    Best 4k movies?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2018 06:21 PM PDT

Just got my first-ever 4k tv! I already have a few iTunes movies that have upgraded automatically to 4k, but this begs the question...what are your favorite 4k movies to show off your screen?

    Hey all,

Does anyone know if there is some kind of list for apple/digital exclusive 4k movies?

for example, you can get American Sniper in 4k but not on disc..

Apple TV 4K with Sonos Playbar

    Posted: 02 Sep 2018 11:54 AM PDT

Anyone have an ATV 4K with a Sonos Playbar? Wondering if I'd be able to turn the ATV, my Sony TV, and the Soundbar on with the ATV remote since it's only connected to the TV via optical cable?

My AppleTV...doesn’t EVER download system updates....

    Posted: 02 Sep 2018 08:38 PM PDT

So as the title says, my ATV doesn't EVER download system updates, despite never being turned off. All it ever does is sleep. When I wake it up, and ask it to check, sure as shooting there's an update. Any clues why this may be?

    TIA.

    AppleTV 4k real Dolby Atmos?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2018 01:33 PM PDT

    Hi,

I got the beta of iOS 12 expecting to enjoy Dolby Atmos. I have a 7.1.4 setup through a Yamaha receiver. Unfortunately, when I play any atmos content, and decode it "straight," I am not getting any overhead channels turned on. My receiver is getting PCM and 7.1 channels, but no overhead. This is with movies from iTunes that are supposedly atmos (like alien covenant) and movies from my personal library via Plex encoded with a TrueHD stream.

Has anyone got discrete output from their overhead channels working? Is there any way to test it?

I would love to get rid of my ShieldTV, but I want to use my atmos speakers I went through the trouble of installing :)

Apple TV 4th Gen randomly static screen and LOUD static audio - Intermittent

    Posted: 02 Sep 2018 04:12 PM PDT

    Sup reddit fam.

Ive been using my Apple TV 4th gen for about 3 months now, primarily to use DirecTV Now. At random times, whatever I was watching would all of a sudden cut to white snow, and the audio would also cut to a much louder static roar, its startling. It lasts for about 3-4 seconds then goes back to normal. It probably happens 2-3 times a day throughout the day with no rhyme or reason.

Ive seen similar posts online about issues similar, but most people say it stays like that until they reset their ATV, or it happens every 2 seconds, or it goes from snow to loss of signal. I have not experienced any of those symptoms.

Just random video and LOUD audio snow for 3-4 seconds, then picture comes back like nothing happened.

At first I was convinced it was the DirecTV Now app, but just today it happened while I was Airplayed from my computer which eliminates the DirecTV App.

I will say I have tried to reset the Apple TV and nothing has changed, but I have not swapped the HDMI cable. I definitely will, but it seems strange to me that an HDMI cable would cause such rare, intermittent issues. Typically, a faulty hardware like that would present a consistent problem, such as other peoples symptoms of constant, 2 second cut outs, or complete signal loss.

Its hard to sift through all the different static issues online, so I thought I would present the new question. Does anyone else have a similar issue?

Apple TV 4K won't ever go to sleep.

    Posted: 02 Sep 2018 04:23 AM PDT

No matter how hard I try and how many times I put the ATV4K to sleep, it will wake every goddamn time. The thing is the TV will turn off and will stay off when I put the ATV to sleep but the white led will be back on as soon as that happens.

Older Apple TV boxes still worth it?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2018 12:08 PM PDT

Hi, I want to gift an Apple TV to an elderly couple. She owns an iphone/ipad, he an Samsung Galaxy phone.

The main (only known until now) use case would be to cast images and self recorded video on to the tv. They don't care about watching movies or series.

Overall it's more of a gimmick so I don't want to spend a lot of money for it.

    My questions are:

    1. Which older generation of the apple TV is still (somewhat) ok, updated, supported and works?

    2. Can I not only cast content from apple, but also from android devices?

    3. Maybe I'm missing something, and an amazon firestick or google stick are a better option. Pricewise a used apple tv (1,2,3) is almost on par with the other options so I would resort to the apple tv.

To Steve, he done nothing for money. At age 22 he had nothing; at age 23 his net worth was $1 million; And at age 24, $10 million; finally at the age 25 over 100 million!
