| How would you approach this situation? Posted: 27 Sep 2018 04:38 PM PDT TL;DR: brought my Macbook Pro to the Apple store to get the keyboard cleaned and they broke my keys. Now they're saying that they refuse to cover the repair. So took my 2016 Macbook pro to the Apple store a few weeks ago for a new crack that appeared near the Macbook Pro typeset along the the lower portion of my display. It wasn't anything major but I wanted to make sure because I've already had the display break on me and requiring repair. Long story short they employee deemed it a cosmetic issue and said that I would need to pay if I wanted it replace. I said no thank you it's not a big deal. I was having some sticky keys so I asked the employee if he could clean my keyboard since there is a program for that currently. He said sure and took it to the back. He comes back out, states that there was a bit of residue and some plastic underneath and everything should be fine. I start to use the keyboard and notice that they're much more responsive(keep in mind they were sticking so any movement is night and day), and take it home. When I get home I notice that the keys are actually much more mobile than the other keys and are lifting off. I only thought that it was like they didn't push it down hard enough so I gave it a good push. No change, and they're still lifting up. So they I take a look and notice that the keys are actually fully lifting off and that the bottom of the keys have been broken off. https://instagram.com/p/BoPmduthE0d/ Now that I've returned to the Apple store they're telling me that while the top case and keyboard they can repair, they may not be able to perform the repair due to the cosmetic crack just below the screen. Due to "if we remove the screen and we accidentally cause more damage to the screen you would be responsible for covering the repair costs of the screen." The scenario is that when it goes to the facility that they would separate the screen to get access to the top case to fix my keyboard which they broke. If they cause any additional damage to the screen then I cover it. However if not they won't perform any repair or compensation for actively breaking my laptop. | Can't buy power for UK iMac moving to France! Posted: 27 Sep 2018 09:53 AM PDT Hi everybody! I've been using my 2017 iMac in the UK for the past year or so. I am going to be moving to France within a month and have been looking for an EU plug for the iMac. I did apple live chat and called their support (Was forwarded to a supervisor who said he'd look into it and call me back if he found a way of getting one to me and it doesn't seem like he found anything) but there was no luck. Also, nothing is available on the website. Does anybody know where I can get an EU iMac cable? Do EU Apple Stores have the cables in stock at the store? Or even better on the French website? Are there any legitimate third-party resellers or websites which I could get a legitimate cable from? Or Alternatively: Would using a UK-EU Plug converter work or would it fry my mac? I move within a month and I'm really worried I won't be able to work (I use the iMac for work). Any advice would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]  |

It's prompt me almost every 20 mins that activation is required. It says I need to connect to WiFi and finish the update. When I do or try it then takes me to home screen and says I need to accept the new terms. https://imgur.com/gallery/8czWm18 Every 20 mins it's the same routine and if I'm at work with no WiFi or cell service I'm locked out of my phone till I get service to repeat the process. | Download Shortcut in Dock Not Working Posted: 27 Sep 2018 06:57 PM PDT Hello, I need help getting my download shortcut to function again. I just updated my 13inch MacBook Air to Mojave a few hours ago. Ever since, each time I try to click the download shortcut in the dock, the dock disappears, my background image goes to straight black, then goes back to normal. I can still open the downloads folder from Finder, this is just annoying. Just for the sake of more information, I had to uninstall cDock as it was incompatible with Mojave, and maybe that is creating the issues. Thanks for the help. [link] [comments]  |
| Will Apple replace my third party screen on iPhone 7? Posted: 27 Sep 2018 06:31 AM PDT Hello, a few months ago, I had a very reputable third-party repair center fix a cracked screen on my iPhone 7. For the record, I live nowhere near an Apple store or other authorized repair center (rural). The repair center mentioned above was a 30 minute drive alone. My phone is used for my work, and I can't go without it, so I had to have a place fix it who could do it within an hour time-frame. It was my only option. Anyways, I want to upgrade to a new phone soon, and want to have the screen on iPhone 7 replaced with Apple OEM part so that I can resell it for the highest value possible. After I upgrade, I plan to send the phone into Apple (once I have the new device in hand) to have them replace it. Just want to make sure they'll even touch it before I go through the motions to send it into Apple. Price is not an issue. Thanks for the feedback! [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 27 Sep 2018 02:35 PM PDT After 3 support calls and numerous attempts to troubleshoot, the final suggestion is to re-install OS. We've tried signing in and out, creating new users, new music libraries, etc. It started with iTunes prompting me to sign in whenever I tried to play an Apple Music title that was in my library. However, I was already signed into iTunes (the iCloud box in preferences will not allow me to login). after some googling it was suggested I sign out of all my devices and then sign back in. This worked on everything but the laptop. Support is convinced there's something corrupt on my HD? I can copy pasta the threads from support for specifics (if anyone is interested) as they are stumped as well. When I told the Senior iTunes Advisor I cancelled my subscription to Apple Music she replied, "I don't blame you." If it was just Apple Music that was concerned I would just wait out the 60 days and hope the problem resolved itself, but now it is happening with matched/purchased titles as well. I would hate to go through the backup process and a clean install, just for this to happen again... We're talking about 80GB of music here. 13 hours to copy. Luckily, I had the foresight to copy everything before I signed up for Match way back when. But still... at $15/mo, for however many months Ive been a member... this fucking blows. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

The lighting in the room is warm, but when I focus on the white walls they appear white as they should. Why does it do this and how can you prevent it? I have unlimited data, so I don't usually connect to the WiFi at work for privacy reasons. Every day, suddenly I can't load pages and all my messages are sent as texts instead of iMessages. If I connect to the work WiFi, it's fine and the WiFi connection allows me to use the internet. If I then disconnect from the WiFi by forgetting the network, problem remains with LTE connection. If I restart the phone, it's fine and the LTE works again. But it's a pain to keep restarting my phone, of course. Cellular data is turned on. Roaming is turned on. I am at my wits end. | Posted: 27 Sep 2018 03:28 PM PDT I'm secretary of the board of directors of a non-profit, and in preparing the minutes each month I download a recording of the board meeting into iTunes (which treats it as a song, if that matters). While running Yosemite, I could right-click on the file in iTunes and click "Show in Finder." I could then right-click on the file in the Finder window and open the recording in Quicktime Player, which offered AV controls I could use to speed the recording up or down (very useful, since we have slow talkers and fast talkers on the board). I recently upgraded to High Sierra, and although I've figured out how to get the file into Quicktime (now, by dragging it onto the Quicktime icon in the dock), for the life of me I can't find any controls that allow me to adjust the speed. (I even consulted David Pogue's MacOS High Sierra: the missing manual, and couldn't find anything in the sections on iTunes and Quicktime Player about speeding up audio playback.) Any suggestions? (Caveat: I'm probably old enough to be your grandmother, and am not as tech-savvy as most people here. Never studied programming. If you have a fix, please explain it like I'm your granny.) | Apple Magic Keyboard 2 issues with keys registering Posted: 27 Sep 2018 03:28 PM PDT I work with a tech company and I have a customer here that's having issues with his Magic Keyboard 2 on his 27" iMac running 10.13.6 where about 6-8 keys on the left hand side of the keyboard do not work at all. The thing though is that the keyboard works on my test HDD as well as one of my Macs here in store so the keyboard itself is not the issue. A wired keyboard also has no issues on his iMac. I've tried resetting the keyboard, re-pairing it, there are no updates for the operating system outside of Mojave just app updates. Not sure what else I can really try here. Since the latest iOS update, if I message my brother, it will display as my contact having messaged him. If my mother then messages him, the contact listed on our log switches to hers, and all my messages remain. We have two distinct phone numbers in distinct contacts on his phone that, for some reason, now share the same log in Messages We all share an Apple account, and I'm assuming that's related. This is NOT a Send and Receive option mishap, as we've had those before and I've checked. This is different in any case, as the contact is visually changing on the log. Please help ASAP. I can't help but think this is a simple fix that I just cannot find. Google is no help. Thanks!
