| Problems with the new huge Mac Pro trackpad Posted: 23 Feb 2018 07:28 PM PST Maybe it is just me but anyone else having issues with new Mac Pro trackpad? I will try to explain a problem I am having although I am not 100% sure what causes it. I often find when I have to enter in text on a webpage, say for example typing search term in google, I noticed the submit button doesn't work. I think it is because part of my hand touches the trackpad. Of course I clear my hand from the trackpad and only use my finger but doesn't work. Happens all the time. I end up having to reload the page because the page becomes unresponsive. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 23 Feb 2018 10:23 PM PST I have a pair of bluetooth headphones that aren't connecting to my Mac anymore. They pair just fine with my phone and other devices so I know it's my computer. I tried deleting the preferences file. It worked for a day and now my computer once again can't find the device. [link] [comments]  |

I can successfully connect and browse the internet on my android phone, but her iPad times out loading web pages. It does successfully connect to the iPhone hotspot. Posted: 23 Feb 2018 08:25 PM PST Girlfriend gave me her old Ipod Touch 3rd Gen. and the Sound Check was already enabled, but it doesn't seem to work. | Posted: 23 Feb 2018 07:47 PM PST I changed my gmail password and now I am unable to connect or login through the mail app. I have El Captain 10.11.6. I'm not sure why it is doing that, but it's been like this since I changed the password. It won't even let me fill in the login info before that message comes up from system preferences. | HDMI adapter does not work iOS 11 Posted: 23 Feb 2018 06:26 PM PST I saw this doubt in the Apple community and I have the same problem "This used to work with my ipad. after installing iOS 11, video no longer plays on the TV. I see the ipad home screen and video selections on the TV, but when I select a video to watch, the video still plays on the ipad, but nothing on the TV. | Recovery Mode, DFU Mode, and other helpful hints Posted: 23 Feb 2018 11:45 AM PST On this sub over the past few months I've been subscribed I've noticed a lot of people instantly say to DFU restore a phone and I believe there is a lot of misconception about the difference between Recovery mode and DFU mode. Recovery Mode: This is the most common way to get back to a working phone for multiple issues and has potential to solve a fair amount. First thing to know is to recovery mode is evident by the phone/device displaying the connect to iTunes screen. When this happens whether on purpose or accidental, there are a few options. How to get to recovery mode can be found here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263 NOTE: placed this how to here because getting to recovery mode is different on different models starting after the iPhone 6s. While in recovery mode, connect the device to iTunes, what should happen next is iTunes should recognize the device in recovery mode and give a prompt to "Restore" or "Update," with updating being the default selected option. As far as least invasive to most invasive, selecting update, if finished completely will result in no data loss. If you are already running the most current iOS version, updating while win recovery mode with re-write the iOS software and could fix and glitches, again least invasive step with minimal change for failure given a good cable, updated iTunes, and a functioning properly functioning device in recovery mode. The other option, to restore, will erase all user data and re-write the software. This is the next step in the troubleshooting tree if an update via recovery mode fails. DFU Mode: Now as far as DFU mode, this is different and apple does not publish how to get into this mode nor do they recommmend this as a necessary troubleshooting step any longer. Technicians in store know how to do this, on all version of iPad and all version of iPhone except iPhone 8, 8+, and X. Apple has determined that DFU mode is no longer a necessary step for these model phones, as a restore, mentioned above, should resolve all issues software wise. The way to know a device is in DFU mode is when the display if black but when the device is connected to iTunes, iTunes will prompt that it has detected a device in recovery mode and will then give you the option to manually restore rather than a prompt to update or restore. Again the display will be off when in DFU mode, unlike recovery where the connect to iTunes screen will be visible. General troubleshooting step I like to use when given a software issues not easily narrowed down: 1. Ensure you have a backup 2. Reset all settings 3. Update while in recovery mode 4. Restore while in recovery mode, then restore from a backup 5. Restore while in recovery mode, then setup as a new device 6. DFU restore if absolutely necessary or evident to do so (charging or power issues) I hope this clears up some things around DFU and recovery mode as DFU mode is almost always a last resort and not wholly necessary. Tl;dr: Recovery mode and DFU mode are different and DFU mode should not be throw around lightly. [link] [comments]  |

Good news is i can boot into recovery and open terminal, and mount the disk if needed to work on it. Problem is: i can't figure out how to fix it. Where should I start looking for issues? How could i indentify which software is crashing the party? thank you for any help. I'd be willing to reinstall osx over if it didn't wipe my settings, which it certainly will. I also have access to a recent super duper backup but i can't recover from it because that software doesn't allow for restore from recovery or restore while mounted as the boot drive :( - however i have a copy of all the system files. The home button on my hardware stopped working 9 mos. ago so I've been using AssistiveTouch on my phone since then. However when I wiped/reset my phone tonight, AssistiveTouch was turned off and now I'm stuck on the initial set up screen for the phone with no way to seemingly get back into my phone. Posted: 23 Feb 2018 11:31 AM PST I'm a PC/AD Server guy for the most part, and I have now been tasked with managing several Macs and 15-20 iOS devices (Phones/iPads). None of them currently have any management software on them. I'm not completely foreign to Macs, I've worked on a lot of them and my wife uses a Mac pro daily I'm also an iPhone user. I've just never had to mange profiles, passwords, printers, or mapped drives on a Mac. I don't have clue were to even start with managing phones. Any suggestions for a mixed Windows/Mac environment would be great too. [link] [comments]  |

I transferred them to my iphone from my pc but they aren't in order from 1-21 and all the images for the videos are a black screen so I can't tell what is what unless I play them. Posted: 23 Feb 2018 07:03 AM PST After some work in the kitchen, I tried to use my iPhone 6s, pressed the Home Button (at that time it still vibrated) and also the turn on button, but the screen was completely dark. It should have had battery, because I charged it overnight. I still decided to charge it after some time pushing the power button and trying to wake Siri up, didn't work at all. Immediately after inserting the cord into the phone, I notice that the Home Button is now dead too. I didn't let it fall down, there shouldn't have been any water on my phone, it was all the time in my pocket abd I have no idea what it caused. Thx for any help! Edit: So I did some research and after a long time, I found out that since 6s, you don't reboot with sleep/wake and Home button, but instead the home button you use the sound lower button. I was wondering if others were experiencing this as well, or (although a very unlikely scenario) there is some sort of calling or recording app running in the background without my knowing. I have run a complete system scan with norton and malware bytes. Checked for extensions in google chrome. Any tips? Update- all the ad links first go to chaumonttechnology.com or so . I've already tried updating it through iTunes, but I can't get past needing to trust the computer, since that would require unlocking the phone, which immediately crashes it. I've also tried forced restart and regular restart, to no avail. We've also tried sending rescue texts to open and then delete the message but nothing has worked. [link] [comments]  |
| What is a Good Bluetooth USB Dongle for my Magic Mouse 2 and my Wireless Apple Keyboard? Posted: 23 Feb 2018 09:10 AM PST I bought the two to use with my PC (runs windows 8.1) as well as my mac book pro. My PC doesn't have blue tooth so I bought the "nexttech Bluetooth USB Micro Adapter" which uses the Bluesoleil 9.X software. It gets decently poor reviews and apparently doesn't offer the whole system it should, so I will most likely be returning it. But here's what I'm looking for: 1) Any way to possibly use the adapter I have and make it work. It picks up my mouse, but says it cannot connect, it doesn't pick up the keyboard at all. When I try to connect the mouse, I sometimes get a message saying the passkeys do not match, and I don't know where I can even enter a passkey. 2) Rather than keep this adapter, Ill return it and buy another one, in which case I'm looking for a suggestion for a Bluetooth adapter that will work on a PC running windows 8.1 and will working with apple's Bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse 2. | External hard drive enclosures Posted: 23 Feb 2018 08:58 AM PST The battery on my 2010 17" macbook pro blew up (not literally but its expanded enough to push the trackpad up). I have some stuff on the hard drive that I want get back, I know that I might just be able to replace the battery but the computers almost 8 years old so I figure I'll just get my data then get a new one.
