Is it a good idea to buy a 2015 Macbook Pro in 2018? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 05:06 PM PDT Hello, I need a laptop for school and I'm looking at the Macbook Pro. I can get the 2015 i7 2.8GHz model for around $2100. If I spend around $500 more I can get a similar 2017 Macbook Pro. The dilemma I'm having is I'm not sure if I can expect the 2015 to be viable(speed, support, etc.) for the next 5-6 years. Also is there a very noticeable difference in speed between the 2015 and 2017. I will not be doing any editing/graphics intensive tasks. This laptop will mainly be used to run engineering related programs Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Macbook Pro SSD upgrade advice Posted: 28 Jun 2018 12:29 PM PDT I have a Mid-2015 MBP with Retina Display. I have a 512GB ssd, but I could really use more space. From researching online, it sounds like replacing the SSD is not too difficult (its in a slot, not soldered on). I found this website which sells SSD's for my model, but they are pretty expensive. I would be willing to pay that much to double my harddrive space, but only if I'm sure its going to work well. Does anyone have experience with this vendor or with MBP SSD replacement in general? Any suggestions for cheaper vendors? EDIT: Their claimed read/write speeds for their more expensive drives seem slower than benchmarks for the drives that ship with the laptop. [link] [comments] |
2017 MPB base model, what are your thoughts? Posted: 28 Jun 2018 12:25 PM PDT For those who have the 2016/2017 MacBook Pro base model, what's your review on the laptop? I'm going to buy one for web browsing + music playing + Netflix, and was wondering about the performance. [link] [comments] |
