Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:07 PM PDT Hey Apple friends! The AMD chip died last year, got an Apple repair on it and guess what, the GPU has just keeled over again. Grrrr! So much for a reliable repair... AHT/Diagnostics say no problems found which makes the issue that much weirder. Symptoms are it won't boot, stuck on gray screen, fans ramp up to maximum, even after PRAM and SMC resets. I ran through the guides that disable the AMD chip/tell MacOS to ignore it in the EFI and my computer now boots, but I can't do much because the graphics are running non-accelerated. The intel card is running in safe mode where rendering webpages is done line by line rather than the normal full-frame accelerated in 1/60th of a second. Did I miss a step or is there another command set in the MacOS with better instructions than the novel here? I skipped the Arch linux steps and did the single-user mode option. Otherwise, if you want or know who to call to take the board and reflow the chip/fix it (for a fair price) just let me know. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 12:41 AM PDT Whenever the download for the macOS Mojave Public Beta finishes, the 'app' disappears and I cannot find it. It doesn't appear to take any drive space either. Has this happened to anyone else? [link] [comments]
Apple Bluetooth Keyboard & Magic Trackpad (both v1) not discoverable on Mojave Posted: 28 Jun 2018 07:50 PM PDT I'm on the latest update. Anyone else having this issue? Curious to know if only the new Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad v2 (which sync through a cable) will be supported going forward. I hope it's just an issue with Mojave beta, but it'd be nice to know ASAP so I have an excuse to upgrade. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 07:46 PM PDT Anyway to get the count of total pages in Mac's Preview app? Right now all I see is a box with a single number, and that's the current page I'm on. I'd prefer it say something like "8 of 55", not just "8". [link] [comments]
Anyone else have a buggy Finder? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 09:27 AM PDT My finder window wont open from the dock, whenever I indirectly open it from the terminal it crashes after a few seconds. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jun 2018 05:00 PM PDT Is there anyway I can save a website? I have a portfolio of work that I'd like to be able to access and show if I don't have internet. [link] [comments]
Transfer Photos App from Mac Os High Sierra to Mac Os Sierra Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:59 PM PDT Hello, I am really confused and not sure if this is the right place to post. If not, if someone could tell me a better subreddit to post, I would appreciate it! Basically I have a 2012 Macbook Pro. It was running Mac Os High Sierra and thus my photos app got upgraded. However, I just had my computer worked on and the technician ended up taking out my hard drive and installing an SSD drive. He also downgraded the Os to Sierra. I am trying to move my photos app from my hard drive to the photos app on the computer but it says I need to upgrade my photos app. I know this means upgrading back to Mac Os High Sierra, but I don't necessarily want to do that. If anyone knows a way I could import my photos app from before (high sierra) onto my current photos app (sierra), that would be great! Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Is YaraScanService eating up anyone else's RAM/CPU on the 10.14 beta? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 03:28 PM PDT It's consistently using huge amounts of memory (14GB!) and about 60-70% CPU. [link] [comments]
slow keychain / safari autofill Posted: 28 Jun 2018 01:48 PM PDT Hey all -- wondering if anyone else has this issue. Over the last several months, clicking on a username/password field frequently results in beachballs while my mac presumably is reading keychain data from which to select autofill options, and it feels like it's getting worse. I have tried opening up Keychain and removing old / unused entries, but there really aren't enough there that should be causing this. Anyone else? EDIT: this is on an iMac Pro with tons of cpu/ram, so it's not the hardware. [link] [comments]
