Apple should allow to you tap an icon on your lock screen to retry Face ID Posted: 05 Apr 2018 10:07 AM PDT Maybe I'm just doing it wrong but I get extremely frustrated when I get a notification on my iPhone X but Face ID either doesn't realize I'm looking at the phone or it tried reading my face before I was fully looking at the screen. This usually leads to me turning the screen off and back on again (which is super slow) in order to try and get it to read my face again or I end up just having to enter my PIN. I think it would be a nice feature if you could tap somewhere on the screen to allow it to try again and thus saving me time and frustration. Anyone else have this problem? Edit: ffs how did I miss the typo in my title? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Apr 2018 01:56 AM PDT Hey /r/iphone , let me explain my statement a bit. For a few years, I was so so so hyped whenever a new iPhone was announced. Hell, even minor software updates like iOS4.1 got me all hyped up. The two weeks between an announcement and the initial release date were so stressing! in my opinion, things changed after the iPhone 5. I know there lies a good amount of nostalgia and I am a tad biased, but no iPhone nowadays will give me the same feelings as the 4 (or 5) /rant [link] [comments]
Snapchat finally releases iPhone X lenses Posted: 05 Apr 2018 11:03 PM PDT Snapchat has finally released the lenses that were showcased at the Apple event back in 2017. Have fun! :) [link] [comments]
iPhone 8 Plus battery Stress Test Results Posted: 06 Apr 2018 05:59 AM PDT Got a new 8 Plus yesterday. Putting the battery to an extreme stress test. Screen on full brightness, audio on full volume, either video or phone call in progress at all times. At 3 hours, the battery percentage is at 31%. I'll edit and update more. I would have put earlier percentages but it just occurred to me to make this post. Edits: 30 minutes: 76% Remaining (Approximate, from memory) 1 hour 15 minutes: 44% Remaining (Approximate, from memory) 3 Hours: 31% remaining 3 Hours 20 Minutes: 21% remaining 3 Hours 22 Minutes: 20% low battery warning 3 Hours 38 Minutes: 14% 3 Hours 45 Minutes: 10% low battery warning 4 Hours: 3% remaining - DONE... I can't stand one more second of that loud-ass speaker blaring MSNBC at me! So basically 4 hours of use in some of the most extreme usage conditions for the iPhone 8 Plus... not too shabby. How should I delay the death my iPhone 6? Posted: 06 Apr 2018 04:46 AM PDT So, I have a 3 yrs old iPhone 6 (16 GB) that hasn't had any major flaws so far. I don't know it was dumb or good, but a year or so back I stopped updating it. It's currently running iOS 9.3.3 and almost none of the apps are up to date ether. What I should do to make it work for as long as possible? Edit: There is obviously the question of performance, like battery time and speed. But also security, which I assume is better in the later updates if iOS. [link] [comments]
Still a good idea to buy an iPhone 8 now? Posted: 06 Apr 2018 03:43 AM PDT I am looking at the base model iPhone 8, and I am wondering how many years it will continue working for? iPhone X is slightly too big and can't justify the high price, so that's why I want the 8. [link] [comments]
[question] guys i need your help please Posted: 06 Apr 2018 04:51 AM PDT hello everybody. i have iphone 6s. unfortunatlly my screen got broken and i bought new one from ebay (best one with 5 stars) after whole screen replacment everything was fine for about 5-6 hours. after that my phone shut down. after i turn it on and after unlocking it gets SHUT DOWN everytime. i tried 50 times but i cant do anything. can you please help me what to do? im pretty sad :( [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Apr 2018 09:46 AM PDT Just looking for opinions here. I have T-mobile and I'm not locked in. Its cheap and has international. I'd probably just buy a new phone outright. I just want to know over the long run, what makes sense? I wanted to have a new phone for the summer, but I don't know if we'll see a drop in price until Sept from what people are saying. If I get the X, then I'm guessing I won't need to upgrade for a long time. 8, I save the money, but less shelf life? I'm not a fanatic and don't need to upgrade every generation. that's why I'm happy with 5, except camera is outdated and battery life kind of stinks. Anyways, I'm sure this has been covered a million times. I haven't bought a phone in years. [link] [comments]
display brightness keeps maxing by itself Posted: 06 Apr 2018 07:36 AM PDT i have auto brightness turned OFF but still at random times it will max my display brightness randomly. anyone else? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Apr 2018 10:20 PM PDT I made a post a week ago about my iPhone X which somehow got water inside the phone and killed it. It was condensation that was absorbed through the camera lens. I thought the water damage indicator was tripped, but I read it wrong. Fortunately, it was still white. I made an appointment and took it to the Apple store. I told them there was condensation in the lens and I had put it in rice for a couple days waiting for the appointment, which managed to absorb it all. I also mentioned I never submerged the phone in water and treated it like my baby. They said they would go ahead and attempt to run diagnostics. It was impossible to get any reads from the phone. So they took a peak at the water damage indicator and it was still not tripped, so they were still able to get me a replacement phone. They said in cases like mine, it tends to happen when someone has taken a steamy shower with mist on the phone. As soon as you leave the hot bathroom to a room with a much cooler temperature, the phone can literally suck the moisture in the cracks like a vacuum. I was told that since I mentioned there was water in the lens, they could have charged me $549 for damages. But since I was honest, patient and polite, they decided to replace the phone for me as a courtesy. Please take this as an example and be more careful with your phones. Water resistant or not, do not take them into the bathroom. P.S. The replacement phone is on 11.2 :( No jailbreak for me. [link] [comments]
Is it bad for the iPhone to charge it with the official 12W adapter? Posted: 06 Apr 2018 12:05 AM PDT I've been curious about it for a long time. If yes, why don't the iPhones ship with the 12W adapter instead of the 5W adapter? [link] [comments]
How can I make my device to ring even when its on silent mode for selected contacts ? Posted: 06 Apr 2018 07:05 AM PDT I use the mute switch a lot, forget to switch again and end up with tons of missed calls. Is there any option to select some contacts that will 'bypass' the silent mode ? In other terms when they call me, I need the phone to ring even if it is on mute. [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Apr 2018 06:47 AM PDT Ever since iOS 11 came out, many of the features of Maps have been totally broken for me. For a long time, the Maps widget would always say "turn on significant locations" (it was already turned on) - I reset location and privacy settings and that seems to have resolved that issue. Since then, the Maps widget always says "no destinations available". Beyond that, with iOS 11 it refuses to mark my parked car when I disconnect from CarPlay, it never recommends directions to home/work, and fails to grab location recommendations from my calendar. All of these features worked fine on iOS 10. For troubleshooting, I've uninstalled and re-installed Maps, reset privacy settings, reset network settings, and done a hard and soft reset. Nothing seems to work. Apple recommends restoring as a new phone, but I really want to avoid that if possible because it will involve a massive amount of effort to get my phone set back up the way I want. Has anyone else had similar issues? How, if ever, were you able to solve them? [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Apr 2018 06:20 PM PDT I'm on an iphone 6, I've only had it a year or two. The battery barely lasts two hours if i actually do anything on my phone. Heres an imgur link to my battery usage https://imgur.com/a/IhKiI [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Apr 2018 03:21 AM PDT Hi guys! So, my current Bluetooth earbuds (from JBL) just died, and I am looking for something to replace it with. I am not a headphones type of person, I prefer earbuds, and so, naturally I was thinking of the BeatsX. Not fond of AirPods, scared I might lose them on-the-go. I listen to music and podcasts on both my iPhone and on my secondary Android phone, so the W1 chip for easy pairing is dope, and the BeatsX can also work as a standard Bluetooth headset with my Android device. So, here are some questions for you guys: • Has anyone here owned and used the BeatsX? Mind to give a short review of it? • I heard the BeatsX are not water-proof nor sweat-proof. Is that a dealbreaker? • How will it be for workouts and general day-to-day use? Thanks! 🙂 EDIT: I mentioned that I am not a headphones 🎧 type of person, but, if you guys have a strong recommendation for any particular pair of headphones and you can convince me that it is the best for me, go ahead. Thanks! 🙂 [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Apr 2018 04:39 AM PDT Am I the only one who feels that the 7+/8+ is too big and the normal 7/8 is too small? I can barely press the lock button on the Plus. Coming from a 5.5 inch screen, the screen on the normal 7/8 feels way too small to me. Whereas the X feels perfect but out of budget. Has anyone else felt this way before and did u get used to the size? [link] [comments]

Anyone upgrade to the 8+ from the 7+? Posted: 06 Apr 2018 10:05 AM PDT I've looked through the threads but can't find one for this specific question, only people asking if they should get either or. I have a mint condition 256GB 7+ I got in October and it has Apple care + until the end of July 2019. There are 8+ 256GB models popping up on Swappa almost new for like $800 and I'm getting tempted. Is it worth the upgrade? I don't want to upgrade to FaceID in the distant future and I am worried if I leave it too late, the 7+ will lose more resale value. I could probably sell it, making the upgrade to the 8+ around $200. [link] [comments] |
