Use a script to automate smc fan speed? Posted: 02 Feb 2018 12:22 AM PST Basically, I want to set temperature thresholds and have the fans changed speeds automatically. Is this possible? [link] [comments] |
How to show more text in finder file icons? Posted: 01 Feb 2018 04:36 PM PST I have some long file names that I'd like to be displayed. Is there any way of doing this. I prefer to use icon view, and so far to maximise how many words are showing in the file name I have maxed the grid spacing, reduced text size to the minimum I can see comfortably and increase the icon size as much as is reasonable. Is there a way just to show more of the file name however? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2018 10:20 PM PST All of my accounts in Mail are offline. When I try to go online in Gmail, it asks me to login, I enter the password, and then the next screen is just grey. Logging in with Yahoo says my password is incorrect. Messages is also acting weird. I'm able to receive messages, but not send them. Also, I can't send read receipts. Sounds like there's some weird SSL error. How can I fix this? [link] [comments] |
Mac's Bluetooth can't be discovered and doesn't discover any devices! Posted: 01 Feb 2018 10:52 AM PST Hi, I have a 2009 iMac and the Bluetooth stopped working. I tried everything from deleting the playlist file to resetting the Bluetooth module to reboots of the mac with all sorts of keystrokes to reset the system settings. Nothing seems to work! Any advice anybody? I can send the Bluetooth report file if that would help anyone in helping me :) [link] [comments] |
Can't drag picture from OWA to Word doc. Posted: 01 Feb 2018 09:27 PM PST I am trying to drag photos from my OWA email to a word document. Everytime I try it just disappears. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2018 02:30 PM PST I cant seem to figure out how to use this. I would assume 9 ↓ 5 = 2 9 = 1001 5= 0101 2= 0010 However, NOR anything in calculator ends up with all 1's. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Feb 2018 02:30 AM PST Has anyone tried running MacOS in a VirtualBox (Oracle)? Oracle says that it's hard, if hardware is not fully Apple's. OS itself is cheap, ships as DVD and not sure about download. There's also strange limitation of Windows virtualbox machines of 256 video memory - too low for graphical applications. I can use Linux or macOS in a virtual box or MacOs itself - unfortunately, almost all popular games, apps, are made for Windows and Mac. So Mac is just better in terms of security, well not "just" - but Windows needs an AV. [link] [comments] |
Can someone give me a terminal walkthrough Posted: 01 Feb 2018 12:17 PM PST Hello everyone. Basically, I am playing fortnite on my Mac. I looked up ways to increase the performance and decrease the lag, and I was told that giving the FortniteClient-Mac-Shipping.app file priority would be a great trick. I did some research and I found that you can do this through a number of ways, but the apparent easiest way was by using the nice and renice terminal commands. I have experience in using terminal but I want to make sure that I do this right and so I was hoping that someone could give me a step by step on what to do and how to sod this correctly. I am not trying to break my Mac. Thanks guys! [link] [comments] |
Silent click not working on 2015 MBP running High Sierra Posted: 01 Feb 2018 10:16 AM PST One day when I was still on 10.13.1 silent clicking just stopped working (one click was silent and the next was suddenly loud) and it hasn't been working ever since all the way through 10.13.2 to 10.13.3. I've tried various combinations of enabling/disabling it, restarting and resetting PRAM/SMC but to no avail. It's not a major issue, but the loud clicking is really annoying. Did anyone here encounter the same issue and found a solution? [link] [comments] |
Does MacOS take advantage of multithreading? Posted: 01 Feb 2018 01:55 AM PST Noob question. Got an iMac Pro on sale and was wondering if the 8 cores help with multi tasking and if MacOS (Safari, iTunes, etc., etc.) are optimized to use as many cores as needed? My main desire to upgrade was the ability to do more multitasking, not necessarily more demanding work. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
