Brand new MacBook Pro Won't Connect to WiFi Posted: 04 Apr 2018 01:17 PM PDT I've just bought a brand new 15" MacBook Pro, which I received today. I've used a Time Machine backup from my 2011 Macbook Pro to setup the new machine. Everything seems to have gone smoothly, other than the fact that I can't connect to WiFi. The connection is made, although it quickly disconnects after around 1-2 seconds. I've tried moving the MacBook nearer my router, as in right next to it, but it made no difference. I've also tried tethering my phone connection, but the same behaviour happens. Googling suggested that I click "Renew DHCP Lease" on the TCP/IP settings page. I've done that, but the behaviour is the same. On my old MacBook the WiFi info shows: RSSI: -66dBm, Noise: -88dBm, Tx Rate: 52Mbps, Mode: 802.11n, Channel: 1, MCS:4 The equivalent readings on the new macbook are: RSSI: -66dBm, Noise: -93dBm, Tx Rate: 130Mbps, Mode: 802.11n, Channel: 1, MCS: 10-15 (varies, I can only get this info briefly when the MacBook connects before disconnecting) If you guys could help me sort this out that would be amazing! At the moment I'm really regretting spending so much money on this. [link] [comments]
Quicktime with different voice recorder? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 02:15 PM PDT Hello, I am aware of quicktime and screen recording. However is there a way to record my voice as well but with a higher or deeper pitch? Would I have to use another voice recorder along with quicktime if thats the case? Another word, I am trying to make a video capturing my screen, but I want to use a different voice to make it more entertaining. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. Can I install url dmg's with homebrew? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 02:02 PM PDT I am new to Mac and I love homebrew. There are some programs (such as ICanHazShortcut) that are perfect for my programming environment, an environment I need to replicate among several other machines hence the reason why homebrew is a great solution. But ICanHazShortcut is only available as a dmg download online? Can I use homebrew to install dmg packages from a server? I could probably use curl and hdiutil I guess...but I wanted to keep my installation scripts simple and not bloated. Thank you [link] [comments]
cDock and SIMBL installed while updating to 10.13.4? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 10:33 AM PDT Question... So I've recently (after updating to 10.13.3) installed cDock and SIMBL (after disabling SIP), and it's been working great. Will I have any issues when I upgrade to 10.13.4? Should I remove SIMBL? Help - Notes will not stay deleted Posted: 04 Apr 2018 06:43 AM PDT High Sierra 10.13.3 If I delete a note, it comes back as a previously auto-saved version I'm guessing. Would like to keep them deleted [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Apr 2018 02:47 AM PDT After updating to 10.13.4, fans run at 100% more frequently even though I just ran Safari & Mail. I also plugged in a LG 5K. Does anyone has the same issue with fans? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Apr 2018 02:52 AM PDT Hi, I upgraded to high sierra when it came out last year but quickly regretted it : memory leaks, graphical bugs almost everytime I opened my macbook's lid, terrible performance... very underwhelming. So I was wondering if those problems had been solved, if it was finally worth upgrading ? I'm not gonna use external gpu's or ssd adapters, I just expect little quality of life improvements. Thanks in advance ! [link] [comments]
Best app for running Android apps on Mac? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 02:14 AM PDT I'm a little confused. I'm just wanting something simple, easy and not laggy to run a few Android apps on my Mac, like Instagram. I've currently got BlueStacks but it sucks. It crashes, it's slow and takes awhile to load. Does ChromeOS have the ability to install Android apps now and is it downloadable and possible to install on Parallels? [link] [comments]
Macos Outlook 2016 high CPU use and SecItemCopyMatching in logs Posted: 04 Apr 2018 06:44 AM PDT Seeing this in the logs: It seems to be causing a lot of CPU use - anyone know why this is happening? Edit: Found the problem - it was an issue with a shared calendar - I removed that calendar and the entries stopped. [link] [comments] |
