- If the next iPadPro gets redesigned after iPhone X there is a possibility that it will get a different screen aspect ratio, current iPads have the sorta boxy 4:3 ( most suitable for consumption ) while new iPP may sport the wider 3:2 ( most suitable for productivity ), it's what happened with X!

Non subscription coloring book? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 07:45 AM PDT Hey, I got the 2018 iPad and want to try a coloring book but they all seem to have a subscription. I have zero issue with paying for an app but I'm not interested in subscriptions style. Are there any apps available that maybe charge for packs or just a one time fee? Thanks [link] [comments]
Just got an Apple Pencil. Best apps for taking notes in college? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 12:04 PM PDT Post is self explanatory. I see a lot of suggestions for art/drawing apps, but not many for students who want to take notes. If possible, I'd prefer to be able to sort by subject and maybe even chapter, and resize the size of the writing to fit more into each page. Any suggestions? Free would be great but I don't mind paying if the app is truly great. [link] [comments]
GOODNOTES on iPad pro 10.5 vs competition?? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 09:04 AM PDT Just got new iPad. Want to start using the pencil to take notes. Leaning towards goodnotes. Seems like a powerful app, handles lots of formats, organized and most importantly for me is the OCR. Notability seems well liked but doesn't have the OCR. instead has the recording feature, which doesn't seem like something I'll need. Any major downsides to goodnotes? Any better alternatives? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 08:39 AM PDT I'm an owner of an iPad Air 1st gen and think the time has come to change it... I went to the Apple Store and tried the iPad Pro 10.5: it was amazing. I thought about waiting for WWDC and see if new iPads are shown but I think I'll go for this model. The only thing I'm worried about is the display. 120Hz is a very high refresh rate (after using it my iPhone X seemed to be lagging everywhere lol), and the thing is that I'm not sure about how will this iPad deal with future updates... Because the lag is even more noticeable (ex: complex Pages document) with a 120Hz display than with a regular one. The thing that didn't convince me about the Air was that it had the A7 processor... They should've put an A7X instead as it has been lagging here and there since iOS 8. So having the A10X on the iPad Pro kind of reassures me but not completely... So how do you think this device will deal with future updates (ex: iOS 12/13)? [link] [comments]
iPad pro 10.5 - back case? What to do with the pencil? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 07:26 AM PDT Just bought iPP 10.5 - have smart keyboard 1) would you recommend a back cover? 2) best way to store the pencil? Any thoughts on this? https://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Flexible-Transparent-Ultra-Thin-Resistant/dp/B01N4LHPZE I can't decide if I want this or a pen loop or one of those straps that hold it onto the cover. Regarding the link above, not sure how I feel about the bump the pencil will make on the side of the iPad when carrying it. [link] [comments]
iPad - Going paperless - Workflow Posted: 04 Apr 2018 06:54 AM PDT Hi guys, Apple recently released a new iPad made their target clear: schools. The low price of the iPad caught my attention and since I am currently studying at an university I purchased it two days after the launch including an Apple pencil. Now I am currently struggling with going paperless. My main issue is that I am unable to locate apps which are designed for what I'd like to do and do not have a subscription model. I'd like to be able to do the following on my iPad:
Moreover, I was under the impression that I write with the pencil and it converts the handwritten note to text -- That isn't the case I guess? Please feel free to share your workflow. I am really interested in reorganising myself. [link] [comments]

upgrading iPad Air to iOS 11.3?? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 04:13 AM PDT Have an iPad on iOS 9 and want to upgrade to iOS 11.3, do you think it's worth it? Also wondering peoples performance and is it really as bad as what I've heard. I mostly use mine for reading PDFs for university as well as YouTube reddit and iMessage. [link] [comments]
How do you delete Photos cache? What else would cause this? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 11:01 AM PDT So, after giving up on Apple at the release of the iPhone 7, just bought an iPad 2017. Everything was fine for the first few days. Then out of nowhere I had 11 gb of photos. I just assumed it was downloading everything from my iCloud Photos. Still wasn't too worried. Then it turned into 13 gb. Then 15. Now it's almost 18. The second any space becomes available it fills it. So, I assumed it was just the massive amount of photos I had, so I decided I would just download them to my PC laptop, side rant, iCloud is garbage on PC too and created 700 gb of temporary files until my hard drive was full, so that's already uninstalled and a rant for a different day. Anyway, all the photos are now on my laptop so I deleted everything from my iPad/iCloud. Restarted iPad twice. Still showing 17.x GB of data and documents. With no feasible way to delete them without paying $20 for a third party app to "clean" my iPad. Just adding on to the reasons I left apple and starting to regret giving them a second chance. If anyone knows how to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it. And yes I know the easiest way to clear cache data is delete/reinstall app, but since it is Photos that isn't an option. Posted: 04 Apr 2018 07:16 AM PDT I'm also curious to know if I'm getting a good deal. I don't know how old it is yet as I'm still waiting to be sent the SN, but it's a 128gb WiFi only model. Comes with a 3rd party case for $400US. If it's clean and no water damage, should I scoop this up? I was about to order a refurbished 32gb 9.7 Pro for the same price. I'd rather go have it today lol. Thanks guys! Update: Ok. I hit the lottery. First of all, there isn't a scratch on the thing. It's perfect. Secondly...and most importantly...it's a cellular model too! I'm blown away. The universe was kind to me today. Now, next month I should be able to get the pencil too! Awesome day. [link] [comments]

iPad 2017 Wobbly Home Button After Third-Party Screen Replacement Posted: 04 Apr 2018 10:39 AM PDT So over spring break my iPad display got cracked in transit. I didn't want to shell out the cost of a secondhand iPad just for a screen repair through Apple, so yesterday I took my iPad to a local repair shop. They performed the repair with no issues other than a price misquote that meant I had to pay another $30, which is understandable. They threw in a free screen protector because of the mishap. I was happy about getting my iPad repaired for only $110, so I took it home to set it up. As I was setting up TouchID, the home button felt weird. The button itself works, as did TouchID, but the home button didn't feel very secure. It would wobble around it's center quite a bit, and there was a decent amount of lateral play. I don't think there is any risk of the home button falling under the display, but it was annoying enough that I went back and asked them to fix it. They basically said that it was fine, and loose home buttons are to be expected. They said that the 2017 iPad was tricky and they put in the two strips of adhesive that holds in the home button bracket. He also said that the home button wasn't at risk of falling out of place, and that opening the device back up might crack the display. I did a little research, and it seems that having a wobbly home button after a repair isn't "normal," but rather the result of an incorrect repair. It seems most people's home buttons are at most have a little play, but don't wobble like mine does. From what I gathered, it seems that one of the culprits is damaging either the little rubber gasket around the home button or the adhesive that attaches it back to the display. I went to another local repair shop for a second opinion. The repairman I talked to there agreed that it was normal for the home button to be loose after a repair, but even though they would be annoyed at someone bringing their device back they would fix it. When I asked about the gasket, the repairman said the 2017 iPad doesn't have one, and that it has a very weird home button assembly that makes it difficult to re-secure. I was still skeptical, so I did a little more research. I looked at the iFixit instructions for replacing a 2017 iPad home button, and it has a gasket! Furthermore, the gasket is adhered to the backside of the display. My hunch is that the person who repaired my device either damaged the gasket or didn't properly re-adhere it to the back of the display. So, I have two questions for you all: Firstly, is it normal for home buttons to be wobbly after a repair, or am I correct in that the repair was done poorly? Secondly, am I justified in pressing the issue with the repair shop? I am sympathetic to how difficult doing these repairs can be, but at the same time the reason I paid them to do the repair is to deal with fine details like making sure the home button is properly secured. TL;DR iPad home button is wobbly after a screen replacement, repair shop said it was normal, am I justified in asking them to fix it? [link] [comments]

If Apple Pencil can scratch the iPad Pro, will those micro scratches affect me during doing art? Posted: 04 Apr 2018 02:30 AM PDT So I recently got myself a refurbished IPad Pro and I absolutely love it! Now I got myself a matt screenprotector cause I thought that the drawing experience would be far superior and was willing to make the trade off in terms of screen quality. When I tried it out the first few times I already could tell that I absolutely hated it, the grain was horrible and on top of that the drawing experience was around equally enjoyable compared to the naked screen. Now I have heard from many people on the internet how the pencil will scratch the screen when it picks up even the tiniest dust particle, and although I really don't mind some micro scratches that much, it would bother me a hell of a lot if those would affect my drawing experience if the pencil gets stuck in those cracks or the image quality worsens, you get my idea. So TLDR: do those micro scratches that could occur effect your art / usage of the Apple Pencil? Should I stick with the Matt screenprotector although I really really dislike it? [link] [comments] |
