| Posted: 25 Jun 2018 12:56 AM PDT The scary thing is that I'm not the only one. For 3 years I worked in an Apple retail store in almost every role they had. In November 2016 l was sexually harassed by a new starter (let's call him NS) on his first day. I was training him for the period of 4hrs. It ranged from:
I was obviously put off by this experience but I consistently and firmly said to stop his behaviour, that I was uncomfortable and it was inappropriate... and rushed out the door to go home. I had been experiencing instore customer sexual harassment for 3yrs, it almost seemed mundane that I experienced it from a new colleague so I thought nothing of it. I came back a couple of days later and was told that I was under investigation for HR misconduct. During the HR investigation, I was investigated for incidents with NS. Essentially, in retaliation to me turning him down for a date, he reported me to HR for:
The. Story. Went. On. And. On. Long story short is that management sided with him, I had to sign an NDA and do an incredibly anxious reconciliation with him apologising for all the 'trauma' I had caused him. However, the harassment didn't stop and management couldn't ensure my safety at work. For the next 3 months, he went out of his way to ask for my help, follow me to the car park, tries to touch me while I was out of sight of cameras, try to manipulate people against me and spread rumours. I was bound to my NDA and too scared to up and quit because of the money I was receiving for my uni. My work refused to believe me and basically inferred that I was faking it because no one saw EVEN THOUGH I HAD WORKED THERE FOR 3 YEARS - they didn't trust me. I remember one of the managers said to me that it couldn't have happened if I didn't report it. It really started to get creepy when he followed me back to my car (probably a 1-2km walk) and tried to talk to me about our mutual friends My parents were furious and wanted to call the police to get a restraining order. My dad just about wanted to kill this guy and they were serious in dropping a whole heap of cash into a lawyer. However, it was a he said / she said case and there was no way I would have won with Apple's billionaire legal team. I was so scared for my safety that I quit. My close friend said that they refused to even acknowledge my existence as if I had never worked there. The more I talk about this, the more I see common themes amongst the culture of Apple stores. They have bullying, sexism and harassment intertwined with their culture. However, people never hear about it because it is so quickly swept under the rug and disassociated (obviously they have amazing HR). I know where to look, this stuff happens ALL the time. e.g. Staff at one Apple store 'always look through female customers' nude photos' when their devices are brought in for service. This happened in my store too... among other things. The reason for this post is to say "Me Too" and to paint a very realistic, ugly side of Apple that is so carefully buried. -TLDR-I trained a new starter who sexually harassed me. In relation for turning him down, he falsely reported me to HR. I was reprimanded without any evidence and suffered for 3months while he routinely stalked me and intimidated me. | Just got AirPods a couple weeks ago. Is the battery widget always so glitchy? Posted: 24 Jun 2018 04:05 PM PDT My iPhone X and my Apple Watch always show up, but it's a total toss up whether or not the AirPods and case are all displayed. Sometimes all three pieces show up, most of the time none show up unless I open the case, just now I only had the left AirPod show... Is this widget just that unreliable? For some reason the Manage Storage tool from Apple didn't show me this, the files were "hidden" in the System section which is not accessible. I had over 30GB of old, garbage cache files from using various software from Adobe. The folder's location: user>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Common>Media Cache Files [link] [comments]  |

| It’s time for dynamic iOS homepage Posted: 24 Jun 2018 07:43 AM PDT I keep changing locations of icons on my 8+ with the preference for the most often used in the right lower corner. I wish for an option to "Set homepage icons automatically" - that would put my most often used apps in the most accessible spots. Simple version would be to have just recent apps sorting - but there could be an AI option for iOS to predict the apps I'm going to use at a specific time. I know about Siri suggestions but I wish I had this on the homepage. And if this is too much then at least give us an option to put the apps where we want them! Now if I make a page with just a few apps those would be in the top left corner that is the least preferable place on a big screen. [link] [comments]  |

| [Discussion] Apple should provide AAA game companies with developers to help switch over to Metal. Posted: 25 Jun 2018 02:16 AM PDT Gaming on the Mac has never been great. In fact, if you look at the numbers, more and more companies are giving up on MacOS games. (Call of Duty, Battlefield had AAA games for the Mac, but have indicated they're not planning any future support). Metal is a great framework, it beats OpenGL on many levels. However, converting a game from using OpenGL to metal is a time- and developer heavy task. At the moment, almost no AAA studios have indicated to even consider it. I believe Apple should offer in house developers who have the most knowledge of Metal to EA Dice for example, so the Next Battlefield can make use of Metal. It would cost Apple quite a bit, but the ROI would be huge. I imagine this would show and prove other studios and developers the advantages of Metal. Many of us still have a dedicated Windows Machine, (or bootcamp installation which may not be possible anymore in the near future) just for games. Apple could easily take this market segment if they wanted to. What do you think? [link] [comments]  |

| Fake(misleading) music in Apple Music is irritating Posted: 24 Jun 2018 01:27 PM PDT Ill be listening to artist A and then out of no where artist B music will start playing, and artist B is some random person who either falsely claims they are artist A, just for the sake of getting plays for their own music. Or artist B will just claim that artist A is featured on the song when again, they are just a random artist using artist A's name to get listens...its irritating. How do I report these songs? Has anyone ever seen this? I know I've seen this happen on soundclound, but It doesn't seem prominent on Spotify. I just switched back to apple music and still see the same thing happening. Doesn't matter if I'm listening to Spanish music, English, theres always some fake song playing after 1 hour of listening. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 24 Jun 2018 04:45 PM PDT It's time to bite the bullet and purchase a new mac. My 2012 mini is slow as anything, and it makes using the computer simply unenjoyable. I mainly use my machine for web based work, and some minor photo editing as a personal hobby. I knew new Macbooks are usually released around this time of year, but I feel that the upgrades will be nothing to go "ga-ga" about seeming a major redesign isn't in the works. I guess my questions here are: 1.) Should I really wait and suffer it out with this snail of a computer? 2.) How bad really are the keyboard issues on with the butterfly keys? [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 24 Jun 2018 09:03 PM PDT I've used a 2015 MacBook Pro (provided to me at my workplace) for quite a long time, and found the trackpad size to be quite sufficient. I recently purchased a 2017 MacBook Pro for myself, and while the larger trackpad is certainly no detriment, I find the larger size to be quite unnecessary. At no point did I ever feel that the larger trackpad provided a substantially better experience. Have you found if the larger trackpad has made a significant difference for you? [link] [comments]  |
| Side Button on iPhone X Opens Apple Pay when Only Pressing Once (iOs 11.4) Posted: 24 Jun 2018 07:02 PM PDT Happens about once in every 50 time I lock my device. Doesn't matter if it's in a case or not. Apple pay will pop up after pressing the side button to lock my device. Interesting part is, I turned off double click for Apple Pay, now when it happens, the phone makes the locking sound twice in rapid succession. Is this a known bug with Ios 11.4 and the X? | Logic board failed on my mid 2014 MacBook Pro 15”. What are my choices? Posted: 25 Jun 2018 02:17 AM PDT Couple days ago I opened my MacBook to find out that it's completely dead. Today I brought my MacBook to the Apple store and told me the logic board has failed. This is really irritating because just couple months ago I brought it in for repair before my AppleCare ran out and had my top case and monitor replaced. I have a feeling the reason the logic board failed is due to their repairing. But today they quoted me about $800. I don't know what all my options are. My only criteria is that I need my data on the SSD. How would I be able to transfer the data and or is that possible? Should I just a new MacBook 2015 or 2018? [link] [comments]  |
