Posted: 24 Jun 2018 08:09 AM PDT First of all, I included the word "hopefully" because this is not a full-proof measure (as I will discuss later in the post) so I really hope Apple will do something about it. So, a few weeks ago I came across a post here where an iPhone was robbed and the owner was forced to disclose his passcode. He later learned that his Apple account was compromised because the robber was able to change his trusted device and thereby change his account password. Then just today the same problem was faced by u/advil0 as posted here. This is a serious security issue and it left me wondering what could be done to protect my account from being 'hacked'. The only additional security setting that is currently available to thwart such an incident is to set Restrictions in the Settings: Settings > General > Restrictions > Accounts You set a restrictions PIN (something different from your normal phone passcode) and 'dont allow changes' for 'Accounts'. This will effectively prevent anyone who might know your phone passcode from making changes to your Apple Account from that particular phone. To make changes later you will need to disable Restrictions first using the PIN that you had earlier set. Now it should be noted that thieves might be aware of this trick and may force you to also divulge your Restrictions PIN. But until Apple introduces some counter-measure in their upcoming updates, then we can only hope iPhone thieves are left in the blind regarding this issue. Hopefully, this may help someone from losing their account should they ever be in a similar situation. Also, I tried to post this on r/apple but the moderator bot somehow deletes it for violating "Rule 11: No posts or comments relating to buying, selling, trading, giveaways or asking for advice about any of those topics." Go figure. TLDR: Set a Restrictions PIN in Settings > General > Restrictions > Accounts to prevent thieves from changing you Apple account details should you ever be forced to disclose your iPhone passcode. How long do you get out of your Apple leather cases? Posted: 24 Jun 2018 02:05 AM PDT I put one on my X on day one and honestly it's feeling pretty fucking gross now. Looks it too. They seem like quite a lot of money considering they go downhill so fast. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2018 09:27 AM PDT Hello guys, I've been using my iPhone 7 for almost a year now. Let me tell you my story, I bought the phone at 25th of July. I was pumped about having the red colored iPhone. I opened the package and it was fine. I put on a case immediately. 2 days later I get it naked to see it's beauty, instead I saw some chipping points but it was like 2-3 points on the second day. Today it's been almost a year and I decided to clean the phone, so I get it out of the case. And this was the view. I feel so bad right now. What are your comments about it, if I contact Apple Store, would they do anything about it? Thanks for all the comments. Here are the pictures, the chipping points are usually on laser engravings so I assume it's production failure. https://i.imgur.com/fip8g9z.jpg https://i.imgur.com/SzYwT5b.jpg TL;DR: Bought iPhone 7 red color, started chipping from day 2. Chipped even more in 1 year. [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2018 07:10 AM PDT I'm buying an iPhone X today and I can't decide how much memory I need. I had an iPhone 7 Plus with 128gb, and only used up about 23 gb in 1 1/2 years. [link] [comments]
Is it worth buying the iPhone X right now? Posted: 24 Jun 2018 12:01 AM PDT Hi, I'm a long time Android user. I've had iPhones 4(favorite), 4s and 5 in the past. I'm currently using a Nexus 6p which dies on me everytime it gets to 40%. I'm getting a discount on the iPhone X, I'm getting it for 960(Canadian dollars). Is it worth getting it with the next generation scheduled to be released in September? Does apple usually make huge changes and upgrades every year? I'm mainly interested in the phone for social media usage. Thanks! [link] [comments]

How do I stop my phone screen from going black when it’s turned a certain way? Posted: 24 Jun 2018 06:37 AM PDT I have my auto-lock set to never, raise to wake is off, but if I turn my phone over or turn it a certain way the screen goes black. It doesn't lock when this happens, when I turn my phone back over I'm back to where I was before. I guess it's some form of battery saving but I don't want it on and can't find where to turn it off. Any magnet alternative for iPhone X? Posted: 24 Jun 2018 03:18 AM PDT Hey there! Does anyone knows, if there is a lightning magnet adapter, which supports data (f.e. for Carplay), matches the color of the iPhone X and is as small as possible? [link] [comments]
Best gimbal stabilizer for an iphone plus? Posted: 24 Jun 2018 08:13 AM PDT Hey everyone, I need a recommendation. I paid for the flowmotion one off kickstarter but i'm cancelling because of their atrocious service (i paid for it in january and they still haven't shipped it out so fuck 'em). I've looked at a couple but i need it to also work for iphone plus'. bonus points if it comes with or i can attach a tripod to it :D thanks everyone [link] [comments]
Getting full quality photo from iCloud photos? Posted: 24 Jun 2018 05:57 AM PDT My wife turned on iCloud Photo Library and the "Optimize iPhone Storage" feature. I don't use that feature so I don't know and haven't found a good answer? How can she use the full quality version of a picture? Do we have to turn it off and restore all of them? Does the phone automatically pull the full version when the picture is being "used"? When a photo is accessed by a different app, will it be the reduced quality or full? [link] [comments]
After upgrading to iOS 11.4, I can no longer search for installed apps. How do I fix this? Posted: 24 Jun 2018 12:43 AM PDT Before last week I could pull down from the home screen, type the app I want and it would appear and I can open it. After upgrading to 11.4 none of my apps are suggested. Ever. It's super frustrating since I have tons of apps I have no idea where they are and I want to get to them fast. I keep spending 2 minutes every time I need an app I don't use all the time. [link] [comments]

Another way to access apps running in background Posted: 24 Jun 2018 10:04 AM PDT We all know the double click on Home button. I realized by mistake that if you 3D press the screen along the left edge of your phone, it opens by all apps running [link] [comments]
Why no GPS shortcut/toggle in Control Center? Posted: 24 Jun 2018 12:14 AM PDT Pisses me off to have to go into the privacy settings to turn on and off the gps. I also hate that the wifi and bluetooth dont completely turn off like they used to unless you go into the settings. [link] [comments]
Apple photos and their jumbled up “all photos “ album Posted: 24 Jun 2018 01:49 AM PDT I don't know if I am doing something wrong but on several occasions I have tried to move my library from google photos over to Apple photos to benefit from the family iCloud space sharing but the process means the all photos album just shows them in random order. They show fine under the memories but the issue is when you try to to send a photo to someone from another app and use the + button you'll have to hunt for your old photo in the jumbled mess of all photos. I don't get it. Why don't they make it use the meta data? [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2018 09:10 AM PDT does anyone else have a hard time seeing what's on their phone screen when they are outside with the iPhone X? I put the briteness to the max and i can still barely see the screen. Why is this happening? [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2018 08:38 AM PDT I tried searching, but couldn't find anything. My iPad pro 9.7 had a floating dock, I believe the iPhone X had this, too. Does ios 12 roll it out to all iPhones? I have an 8+ and much prefer the floating dock over the static one. [link] [comments]
Is there a way to automatically download all of my music for offline listening? Posted: 24 Jun 2018 08:32 AM PDT Okay I just got a new iPhone and I want to know if there is a single button solution to download all of my music or am I going to have to manually go through and download each individual song one at a time? [Help] iPhone 7 Plus iCloud backup over 7GB and can’t figure out what’s taking up storage Posted: 24 Jun 2018 08:25 AM PDT For some reason my wife's iCloud backup on her iPhone 7 is 7.87gb when the largest backed up item she has is 1 password for 60kb. We don't pay for anything above the 5gb default thus we aren't able to do a backup now. She doesn't have any older backups that I can see and I've turned off her photo library backup as well. I cannot figure out what's driving the large iCloud backup size. Running iOS 11.4 [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Jun 2018 07:54 AM PDT My wife has been experiencing slow issues on her 6S even after replacing the battery at the Apple store. Is there anything we can do to speed up this phone temporarily until we get an upgrade? I was thinking about buying SE temporarily but it's basically the same thing as a 6S, correct? She wants an X but we don't want to pay $30/month for it. [link] [comments] |
