iPhone iPhone 6s Stuck Apple Logo Loop

iPhone 6s Stuck Apple Logo Loop

    Posted: 01 Feb 2018 10:37 PM PST

So my phone was acting really bad lately and I decided to hard reset it (thinking that it would help out a little.) But then I just wouldn't start, the only thing that worked was the apple logo (white background black apple) showed up when I held the power button. I would wait for it to turn on but the screen would turn to black again.

I've been told to restore my iPhone but I do not want to lose my photos and everything on my phone, and I can't update it because my storage is out.

What can I do that can save my photos on my phone while turning back on my phone completely? Please help me find a solution I don't know what's going on.

Require passcode immediate is my only option now

    Posted: 01 Feb 2018 08:31 PM PST

I have an iPhone 7 Plus that I've had since it came out. In the Touch ID and passcode settings, I've always had my phone set to require passcode "after one hour". A few days ago, I noticed my phone started requiring me to enter my passcode every time I picked it up. I went in to check the settings and noticed that it for some reason had changed to require passcode "immediately". Confused I went to change it back only to discover that the only options for me now are "immediately" and "after 1 minute". Does anyone have any idea why I no longer have the "after one hour" option?

iPhone 7 Plus repair nightmare. Is there any recourse at this point?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2018 11:45 AM PST

I have a 128GB 7 plus which has had problems with the microphone not working during facetime and speakerphone calls. The problem seemed to develop after an iOS update about a month after purchase and normal use. It had been a minor inconvenience, but not a huge problem, so I held off on taking it in for repair, as there is no Apple Store within 60 minutes of my location.

Last week, I finally broke down and took it to an authorized repair shop (Simply Mac), who ran diagnostics and did a cleaning, however the issue persisted. They said my best bet for repair would be to send it in to Apple.

I sent a ticket to apple and sent it back in their packaging after a software wipe. When I sent the phone in, everything was functional safe for the mic problem stated above.

A few days later, I received a message from Apple saying the repair would not be covered (no notice as to why) and to call them regarding options.

Over the next week, I spent about 4 hours on the phone with a representative who stated that she wasn't sure why the repair was rejected, but that it could only be overturned by "The Engineers." An appeal was sent and rejected and I was notified that my phone was being returned.

I received the phone today, along with a notice that the repair was rejected due to "unauthorized modifications." I'm not sure what that means. I've made no modifications to the phone in any way unless application of a case and a ZAGG glass face shield count as modifications. I've only ever installed app store apps, and while I know jailbreaking an iphone is possible, I've never done it and have no desire to do so.

HERE'S THE KICKER: Now that the phone is back in my hands, it seems that the home button is nonfunctional. When I boot the phone up, it goes to the setup screen and asks me to "push the home button" to proceed, however home button pushes do not register.

So, I've gone from a phone with a minor inconvenience to a nonfunctional product, and now I'm sure the device is flagged as non-repairable in Apple's system.

I paid cash for the device (at Best Buy), so no credit card warranty. Additionally, I deregistered the device from Verizon when I sent it in for repair (bought an 8 plus and was planning on passing on the 7 plus to my teenage child), so no carrier warranty either.

Any recourse from here, or am I just hashed? As you can imagine, I'm pretty salty about Apple at this point - I've bought 3 iphones in the past year, as well as a MBP and iMac, but now I'm seriously reconsidering ever buying from them again.

    Thanks in advance...

    iCloud backup, photos missing?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2018 01:07 PM PST

So yesterday I realized that my iPhone 8 was unable to connect to any power source, or be recognized by my computer. I went to the Apple store and they set me up with a new iPhone. My last iCloud backup was made yesterday morning (before switching phones) and I haven't backed it up to my computer since September (bad I know). I also haven't backed up any of my photos since Thanksgiving.

To my knowledge, iCloud backs up the entirety of my phone each night, or whenever its plugged in and has a Wifi signal. Well, when I tried to restore the new phone from the last iCloud backup – no photos came back at all. Which is wierd because when I first got the 8, I went through the same process and had all my photos transfer from the iCloud backup. Now, there are no photos on my phone or on iCloud.com. Is there anything I could do to get my photos back?

I found an iPhone (5c?) and want to return it

    Posted: 01 Feb 2018 06:15 AM PST

I found a phone which I have been told is an iPhone 5C. I don't use iPhones so I have no idea. There is a passcode required which, obviously, I don't have.

The phone is charged but there is no information on the home screen to let me know whose phone it is, so I can't return it.

I tried to make an emergency call to my phone so I could trap the phone number and work from there, but I think that I can only call 911 with the emergency thing and I don't want to do that.

Is there any way to get the information for a phone? I am more than happy to go into an Apple store and let them do it if they can.

    Thanks.

    Advice needed for updating iphone.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2018 02:57 AM PST

I've had my iphone 6s for 2 years have never updated the iOS, as I've been told it slows down the performance. I was skeptical if that was true or not but decided not to bother with the updates.

Now I'm wondering if I update my phone after 2 years of not, will it cause any issues? Really don't wanna brick my phone, and the only reason I'm concerned is I've had an iphone die on my when updating before.

Anyone who knows about this - Id love to hear from you! Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Unable to move apps and messenger crashing constantly on an iPhone 7 Plus

    Posted: 01 Feb 2018 01:39 AM PST

Got a new charging cable and the messenger app crashed literally seconds after I plugged in it, despite the fact that it was working fine before; not sure if relevant, but worth mentioning I guess. I have reinstalled the app multiple times and did a hard reset once or twice. My old charging cable only works when plugged into a USB port, so we thought there was an issue with my adaptor but it's obviously working fine now.

The second issue, which is less serious and more inconvenient, is that I have a folder full of apps and I'm able to delete them, but can't move them out of the folder at all.

I love my iPhone 7, but I've honestly never had so many problems with any of my previous iPhones before and this one is fairly new, as I only got it in September :(

Why wont my 8 turn on.....

    Posted: 01 Feb 2018 01:08 AM PST

    Hi all,

Charged it overnight, was on 100% this morning, read BBC quickly and then sent a text and the next thing i knew it was off.

Since i know the battery cant be dead i dont know what to do, tried the up-down volume button and then holding side button. Tried home and side button. Have had it plugged in for the last hour and nothing.

Its pretty new and never had any problems with it before
