Outstanding customer service from Apple regarding Battery Program! Posted: 31 Jan 2018 02:07 PM PST I would just like to share with /r/apple the phenomenal customer service I received today at Apple. After struggling with my iPhone 6S+ battery for the last 2-3 months and after 2 unsuccessful genius bar appointments - I decided to take advantage of the battery repair program. I had an appointment at my local store here in Melbourne, and the genius that served me, was probably the most polite and friendly person I'd met in my life. After examining my phone, and concluding it needed a replacement battery, he informed me that it would be $39AUD to replace the battery, and $268.95 to replace the cracked screen to allow them to work on it - however as they were out of batteries it would be a 3-5 business day wait. I was glad he was able to actually offer me a solution; and I explained to him that I was a university student so money was a bit tight, and due to exams and work, I'm going to be strapped for time for the next 3-4 weeks. He quickly went and spoke to what I assume was his supervisor and explained the situation, and came back and offered me a brand-new replacement handset, as he could see Ive been in quite a few times and that he didnt want me waiting another month and still having to pay! So, Employee 973605295 - you went up and beyond any way I expected you to help me out, and you are the bloody best genius I have ever encountered! [link] [comments] |
Should Apple combine their Notes and Reminder app? Posted: 31 Jan 2018 03:06 PM PST Like many other I personally love Apple notes app. I also use their reminder app mostly for the "remind on location" feature. I feel if apple was to combine those two and update it with some more features they could really have something amazing. What do you think? [link] [comments] |

The Apple Watch still has potential to disrupt two industries Posted: 31 Jan 2018 06:26 PM PST From all indications, the Apple Watch seems to be on a successful path. As it is, Apple releases yearly upgraded versions that are faster, can do more with apps, and have more features. However, these upgrades have tended to be incremental, which is pretty common with most tech. At this point, the Apple Watch has become one of the top-earning watches in the world. Not smart watches -- all watches. I believe Rolex is the only watch company that makes more money. And the strength of the watch has basically crippled other manufacturers of smart watches - it doesn't seem as though Android Wear is gaining any traction, and competitors keep leaving the market. So, it already seems as though the Apple Watch has succeeded. It's doing what it's supposed to do, it's reaching the target market, it's selling well, it's a huge money maker. But what if the Apple Watch could do dramatically more? Does anyone remember the concept of smart bands? The Apple Watch has a tiny port that could, theoretically, allow for the support of a smart band which carries even additional features. From extended battery life to advanced health trackers, I can't help but suspect that, behind the curtain and with all eyes on the iPhone, Apple could be developing some smart bands that will dramatically elevate the usefulness of the watch. I'm wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on this - what if we got a surprise product line this fall that nobody is even thinking about? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 Jan 2018 01:40 PM PST When asked a question, Google Assistant seems to heavily rely on the featured snippets that Google often offers in the top of its search results. When shown in its announcement demo, Google Assistant often began its answer by sourcing the website first, followed by one of their accurate and concise snippets. For example, when asked "how do you get wine stains out of a rug," Google Home began its response by sourcing the featured snippet that is the first results, starting with "According to Patch…" and then completed its one-sentence answer Read more at https://www.business2community.com/seo/google-assistant-searches-means-seo-01720119 source. Why can't siri implement this with google search? Is it an API limitation? [link] [comments] |

MacBook Pro 13' TB Battery Life Keyboard Backlight Posted: 01 Feb 2018 12:07 AM PST Seems to turn keyboard backlight off after 5sec increases battery life dramatically. I wanted to share and see if this is just a fluke on my machine or if other people have noticed this or are willing to try. Battery life is so hard to measure seeing everybody uses their machine differently but would be cool to see if other people notice a difference. [link] [comments] |
What is it about Siri that has everyone so incensed these days? Posted: 31 Jan 2018 09:06 AM PST I hear people all the time talking about how infuriating Siri is. I read many comments on this sub from people who wouldn't even consider buying a HomePod until Siri was ready to be a better home assistant. When compared to Alexa or any other AI assistant, what are the types of things that they can do that Siri can't? I use Siri at least 1-5 times a day, setting alarms and timers, playing music, and that seems to cover all the bases I need. But I want to see a discussion about what some thing are that would truly make Siri rival these home assistants to you guys. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
iPhone X battery barely lasting 5-6 hours. Is there anything I can do without wiping it? Posted: 01 Feb 2018 12:50 AM PST My iPhone had pretty good battery life from launch date until the end of last year. Now it has halved at least, and i'm a very light user in the grand scheme of things. Over night it went from 90 to 35% with only safari open and my alarm set. Is there anything I can do without wiping it and setting it up as a new phone? All my settings such as background refresh are on the bare minimum (only 1 app is turned on for example). Last time I had this issue on my iPhone 7, i wiped it and set it up as a new phone which helped a bit, but it is so time consuming. [link] [comments] |
