"Could not create a preboot volume for APFS install" Posted: 01 Sep 2018 05:28 PM PDT Can someone please help me? I am getting this message after I clicked erase on "Macintosh HD" I'm supposed to be returning this Mac tomorrow and I'm really freaking out I broke it. I've tried everything, yes I have googled it and I don't have another mac to transfer anything to. I'm getting the "Could not create a preboot volume for APFS install" and when I try and restart or shut down all I see is a cross in a circle. [link] [comments]
Can't get Handoff the work on calls from my iPhone to Mac/iPad Posted: 01 Sep 2018 05:17 PM PDT I was wandering if someone is experiencing this as well: for some reason, I cannot get handoff to work between my iPhone 7, MacBook Pro 2013, and iPad Air 2 for calls. I have tired re enabling the Handoff on the iPhone, but it's not working.. I cannot get the audio source on the iPhone to show the Mac. it only works when I'm calling from the Mac, only then it shows the Mac icon on the iPhone. Other handoff features work though.. Can't Find High Sierra In App Store Posted: 01 Sep 2018 04:49 PM PDT Trying to download the High Sierra Installer onto my usb to boot onto the new SSD i just bought for my Macbook Pro 2012. Apple gave me a direct link to the App Store but it says "no results" I'm currently running MacOS Mojave Public Beta. I tried to erase the disk in Disk Utility to remove the Beta Profile to see if i can go back to High Sierra and that'll let me find the download in the App Store but when Reinstalling MacOS it still brings up Mojave... How can i find High Sierra to install it on a usb to boot up using the new SSD i purchased... Please help... also expecting a call back from Apple to help fix this issue as i had to leave to go pick it up and couldn't finish with the call, so requested a call back. [link] [comments]
Ghosting on my late 2015 retina 5k 27 inch iMac? Posted: 01 Sep 2018 10:04 AM PDT Please help, Reddit. I am frustrated and angry and very upset. Last night, I was using f.lux when I noticed there was an orange glow from a browser I had opened around the edges of my monitor. For the past 4 hours, I have left my monitor running without turning it off and have let a screensaver run to hopefully fix this problem. Now, 5 hours later, I still see the orange glow around my iMac. It is less than 3 years old and I didn't even know that image retention was an issue with iMacs until now. I have no idea what to do or where to go from here! Please help, I'm so worried. [link] [comments]
Issues Installing Pages, Numbers, Keynote on MacBook Posted: 02 Sep 2018 12:20 AM PDT I'm trying to put Pages, Numbers & Keynote onto a MacBook Pro from around 2008-2009 (Currently Running El Cap. 10.11.6). However, I have run into a bit of a feedback loop. Trying to install one of the apps will give me an error that I am not running 10.12. Upon trying to update to High Sierra, I am told that the Mac is incompatible. This means that as far as I can tell, I cannot use Pages, Numbers or Keynote. Is there a way to get the versions of the apps for El Capitan, rather than High Sierra, or is my only choice to use some other product? (MS Office/Libre Office) Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Sep 2018 02:05 PM PDT I have an older Macbook Pro mid 2012 and look to upgrade the ram and pick up an ssd for it soon cause i don't have the money to buy a brand new macbook, plus i don't use my computer much. What can i do to speed it up without install the ram or ssd? i've cleared the cache folders from everywhere, deleted every application i don't use, and deleted everything from the startup menu, deleted files i don't need to make more space. Any other tips? thanks! [link] [comments]
Camptune ruined Boot Camp when I tried resizing it Posted: 01 Sep 2018 09:03 PM PDT I was running out of space on my Boot Camp partition, so I went into High Sierra and downloaded Camptune. I started the program up, only to be told that I had to fix my Boot Camp installation to use the program. So I did. Then the program says it can only resize fucking 2GB of data, which is basically useless in 2018, and that I'd have to pay $19.95 for something I'm only likely to use once. I closed that shit out real quick. I tried rebooting and going back to Windows to use Partition Wizard or some other free program...only to find out that Camptune ruined my boot sequence. Boot Camp won't boot. Went back into High Sierra, started Camptune up again. Says I don't have a Boot Camp partition (spoiler: I still do, it's right here in diskutil). Boot Camp Manager only wants me to reformat everything and redo my Boot Camp partition, but it was fucking 200GB. How do I fix this? I won't trust fucking Camptune or Paragon Software again. 190GB of inaccessible data. I'm super pissed. [link] [comments]
