| Weird situation with my Airport Time Capsule #Help Posted: 26 Jul 2018 09:19 PM PDT I have had no problems at all with backing up my Mac onto the Time Capsule. However, I recently connected back onto it in hopes of retrieving a lost file and found that there are NO backups available from this same Time Capsule I have backed up my Mac to at least a dozen times. Currently, I am the only person to backup to this device. It says 0.6 terabytes are currently in use. When I try and use the Time Machine, it states I have no previous backups. Under System Preferences/Time Capsule it states "'Data' - Jim's Airport Time Capsule Zero KB of -- available Oldest backup: None Latest backup: None" Yet, despite this terrible sight (data gone :/), when I click the button for "Select Disk" it shows "Backup Disks 'Data - on 'Jim's Airport Time Capsule' Available Disks Data - on 'Jim's Airport Time Capsule'" The funny think is, when I hover over these two different options, they both show different locations in the Capsule. It seems my computer knows it backed up to the capsule, the capsule has 0.6 Terabytes on it, but yet I am unable to retrieve it. I even went so far as to go onto the Migration Assistant to see if I can locate the backup. The only popup file for the migration was "Jim's Mac IOS (2) Zero KB of -- available." Notice the "(2)" in the name. Where the hell is the first one? I legit have not touched this thing or ever had any hard resets. MY BACKUPS ARE IN LIMBO!!! I might have encrypted the older backups, I have no idea what this does or if it might be the problem altogether. I still use the same Mac laptop though. If anyone knows even a smidge of information on this topic, I would love to hear it. The files were pretty important and honestly I am stuck. Any help would be great. [link] [comments]  |

| 2015 rMBP logic board advice/help Posted: 26 Jul 2018 08:31 PM PDT Got 13 inch MacBook Pro that Apple diagnosed with a logic board issue. Only thing I can think of is a bit windex getting into the cooling ports under neath it some how. Otherwise I can't think of how it could have broke. Anyways what can be done now ? Besides the obvious replacing the whole logic board. I know there are macbook repair techs like on eBay jay offer services for $150 they repair the board instead of replacing it. Back when I had the 5S I bought a bunch of albums on iTunes. On my SE, I've been able to download a lot of the albums I had purchased before, but some don't give me the option to re-download. Oddly enough, it doesn't give me the option to buy those albums either. iTunes actually shows that they're "purchased" but there's no option to import these albums to my phone. | iPhone 7 data loss after rebooting. Should I be worried? Posted: 26 Jul 2018 07:14 PM PDT Hey everyone, My iPhone 7 was acting a bit weird (had some apps not open properly, things weren't loading even with a strong wifi connection, etc) so I decided to reboot my iPhone. When I did this, it booted back up and the app icons weren't appearing (only the name of the app and folder names). So I rebooted it again, and after this time I found that my photos and my contacts were wiped from the phone. So my question isn't how to get these things back (both were backed up), it's more along the lines of if everything with my phone is okay. Could this mean my phone could have a virus or needs to be replaced? Everything seems to be acting normally at this time, but I just wanted to check in here and get an opinion from someone who is more familiar with these types of things. Thanks! [link] [comments]  |

The app automatically made a backup of the now-empty Whatsapp, and I can't seem to retrieve anything from my iCloud. Is there a way to restore any of the older backups rather than the latest one? Posted: 26 Jul 2018 09:49 PM PDT Hello, my gf is experiencing issues with her macbook pro where the computer will just randomly shut down. I tried doing a bunch of tests and tried resetting the SMC and nothing has helped us out yet. I think I've pinpointed it down to the issue being either the battery or the logic board. I did check and her battery has 950 cycles on it when the maximum or whatever is like 1000, however the issue of shutting down still happens when the laptop is connected to the wall (not using the battery), so this means it could be the logic board, correct? | Pro presenter on Mac mini, stage display issue Posted: 26 Jul 2018 04:27 PM PDT Hi all, We recently replaced an iMac, which ran pro presenter, with a Mac mini. We've hit a snag regarding displays though. Now, when we enable HD output, the FOH screens enable on the Mac mini monitor, the FOH show the Mac mini desktop. The only half did we have found is to turn off stage display. That normalizes FOH screens, and Mac mini monitor. Problem is now we have no functioning state display. Has anyone run into this issue? It has slowed to a crawl and takes about 20 minutes of color wheel spinning to open Outlook. I have 4 GB of system memory standard. After checking activity monitor my computer is always using that 4GB and then dipping into virtual memory to an unknown extent. I just purchased 16 GB of RAM for $100 because it was the best value per GB. I'm really thinking now that I should have just bought one 8GB chip which would bring me to 10GB total. Is there any benefit to the extra 6 GB if i'm not constantly reaching those points? [link] [comments]  |
| MacBook Pro 2014 Cannot Boot & Repeating Chime Posted: 26 Jul 2018 03:54 PM PDT So, before this was happend, i was trying to do a install of macOS Sierra to my external ssd, i was using usb stick that previously used as Hackintosh. And then clover boot screen show up, then i choose to boot from external device, it shows apple logo, i wait for 30 minutes, but it still show apple logo, im forcing the mbp to shutdown, and then when im trying to turn it on again, it shows blank screen with repeating chime forever. Things i already do: Reset SMC Reset PRAM Enter target disk mode Enter recovery mode None of them work, it will still show blank screen without apple logo and with repeating chime Is there any way to fix this? | iPhone X apps are unresponsive after open settings (iPhone Storage) Posted: 26 Jul 2018 03:20 PM PDT Today I went to check how much storage I have on my phone. The iPhone Storage screen was loading, but it was taking forever to load. However when I tried to go back, it froze and the loading symbol froze too. I forced closed the settings app, but when I tried to open settings again it was just white. After I saw that it was just white, I told myself maybe it's a bug issue. I opened Safari and it was also white and unresponsive and thought maybe there's an issue with Apple apps. I also opened Spotify and it was stuck on the logo and it never truly loaded. I did a force restart and did a reset all settings. Everything was fine, I clicked different settings and nothing froze. But when I went to iPhone Storage, apps became unresponsive. I wondering if people are experiencing something similar? I have the lasted update iOS 11.4.1 I also have a iPhone 5s and 6s plus that are running on 11.3 and everything is running smoothly. | Retrieving my Photo Library photos Posted: 26 Jul 2018 03:17 PM PDT Hello all, I'm not sure how serious of a problem this is but I'm freaking out a bit at the prospect of all of my photos possibly being deleted. Basically I was following this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVeUNFJHnhI it was in the process of the "preparing to copy to..." stage when I accidentally closed the window and it seemingly cancelled the process. I went to my photo library on my mac and it was empty and said that it attempted to repair itself. I check my external HDD and I see that there is a "Photo library" icon in it and I try to select that as the Photo Library to use, but it will not let me select it. Any ideas on how to go about handling this situation? The photos were not uploaded to iCloud and there were no TimeMachine backups. [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 26 Jul 2018 03:04 PM PDT okay so i have a 2015 macbook air, that has been complaining that my startup disk would be filling up or be already full, even though i never downloaded anything. i read that this happens, deleted most of my apps just in case, but it still complained about the memory being full. i've been running an anti-virus and spyprocram thing a couple times a week, or a couple times a day depending on if i've been watching streams or not. nothing has ever been found. just now i was casually watching netflix when i had the notification of "startup disk full" for the 72938th time today, only to find it having 30mb of free space, from which all had been taken up by "Other". my safari's most visited sites were gone, and when i go to "all files", it's just blank. there's nothing. everything that's on my desktop works and opens, but this is worrying me. a lot. if anyone can help me with this, please, i am quite honestly freaking out here [link] [comments]  |

I unplugged the primary monitor's video cable from the back of the computer to use on another device, but both screens went out and I can't get them to come back on. Don't think it's a hardware problem because the monitors have always been a little screwy. It may have been due to a setting the employee before me changed, but my usual routine for turning everything on is to leave the power cord out of the primary monitor, boot up, then plug in the monitor. If they're both plugged in, only the secondary will connect until I unplug/replug in the primary. I tried that this time though and nothing connected. | Employer disabled Apple Pay/Passbook Posted: 26 Jul 2018 10:11 AM PDT When I started at my current job, I was required to add a mobile device management profile to my iPhone X before I could access my work email on my phone. One of the restrictions is that I can no longer pull up Apple Pay by double-clicking the side button. I can still access Apple Pay by pulling up the wallet app, but wanted to know if there were any ways I could speed up the process. This is more of an annoyance than anything else, but I used to use Apple Pay all the time. Now I find that it's easier to just pull out my wallet. I changed my name when I got married, and I would like to have another mail address as my Apple ID. Until now I've had OldName@gmail.com but I'd like to have NewName@icloud.com instead. When I created the ID back in the day I automatically got OldName@icloud.com and OldName@me.com so those are already added under the Apple ID. I may also have screwed up, because I have now created a new Apple ID with the desired address, NewName@icloud.com. I couldn't add the address to my existing ID since the address wasn't in use by anyone, so I realised I would have to create the address first. I did, but I also created a new Apple ID with it. I'm not interested in using this new ID instead because as far as I know it will be impossible to transfer my purchases and settings to the new one.
