macOS High Sierra (10.13.5) random, temporary freezes Posted: 26 Jun 2018 09:57 AM PDT Since 10.13.2ish version, cursor keeps freezing temporarily but consistently after a long usage. When I move the mouse, the mouse just stops for 1-2 seconds and continues. The same happens when I type but I do not notice is as often (I think because mouse movement is faster; thus, more noticeable). This issue can only be resolved via restart and Activity Monitor does not have any high CPU usage. I am not quiet sure what is the cause of this (it maybe after sleep but I haven't paid attention to know if that is the case). Has anyone had this issue? What can I do to stop these freezes besides reinstalling OS? EDIT: forgot to mention: MCP non-TB 2017 [link] [comments]

Hidden space in APFS; how to free up that space? Posted: 26 Jun 2018 04:56 AM PDT So, this seems to be a common issue and I have already read a million posts about this, yet I haven't been able to find a solution to this problem: My Mac boots from an SSD formatted in APFS. Whenever I delete data (even in sizeable amounts) the corresponding space won't get released for subsequent use; instead it is simply regarded as "hidden space" (which is detectable in DaisyDisk). Now, it is easy to disregard that problem as long as the hidden space stays relatively small in size, however, it becomes nearly impossible to work with it when its size hits 100GB and more. I wanted to ask whether anyone has found a reliable solution to this problem or if a downgrade to HFS+ is inevitable. Thanks Edit: It seems like there is no direct way of reliably, manually reclaiming that space as of rn, except for switching to HFS+ [link] [comments]

Posted: 26 Jun 2018 07:14 AM PDT When it's enabled and you full screen an app, it places it the app to the right. Whereas when it's disabled, it sends the full screen app aaaaall the way to the end of your Spaces? And then obviously when it's enabled your apps are literally all over the place. Does anybody swear by it completely on or completely off? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Jun 2018 04:05 AM PDT Hi all In the past there have always been patches or alternative installation techniques to install the newest OSX/MacOS on a machine older than the refresh cut-off point. With Apple jumping forward in the refresh cycle to mid-2012 MBPs for Mojave - is there any hope of something similar for a Late-2011 MBP or even a current workaround to be able to install the public beta? Many thanks. [link] [comments]

coreaudiod process won't start Posted: 26 Jun 2018 11:41 AM PDT I updated my iMac to MacOS Mojave Public Beta and I got this problem, where I have no audio. Whenever I try to adjust the volume I get this screen: https://i.imgur.com/K2335xg.png , whenever I try to play audio on any app (e.g. play a video on youtube) it crashes. After a little digging I found out "coreaudiod" isn't running.. The process plist file is loaded but won't start in any way. I don't have any app that has to do with audio and I don't know what to do.. [link] [comments]
How do I keep my changing wallpaper in sync? Posted: 26 Jun 2018 11:00 AM PDT I got sick of trying to find a wallpaper I liked, and have set it now to display a different apple default wallpaper each day. I have a MBP (2012 non-retina), connected to an external display. However, the wallpaper seems to change whenever I restart. This means that if I have been using my laptop elsewhere, when I come to plug it back in the wallpaper on my external monitor is out of sync with my MacBook. If I switch the change wallpaper option off and on for the external display, it matches back up. Is there any way to force my external monitor to always display the same wallpaper as my MacBook? I'm quite liking the rotating wallpaper, but it's annoying when my screens have different ones. [link] [comments]
Full screen one window without new space? Posted: 26 Jun 2018 10:07 AM PDT I am trying to have VMware fusion open fullscreen in one monitor with my other macos native stuff in the other but this doesn't seem to be possible without simply expanding the VM window. How do I do this without having a mac window bar at the top of my VM window? [link] [comments]

How long does Filevault 2 encryption typically take? Posted: 26 Jun 2018 07:49 AM PDT How long does the initial encryption of an SSD take with filevault 2 in High Sierra or Sierra? I have seen several posts on various discussion boards from past years that suggested many hours, but most of these mentions were in the context of discussions of cases in which there was some sort of problem with the encryption process. They also involved older versions of the operating system, and may have involved the older spinning HDDs. I want to know what to expect with recent versions of macos under typical circumstances when things go as expected for, say, a 500GB or 1TB SSD. [link] [comments]
[Bug] Strange Issue with reboot, slow computer, too much processor usage Posted: 26 Jun 2018 03:51 AM PDT So I woke up this morning, and my laptop rebooted when I opened the lid. It rebooted in around 15-20 seconds, but it was strange. It's been about 10 minutes since, and it's still running with about 40% of the CPU tied up in system processes, and about 60% being used by the user. In addition, it has been lagging frequently and I have been getting the beachball frequently on different programs that don't normally have an issue, like Terraria and Excel. Is there a likely problem? Do I have some sort of virus, or is it a bug? I recently created and then removed a 50 gigabyte Windows Partition on my laptop, could this have caused issues? I have a 13 inch touchbar macbook pro from late 2017, with a 250 gigabyte SSD, and integrated graphics. I'm running High Sierra 10.13.5. Everything else with it is fine, and malwarebytes reports a clear scan. The bug report is below:
