Posted: 18 Feb 2018 05:32 PM PST As the title states, I have a few old MacBooks that I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place on. Excuse me for not being the most computer literate around, which is why I'm seeking assistance. •2007 (roughly) MacBook Pro (17" I believe) - this one I think I know the answer to. This was my college laptop. Used from 07-11 pretty hard. Took a few drops, shows wear. Screen hinge is cracked on the right side, screen release area, right above the button is bent, battery shot. •2010 (again, roughly) MacBook Pro 15". (No button for screen release). Trackpad is broken, and getting slow, but other than that, pretty good computer still. •2011 airbook (1st gen one). Bad battery and a lot of bloat from the kids playing on it. •1st gen iMac pro - slow as all, but still powers up. I don't have a certain use for any of them right now, other than just having another computer around that works, so would likely just be for media and web browsing. Mainly just trying to decide if it's worth it to refresh any of these, or just keep them in the stack their in currently, and continue to let the investments go to waste. —>sorry for format, it's posted from phone<— [link] [comments] |
2010 Macbook Headphones recognized in settings but no sound. Help? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 06:09 PM PST Hello this is my first post so please bear with me... I recently obtain a MacBook 2010 Polycarbonate Unibody. This is a problem I have never seen before as I have searched google to no avail and would like some info as to how I should go about fixing it. I go to plug in my headphones, no sound... I go to System Settings, Sound, Output, The macbook recognizes it has headphones plugged in and the sound is not on mute and the output device is set to "Audio port used for-> output"... I checked to see if there was the red light, nope thats not it either and I don't see anymore audio output devices on the menu only "Headphones" As my headphone are plugged in. Any help would be appreciated. Edit:I have tried different headphones still no go [link] [comments] |

Macbook Air headphone no sound Posted: 18 Feb 2018 05:39 AM PST I'm plugging in my headphone connecter in the and it's recognized by the Macbook but there is no audio coming out of my Left or Right headphones. I've tried changing the 24 bit interger in AUDIO MIDI to 32 bit and no results. I'm so confused because the volume button can be increased with the headphone's button but I'm getting NO Audio. Updated HDD to SSD- should I care if APFS is the primary file system? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 08:07 AM PST I upgraded my aunt's 2010 MBP 13 inch to 8GB of RAM and a 500GB Samsung 850 Evo SSD this past Sat. So far it performs better than her old 256 HDD and 4GB of RAM. But I noticed that the file system its using is the old HFS+. Is this because I cloned her HDD info into the SSD and just swapped it out after? Should her computer be on APFS since it has an SSD?
