So I'm a weird one where my first smartphone ever was windows phone 7 and I've been with it until a few day ago when I picked up an iPhone se 64. It's kick ass and a great match to my MBP which I only just got in the fall. It's a great ecosystem. That's all!

Can we fast charge our iPhone using a type C to type A dongle and a normal lightning cable instead of the type C to lightning cable itself? If no, why not ?

Accused of « tampering » with my IPhone 7 at the Genius bar.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2018 12:48 PM PST

Hey everyone, Back in 2016 I bought an IPhone 7 at the Apple Store. It worked flawlessly until about a week ago when it crashed after I unplugged it from my charger. When I tried to turn it on, it displayed a lightning charger under the iTunes logo and Apple's restore page URL. I tried to restore it etc... but it would always fail telling me « error 9 ». Upon searching I realized that it was an issue with my lightning port. Since I bought the IPhone with AppleCare, I decided to take an appointment at the Genius Bar. Once I arrived, I told them the problem etc and the guy asked me to delete the IPhone 7 from « Find my IPhone » and to sign the contract that said the replacement took place. I received a confirmation email telling me that they replaced the IPhone etc... basically things seemed to be normal. However 5 mins later he comes back and tells me « Your IPhone has been opened and the back cover replaced, we can't replace your phone. », I was surprised because I never opened it, I never sent it to repair before nor gave it to anyone. He then tells me that « the case and screws don't match with a true IPhone 7 » and that when he opened it « the adhesive that kept the screen was absent » I tried to talk with him but he refused to listen, so I went home disappointed, I bought a f*cking expensive phone with a god damn warranty and they don't want to replace it.

But here's the thing : -Both screws and case are identical to the real one : https://imgur.com/a/UvHvq -Isn't it impossible to refuse the replacement AFTER signing the act claiming it took place? -Can I try another Apple store? But if he opened the phone, then they will probably think I opened it as well, right?

It's just absurd because I never opened my phone, the only possibility would be that the Apple store sold me a « fake » IPhone... (which seems pretty god damn dumb) Anyway I just don't know what to do. Should I first call Apple support to tell them the issue or should I simply try other Geniuses bars?

Tldr : Phone got bricked, tried to get it repaired with Apple Care, dude refused, telling me I « opened my phone » despite never doing so.

Edit : Thanks for all the advices everyone, I'll try to get this solved asap and keep you updated.
