| iPhone 6 bugs ruining everything Posted: 25 Feb 2018 07:06 PM PST Sorry for the hyperbolic headline but it's been frustrating. I have an iPhone 6 operating of an old iOS, and I was having storage issues. My phone kept messing up and deleting random things like all my notes and now it deleted all my messages. Like 6 gigs worth. Kind of sad but whatever now I'll have free space? So I decide to update to the latest ios 11.2.6. Once updated, my phone was unable to log into the App Store. I try to sign in, it gives an "unable to sign in" and whenever I try to enter my information it does not proceed. Not to mention, in settings I still see a "storage almost full" prompt but that's kind of secondary to this strange Apple ID issue now. I tried logging into the Apple ID on my laptop and it worked just fine. I also tried another Apple ID on my phone and that gave the same error messages so it's not specific to my Apple ID. My iPhone became inaccessible to me today randomly, while I was using it. It is stuck on the 'lock screen' except I can only see my background wallpaper and my grey accessibility icon. My home button stopped working a long time ago so I use this as my home button. I can move this icon around on the screen which indicates that the screen is still responsive, but I can do nothing else. When I try to turn off the iPhone with the Sleep/Wake button, the 'slide to power off' option does not appear. I cannot do a hard reset (holding Sleep and Home for 10s) because the home button is broken, and it doesn't seem to let me do it by holding the 'home' icon through accessibility. Is there another way to do a hard reset? The only thing I can think to do is let it run out of battery and then see if it works when it is charged. But it was 100% before this happened so it could take days without doing anything to drain the battery. I just started university so I really need a source of internet to help me get around campus etc. If anyone has any suggestions or fixes I would be so, so grateful. Thanks very much. EDIT: Also when the bug happened my music was still playing, the phone still rings when it recieves calls, and the background is zoomed up closer than it normally is. [link] [comments]  |

Today when I did so it wouldn't load any messages from before an hour ago. They are still stored on my phone but they won't load. Tried force restarting with no luck. | Force Restarted iPhone 6, Stuck On Opening Screen. Posted: 25 Feb 2018 09:41 PM PST A few hours ago I force restarted my phone and it is stuck on the opening screen where it's all black minus the white Apple logo. I can try and force restart it again but I'm stuck on the same screen. I tried letting it die and once I plug it back in, guess what, stuck on the opening screen. It's late here and so I tried chatting with Apple support, which was frustrating to say the least. At this point I have to set up an appointment at the store. It's been like this for about 4 hours. | Should I install updates on iPad Pro 12.9"? Posted: 25 Feb 2018 08:38 PM PST iOS 10.3.2 either has battery drain issues or that's how the iPad is with the bigger screen. I never liked updating iOS, because every older iPad became slower after updates. iOS 7-9 have been awful to me on older devices. I am tempted now, but I never saved blobs. | Posted: 25 Feb 2018 03:36 PM PST I'm trying to download some episodes of a Japanese Anime to watch on my iPhone 6s. On my first attempt I downloaded them all as seperate "home videos" and it was quite cluttered so I switched it to a "TV Show" and tried that. Unfortunately, now when I click on the play button within each individual episode, the screen goes black as if the video will begin to play and after about 5 seconds returns to the episode play screen. They worked as seperate home videos but now that I try and put them in the same season of a TV show they don't work. On ITunes, I have checked the box that said manually change music and videos. | Creating Apple ID: Email address is not available. Posted: 25 Feb 2018 07:04 PM PST I'm trying to create a new Apple ID from scratch because my old one has a lot of crap data that I can't seem to delete and would require extensive effort to sort out. I want to keep the gmail that I've used on the old Apple account on the new one, so I created another email to swap with the old and making sure the gmail is not listed as a recovery or an alternate in the old account. However, the account creation is still saying that the email is unavailable despite iForgot verifying that it is no longer an Apple ID. Logging in using the gmail also implies it is free. Called MY-APPLE, but they say it's still associated and could still be used to login to the old account in 24 hours, which led me to think why is there a point to changing and removing an email in the first place if they still have it in the system. | Baked my logic board, it booted up once and now it seems dead Posted: 25 Feb 2018 03:49 PM PST Working on a Macbook that was displaying the a blue screen. Google-fu lead me to try putting the logic board in the oven. I had nothing to lose, it's a 7 year old Macbook out of warranty. http://ales.io/2014/03/09/how-to-bake-a-mac.html https://ifixit.org/blog/6882/why-i-drilled-holes-in-my-macbook-pro-and-put-it-in-the-oven/ and to my amazement...it worked! The glitchy display and the blue screen gone! However the keyboard wasn't working. So I did a shutdown. Apple>Shut Down.... I unplugged the charging cable. Checked the keyboard ribbon/connector...it was loose. Plugged the charging cable back in and nothing. There's absolutely nothing happening when I push power, like it's dead in the water. Any ideas? | Photos not being uploaded to icloud after icloud storage upgrade Posted: 25 Feb 2018 06:23 AM PST Hi, I'm having problems with uploading my photos from my iphone 8 to the icloud automatically - it used to have no problems uploading, until i hit the free 5 gb limit. Afterwards, the photos stopped uploading, and after about a month i finally upgraded my storage to 50gb. However, the photos taken during the time between the 5gb limit and the storage upgrade (about 5000 photos) arent being uploaded, even though new photos are being uploaded instantly. I tried all the options available, including turning phone and icloud on and off, apple id logout, deleting data, photo stream, photo upload quality etc etc, the most common solution seems to be "give it time, itll upload by itself", but ive already waited 2 weeks, and i dont think its happening. I went to the apple store to ask, the person at the genius bar told me to turn on the backup to icloud - now i have 27gb of "backup" but i cannot access that data through the photos app from my icloud. My phone says i have about ~6000 photos, but my icloud photos app only shows ~1700 photos. thanks for your help [link] [comments]  |

| MBA, No USB devices work except in safe mode Posted: 25 Feb 2018 02:42 PM PST My macbook air (mid-2013, 13inch, HS 10.13.2) fails to detect/use any USB devices properly. I have tested it with a USB mouse, keyboard, flash drive and external hard drive. The mouse and keyboard appear to do nothing. The drives appear in Disk Utility, but are greyed out ("unmounted"), and manually mounting with >sudo diskutil mount always times out. Similarly, unmounting manually fails. Interestingly, when I check About This Mac/System Report/USB (or run >system_profiler SPUSBDataType) I see 'phantom' entries for any USB device that has been plugged in (since the last reboot), even if it's no longer plugged in, along with an error of the type "SPUSBDevice: IOServiceGetMatchingService did not return anything for location <e.g. USB device location...>". All devices work perfectly in safe mode, so I know it's not a hardware issue. They also work perfectly with other macbooks, an iMac, and various windows/linux machines, so I know they're good. I have tried: - reformatting USB devices - reset SMC and PRAM - many many reboots - turning off all login items in SysPrefs/Users & Groups It seems to me that some rogue piece of software is grabbing my USB devices on boot and preventing anything else accessing them properly. I have enabled file sharing on my MacBook Air in my house and can access it from any computer on my local network. I want to be able to access it (i mean the files, like 'connect to server') from another computer (my MacBook Pro) from any network in the world. There is a 'use global dynamic host name' option i think is somehow linked with outside network access. For this feature to work i need a global DNS, which i have set up, but for what ever reason it wont work, at all. I opened a case in the Apple community but haven't gotten any answers. link to apple community case: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8251518 The furthest i've gotten is a message saying that there are too many users trying to access the server i've trying to connect to. | Posted: 25 Feb 2018 01:39 PM PST Currently looks like this which is obviously not ideal when using reddit night mode or working on anything that's colour sensitive as it always has a green tinge. I do have the screen in warranty due to it being replaced less than a year ago, so I may set up a Genus appointment, but are they likely to replace this? My trackpad is not working as it's supposed to (hard to explain, but it's much harder to click than usual? still does all the same stuff but just doesn't do it well. Force touch still works). I've checked all my settings regarding the trackpad, nothing has changed, and nothing I change fixes my issue. I've been trying to boot the mac in both safe mode (shift on start up) and diagnostic mode (d/option+d on start-up). After about an hour of trying to do both, I've given up and am coming to you guys for help/advice, for both the broken trackpad, and figuring out why I can't boot in safe/diag mode.
