Don't call AppleCare today our queue has 5K people and a 45 minutes wait because yahoo mail is down Posted: 17 Feb 2018 11:23 AM PST RIP me when everyone yells about the wait before I can even apologize for it. [link] [comments] |

I wish Apple Maps notified me of an upcoming directional change about 100 feet earlier Posted: 17 Feb 2018 06:24 AM PST I know the system goes in x.x miles turn right, in half mile turn right, but I'm talking about the final notification when Siri would just say 'turn right' and I miss them sometimes because I don't have a chance to move over. Or I'm zoned out. But what prompted me saying this is I just moved to a new city and I'm using Maps all the time. Just a little frustrating and seems like it would be an easy fix. [link] [comments] |
My cat took a very liquid sh*t on my keyboard. How do I get red of the smell Posted: 17 Feb 2018 07:21 PM PST I've removed the keys, and hit each key and keyhole with rubbing alcohol and compressed air. Also soaked the removed keys is soap, however the device itself still has this putrid odor. How do I get rid of it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Feb 2018 09:25 AM PST Happened a couple weeks ago but all the stores near me (Philadelphia area) now accept Apple Pay. Weirdly enough, they still don't accept chip transactions. Thought I'd let the PA Atlantic and Florida region know. Next up: Chipotle hopefully [link] [comments] |
How many people use iCloud exclusively? Posted: 17 Feb 2018 10:10 PM PST The majority of people in my circle use gmail for contacts and mails and iCloud for calendar. How about r/apple? I personally use Google for email, contacts and calendars because I came over from Android and there's no incentive at all to switch. iCloud email is bad on the browser and spam filtering isn't great too. Starman, our game, released for iOS last November, is coming to the mac. And we need beta testers :) Posted: 17 Feb 2018 02:45 PM PST Last November, after almost two years working on it, my brother and I released our first game: Starman :) Now, we are about to release it for tvOS and Mac/Pc, and we are going to need beta testers really soon. If you feel like giving it a try, just DM us on twitter :) Thank you all! Edit:: Whoa! We woke up being Game of the Day (iOS) in many countries around the world!! What a surprise :) [link] [comments] |

See your apple music/iTunes stats Posted: 17 Feb 2018 06:08 PM PST Remember that 2017 wrapped thing that Spotify had? Well I made a way more extensive version of the for iPhone! The app is called Sound Waves, it's completely free and it works with music bought through iTunes and Apple Music. I made this app to help get into college and I think it helped my applications a lot! (I sent them beta versions) However, now that I have sent my applications off, I am releasing it! If you have any feed back/suggestions please don't hesitate to PM me or use the AppStore support email for the app. The app also features: -Force Touch peek and pop -force touch home screen shortcuts -a widget for NC Also, don't forget there is a share button in the top right corner to share your stats! Here is the link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sound-waves-analyze-your-music/id1326673854?ls=1&mt=8 [link] [comments] |

Posted: 17 Feb 2018 08:25 PM PST Context: I have small children, and am frequently carrying them and their accoutrements. The idea of a being able to check and respond to notifications and make/take calls with minimal hand use sound incredibly useful. Is this a niche scenario, or is the experience just not up to snuff? Apple needs to implement some iOS 11 iPad features into macOS. Posted: 17 Feb 2018 08:56 AM PST Currently if you are using an application in fullscreen and want to open a second application in one half of the display and keep the app youre using running, it has kind of several steps involved. You have to either open the dock or launchpad, open the second app, which opens in a separate window, you have to then swipe up to initiate mission control, and drag the app all the way into the proper space. This behavior kind of feels clunky and gets in the way. Wouldn't the whole iOS 11 iPad Dock behavior make total sense to implement on macOS? Pull up the dock, drag the icon onto full screen app, open it in one half of the screen? Or, open launch pad, grab an icon, launch pad closes, let go and app appears in one half of the screen? Even allowing this to create small floating windows over a full screen app would sometimes be useful, it would function similar to "slide over" on iOS 11, or the mode the app will open in before you put it into split screen on iOS, where it's a floating window and you can slide it on and off the screen when you're done. I'm not calling for a macOS/iOS hybrid, but I just feel that this particular behavior in iOS would have a great fit in macOS, and it may bring some parity between the two OS's that would make people already know how to use it when getting a new device for example. The current split screen solution on macOS is completely different from any iOS implementation ever, and the new or casual macOS users I know never know how to use split screen. [link] [comments] |
Voiceover in iOS 11 still mentions that iOS has a ‘5th signal bar’ Posted: 18 Feb 2018 01:00 AM PST A recent change on iOS 11 was to make the status bar modern and contain only four bars. But it's just cosmetic changes. Under the hood, the 5th bar is there, but just not shown. Here's how: 1. Go to Settings and search VoiceOver 2. Turn it on 3. Press the signal bars, and listen carefully No wonder why VoiceOver still have that...robotic voice. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Feb 2018 07:59 PM PST I have a first gen Watch, that I purchased in the US a few months after it came out. I'm aware of this issue and I believe there's a 3 year extended warranty for it. However, I've since moved to Australia and having chatted to support, they say that there's no service Center in Aus that can repair US purchased watches, and that extended warranty doesn't apply here so I would have to pay anyway. Their recommendation is to ship the Watch to someone I know In the US, then have them contact support for the repair, but I think there should be a better solution than shipping it halfway around the world. Does anyone have any recommendations? [link] [comments] |
Anybody know how to restore a 4K Apple TV (it doesn’t have a USB port) Posted: 17 Feb 2018 09:45 AM PST Hi all - feeling a little frustrated with Apple engineers this morning. I bought a 4K Apple TV about a month ago. Last week I tried to turn it on and it started flashing its white light rapidly. No output to the tv, and no input from the Apple remote (as far as I can tell). After some research it appears that this is a common problem with older models, that's easily solved by connecting the Apple TV to your computer and performing a restore. Problem is - there's no USB port on the 4K Apple TV. I went to my local Apple store and they had. O idea what to do. They're ordering me a replacement unit, but it will take at least a week to get here. Does anybody know how to perform a restore on a 4K Apple TV? There's gotta be a way. [link] [comments] |
What is the smartest Siri answer you've ever received? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 01:41 AM PST I'm almost never impressed with Siri's answer to any complex question, but there was one which surprised me on a road trip: "find me the closest Mc Donalds North of my location" Have you guys found any other questions that it answered surprisingly well other than basic weather or set a timer type statements? People that were negative about the new Pro MacBooks and then still bought one: How do you like it? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 01:20 AM PST Originally I had an Air from 2011 and sold it 3 years ago. Instead of the new MacBook Pros I thought an iPad Pro could fulfill my needs but it really doesn't. Debating wether or not to buy a MacBook Pro. Also is the Touch Bar model worth it? I would much rather get the non TB model but have it have 4 USB ports instead of those 2..... [link] [comments] |
The production of 13“ MBPs with 16gb of RAM seems to have stopped. Posted: 17 Feb 2018 03:30 AM PST I have looked at the expected shipping dates and it moves to 3 days later every 3 days, keeping the wait time at 3 weeks at all times. Is there a new model coming out and have these been discontinued? Has production been shut down due to the ram shortage? Is it worth downgrading to 8gb to get it more quickly? [link] [comments] |
What device first made you a fan of Apple? Posted: 17 Feb 2018 08:38 AM PST For me, the iPod sold me on the brand. When the exciting world of mp3 opened up and I was able to ditch the CDs, nobody did it like Apple. The iPod functioned flawlessly, the interface was intuitive, and the device was aesthetically sharp. I've been a fan of most of their products ever since. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 17 Feb 2018 06:13 AM PST Hello, Can you guys please tell me your experience with the keyboard of the base macbook pro 2016 and 2017? Are you constantly changing the keyboard? Is it better to wait for the 2018 one, maybe it will have a better keyboard? [link] [comments] |
Any reason to use Word over Pages for university essays? Posted: 18 Feb 2018 01:49 AM PST Pages has always worked well for me, not that I've ever used it much. Changing degrees from IT to one that will require more essay writing, is there any reason to not use Pages? I can get Office for free with my student address, so cost isn't a problem.
