Posted: 04 Oct 2018 05:36 PM PDT These screen savers that they add are seriously unbelievable and they fact that they go this far out of their way to capture those gorgeous shots is just super cool of them. Highly recommend setting the "download new video" to "daily" in the general > screen saver settings. Edit: Also, when the aerial is on the screen, you can:

Today, October 5th, marks the 7 year anniversary of Steve Jobs’ death. Posted: 05 Oct 2018 12:25 AM PDT Whether you hated him or didn't abide with what he did, he undoubtedly did shape the 21st century. May he rest in peace. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Oct 2018 08:22 AM PDT Since September of 2016 I'm running daily and tracking the runs with the Apple Watch. Sometime last year, I have told iCloud to store the health data in the cloud and now that I have updated to an XS Max, I noticed that most of my past workout data was gone. Don't worry though - it's still there, the phone downloaded 2228 (in my case) files that contain the actual workout data and it's processing them one by one. But the kicker: This can only run while the phone is unlocked. When it's locked, To track the progress, connect your phone to a mac and run the Console app. Select your phone and in the search field, type in my case, at 3ish seconds per file and with 2.5k files to go, that's 2 hours of processing which, again, can only happen while the phone is unlocked, so you'll have to babysit it or disable the screen lock for the time it's processing. Little update: After running for a long time, I noticed that eventually it'll get killed and then it will hopefully resume processing. [link] [comments] |
Never thought about it until now; Apple doesn’t have professional image-editing software. Why? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 05:08 PM PDT Need to edit a professional video? Final Cut Pro! Creating professional music? Logic Pro X! Wanna create professional images or edit photos with vast controls? Um... Photos app I guess? It never really struck me until now. Wouldn't it make sense for one to exist? Makes me wonder why they never jumped on it. Is it too late considering the popularity and standardization of Adobe Photoshop? Did they want to allow third-party Mac apps like Pixelmator to happen? I'd be honestly interested if Apple actually bought out Pixelmator or something and turned it into professional Apple image editing software that is in line with Final Cut & Logic and competes with Photoshop. For those of you with metal Watch bands, is this an issue? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 03:28 PM PDT Does the metal band strike the metal surface below the keyboard and cause scuffs (to either the band or MacBook)? https://i.imgur.com/khpuHPz.jpg [link] [comments] |
FRIDAY is here. Not the day of the week, but your virtual assistant. Posted: 04 Oct 2018 08:09 PM PDT With iOS 12, Tony Stark fans no longer need to be bored with their outdated JARVIS models, they can easily download the FRIDAY soundalike in moments! Settings.app > Siri & Search > Siri Voice. Select both the Irish accent and female gender. Now, just ask Siri to call you boss. [link] [comments] |

Does anyone use a Qi charger/clip in their car? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 01:51 PM PDT I'm thinking about picking this up: Does anyone have any experience with anything like this? Does it work well? Waste of money? Barely charge? You love your? You hate your? Any feedback is appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Will the iPhone XR have weaker back glass? Posted: 04 Oct 2018 11:37 AM PDT The iPhone XR Page on Apple's website says "most durable front glass". Is Apple cheaping out on the back glass? [link] [comments] |
Considering switching from Android, but I have a few questions... Posted: 04 Oct 2018 07:02 PM PDT I am considering switching from being a long time Android user back to iPhone. I have not used an iPhone since the 3gS. I've definitely grown accustomed to the customization of Android, and I'm worried that I will miss it after switching to an iPhone. I'm hoping some of you can tell me if these small issues below are things that can be fixed either via a third-party app or by jailbreaking. While I am not afraid to jailbreak a phone, I am weary about voiding AppleCare.

TIL: You can rotate the crown on the Apple Watch to slowly turn the screen on when it's off. Posted: 04 Oct 2018 09:32 PM PDT This worked on my Series 4 watch when the screen is off. Rotate the crown up slowly and the screen will slowly brighten. If you rotate it down then the screen will dim. [link] [comments] |

Apple Watch series 4 battery life Posted: 04 Oct 2018 03:31 PM PDT Curious what others are seeing for battery life? Aluminum 44mm, cellular but not activated, I'm seeing consistent 2.5-3%/hr battery drain (for casual use, no workouts or anything). Nothing really seems to affect it much (for going lower). I've turned off workout detection, turned off always listening Siri, dimmed brightness all the way, changed to a watch face without complications, ran theater mode all day, uninstalled as many apps as possible, turned off almost all notifications, and turned off background app refresh. Also reset everything and set up as new. Still the same 2.5-3%/hr. Turning off workout detection seemed to have the biggest impact taking it from 3-3.2 down to 2.5-2.8%/hr. My series 3 had a lot better battery life (watchOS 4). 24hr without charge on s3 would leave me with 60% or so. 24hr with s4 best case possible is 40% left, making battery drain 50% higher. Curious if anyone else is in this boat? I've tried every possible thing but can get below 2%/hr. I have a couple friends with s4, both with nothing turned off, both getting 1.5-1.6%/hr. Almost double my battery life, and in line with their and my s3 numbers. I'm thinking of trying to return/exchange before my 14 days is up tomorrow. [link] [comments] |
