| How can I identify the owner of an iPad? Posted: 27 Sep 2018 07:16 AM PDT Yesterday I found an iPad someone left on a table when I brought my son to soccer practice. It was going to rain so I threw it in the car. I checked with everyone there and no one had left it. Someone had suggested it belonged to someone who had left before I got there. I threw a message up on our town Facebook page but no one is claiming it. Any way I can identify who it belongs to? It's got a touch ID lock on it (right? that's what it's called?), but I'm not going to Cinderella this. Would apple be able to tell me anything? My last resort will be leaving it with the police but I'd like to do some due diligence to find the owner. NOTE: I am not trying to make this mine. Just want to return it, same as I hope someone would do for me if I lost an iPad. UPDATE: iPad has been returned. Thanks for all the advice everyone! Put owner info into your iPads! I'm searching for an app that let me highlight, anotate, and draw (cicles, lines...) just like Adobe Acrobat does, but maybe there is a better app with web-Android-iOS sync. I use Mendeley more often but it lacks a tool to draw lines or circles (they are very visual, I study doing that). | iPad Pro won’t show battery life for magic keyboard Posted: 27 Sep 2018 05:59 AM PDT My magic keyboard syncs and works perfectly with my iPad, but ever since the iOS 12 update it won't show the battery percentage when I look for it in the Notification Center. It just looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/Ti2j8zh.jpg It seems to just show a blank space where the keyboard is. Also, sometimes when i try to disconnect the keyboard it disconnects the keyboard and the Apple Pencil. Not sure if this is needed, but it's an iPad Pro 2nd gen. | ipad 6th gen cracked screen repair advice Posted: 26 Sep 2018 07:18 PM PDT I recently shattered the front glass cover for my iPad. I've done several iPhone repairs in the past so I figured doing so for an iPad shouldn't be too different. I guess they decided to change the design in the 6th gen model where the digitizer and glass screen are now two separate pieces. After removing the cracked glass I've noticed that the digitizer has bunch of tiny broken glass fragments still on the screen; I've also applied a few fingerprint smudges during the process as well. Is there a way to properly clean the digitizer before I apply a new glass screen? [link] [comments]  | ||

| iPad App for Technical Drawing Posted: 26 Sep 2018 05:47 PM PDT I'm looking to find an iPad app (free or not) that will help me create some technical cross section drawings of machinery that is used in my industry. Here is one example: Injection Molder. I have tried apps like procreate for this, but it isn't ideal since everything is free hand and the result isn't crisp/exact. I prefer something where I can draw straight lines, curves and other shapes to exact dimensions/angles with some sort of snap-to-grid functionality. That will make my task much more efficient. Exporting to an Adobe illustrator vector file would be a plus. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Apple Pencil support is highly preferred. [link] [comments]  | ||

If I were to invest in AppleCare and take good care of it, including taking it for repairs whenever necessary, how long do you think it would take before it really slows down or the hardware gives out? | Posted: 26 Sep 2018 09:00 PM PDT I'm looking to buy an iPad, mostly to see what it's like; because I have a MacBook Air, I've had every new iPhone for the past 7 years, I have an Apple Watch (planning to get the series 4) and as an Apple fan I'd like to try out an iPad. But, I'd like to buy a used one of course. So I have a few questions... 1) is it worth getting cellular on it? Or is just WiFi good enough? 2) I'm leaning toward an iPad mini because of the size... is it too old? 3) what websites/stores sell good condition refurbished iPads? 4) what's the best iPad for the price? I'll be using this to watch Netflix, listen to music, watch YouTube, play some games, internet/social media, possibly music stuff as I'm a musician, do some homework and maybe do writing on it (I'm a writer). Not sure what else I'd use it for but I'm also not sure which model to buy and where to buy it from! If there's any other important things I left out let me know.
