build quality of the phone but there are a few things that are irritating. When trying to upload a video from the gallery to Facebook, nothing happens. It tells me the video will be posted but it never is. I have been trying to upload a video to Youtube as well and the second my screen turns off, the video stops uploading and if I don't notice quick enough; the entire uploading progress is lost and I have to start over again. Am I doing something wrong? Also, while I am here; is there a way to download audio files and use them as ring tones? Is there any sort of file browser? [link] [comments] |
(iOS 12 & Mojave) Finder Sidebar Shows All Tags Whenever iOS Files App Is Opened Posted: 07 Oct 2018 10:28 PM PDT Whenever I open the 'Files' App on any of my iPhones, the Finder sidebar on my Mac suddenly shows ALL of my tags instead of only the ones I selected. I can go in to Finder Preferences to fix this but it keeps happening over and over again. If I turn off iCloud Drive on my iPhone it stops happening but obviously that's not a viable solution. Anyone else having this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! iPhone X (and iPhone 6) on iOS 12 and Mid-2013 MacBook Air on MacOS Mojave (but having this issue since iOS 11 and High Sierra). [link] [comments] |
How to disable Launchpad Keyboard Shortcuts Posted: 07 Oct 2018 10:23 PM PDT Hello! I'm a graphics designer, I use Photoshop a lot and there's this keyboard shortcut that lets me zoom my work to a 100% by pressing 'CMD + 1'. All was working well until the past few weeks, I have no idea what I've done, when pressing 'CMD + 1', it launches the second app in my launchpad (first app is the Finder). When pressing 'CMD + 2', it then launches the third app in my launchpad. I now need to press 'Fn + CMD + 1' in Photoshop for my desired shortcut to be activated. I would like this to reverted to the original keyboard shortcut. I could care less if disabling the keyboard shortcut for the launchpad is needed. Already checked Keyboard Shortcut settings of the system and as well as the preferences for Photoshop but to no avail. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Why is airdrop not working on my mac? couldn't find airdrop. Posted: 07 Oct 2018 10:18 PM PDT Why is airdrop not working on my mac? I recently upgraded to MojaveOS and Airdrop doesn't seem to be working. When I try to open the airdrop app it says "The operation can't be completed because the item can't be found." Also, it isn't located in finder. Btw I already tried Finder>Preference>Sidebar and I still couldn't find airdrop. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Oct 2018 09:59 PM PDT My iPhone 7 has been having problems with no service for a while and I recently went to apple to see if they could fix it. Apparently this issue is very common in some models of the iPhone 7 and the model I have is one where this issue occurs. The apple store said that apple would repair my phone for free because of this well known issue. Only problem is that in order to get it fixed you have to get a certain error code to pop up when resetting the phone on iTunes. We tried resetting the phone multiple times at apple and no error code popped up. They said they couldn't take the phone in to repair because there was no error code, even though this is a very well known issue and that is 100% the reason my phone is showing no service. I can't get connection anywhere without using WiFi so I need this to be fixed but I cant afford a brand new phone right now. I have no idea what to do so if you have any suggestions please post them below I'm all ears. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Oct 2018 06:08 PM PDT When I first used Safari, most of my favorites in my touchbar looked like this. Now they're all appearing like little icons within a grey background. Is there a way to manually refresh these? [link] [comments] |
iPhone 7 Plus iOS 12 update problems Posted: 07 Oct 2018 09:31 PM PDT I recently updated my iPhone 7 Plus from iOS 11.3 to iOS 12 and after I did, I found that my microphone no longer worked. When I attempt to make a call, the call will connect but I can't hear the person on the receiving end and they can't hear me. Also, the speaker option will be greyed out, and I can't select it. Whenever I try to make a FaceTime call, the call will immediately end when I answer. When I attempt to utilize apps that use the microphone like Snapchat, videos recorded are mute. As recommended by Geek Squad tech, I tried a soft reset and resetting all settings. Despite these efforts, it still didn't work. Is anyone else experiencing this? I've tried to use my headphones with a built in mic and I still experience the same issues on calls. This is extremely frustrating as i'm out of my warranty period and had no plans to upgrade my device. I'm also sure that my microphone is completely fine, and that this is a software issue that accompanied the iOS 12 update. Phone calls are critical to my work and my inability to make them can hamper my ability to perform my job. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! [link] [comments] |
Update to 10.14 when it isn’t available? Posted: 07 Oct 2018 05:43 PM PDT I am trying to get iBooks to sync between devices without having to use iTunes. Both my MacBook and my iPhone are updated as much as I think is currently possible. My MacBook is running High Sierra 10.13.6, and my iPhone is running iOS 12. When I tried to sync from my phone, I get the following image. Probably being dumb, but this isn't publicly available yet, is it? I checked for available updates and searched online and it looks like 10.13.6 is the latest. Help? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Oct 2018 05:06 PM PDT Edit to add: I've solved this one. I still don't know what the hell went wrong, but I went to the Apple website and downloaded iTunes again (same version as I already had, mind you) and reinstalled it over the existing iTunes - I didn't remove the existing version. The install took ages, but my phone is currently being backed up and everything is as it should be. I still don't understand how my phone was interacting without issue with iTunes one day and then completely unable to connect the next, but I guess these things happen. Maybe my experience can help someone else! Thank you for reading my post, if you did. First, my devices: iPhone 6S, 128GB iOS 12.0 MacBook Air (2013) OS 10.13.6 iTunes version 12.8.0.150 And now, my problem: I've always synced via cable rather than utilizing any type of iCloud storage. I was about to purchase and upgrade to an iPhone XS and that necessitated making a backup. I connected the cable as usual (authentic Apple Lightning cable, if that matters) and the Photo app opened on the MacBook as normal; I downloaded all new photos as always without issue. However, iTunes does not seem to recognize the device. Because I was able to open the Photo app and download all my photos, I know it isn't a connectivity issue. I also checked in System Information to be sure the device was recognized by the USB port, which it was. I checked whether iTunes Wi-Fi Sync was available; it is not. Both of my devices are listed under my account with accurate information with them. I believe I've got all security settings as they need to be, but I would love any suggestions of what I might need to check and do. I really would prefer to not have to do any major resetting until I've had a chance to make some manner of backup. Fortunately, I did make a backup of my phone right before I updated to iOS 12.0 so I wouldn't likely lose much of anything, but I still would love to have a completely up-to-date backup before I dive right into a new phone. Thank you in advance for any input you might have! I've gotten spoiled because I haven't ever had any issues with my phone or computer and this one has me stumped. [link] [comments] |

Is there a way to choose the location that itunes backs my iphone to on my PC? Posted: 07 Oct 2018 03:59 PM PDT my pc has two harddrives, C-drive is an SSD and my D-drive is an HD. D has much more space than the C. I usually install programs on the C, but only simple stuff like browsers, anti-virus, open office and of course itunes (all games go on the D drives). well my C-drive is almost completely filled up and it looks like its related to itunes. my music files are all on the D-drive so i know thats not the issue. the AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync folder on C has over 100gb stored on it, so im guessing its all from my iphone back up. is there a way to set the backup location to my D-drive? or do i just have to uninstall itunes and reinstall it on my D-drive? additionally, if i do reinstall it on to a new drive, do i have to de-authorize and re-authorize my phone on itunes? or will it recognize it as the same computer? how do i ensure that all my settings and playlists on itunes are the same upon reinstalling? any help would be appreciated! iPhone XS Randomly Hard Resets Posted: 07 Oct 2018 01:20 PM PDT I have an iPhone XS (on Verizon) that randomly does a hard reset. When it restarts it is like a brand new phone, starting the setup prompts again. Apple replaced the hardware a few days ago and it is still resetting. Verizon has replaced the SIM and is still resetting. Verizon has said the IMEI is missing from the profile but fixed it and it is still resetting. Have used two different Apple IDs while re-setting up the iPhone. Have done restores from iCloud, Verizon and SanDisk. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |

Trying to use a new time machine drive and it won't do a backup. Posted: 07 Oct 2018 02:48 PM PDT Hey all! I purchased a new backup drive and set it up for time machine like I've done a million times in the past, and it claims to finish the backup...but only backs up like 300mb of data. It claims it has 0 of 600+gb left to backup, and then just skips to "Finishing backup". I remember in the past it was possible to delete a plist file for a "corrupt" time machine backup, but I don't see the plist file listed anymore. I've reformatted this a few times and keep trying a different name, each time 'removing' the old drive and restarting the computer in between. So far, no luck. I'm on 10.14 and luckily my old time machine backed up as of earlier today, so I'm not lost if this breaks, I just wanna know how to get time machine working again. Thanks! edit for the title - won't let me *perform* a backup [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Oct 2018 04:15 AM PDT This weird dot appears everywhere on the screen. https://m.imgur.com/a/fkBFBjt thought it was some assistive thing and tapping does nothing.
