Question about programming on the iPad Posted: 15 Jan 2018 08:29 AM PST I wonder if someone could give me some tips/recommendations about finding a good remote server that I can use with any of the ssh-supported-texteditors. I understand it is one of the options to work with code while on the ipad, but I have no understanding of it. As a math student all I want to do is run some code, while using my very portable iPad. (1) How (and where) would I go about renting a domain and how difficult is it to setup? (2) Do you know of any services specialised for students or are free for students? [link] [comments]
iPad artists (and others), how do you handle file management? Posted: 15 Jan 2018 11:40 AM PST I love sketching on my iPad but the folders in procreate are very limiting for keeping everything organized. Any tips? [link] [comments]

Good screen protector for iPad Pro 10.5? Posted: 15 Jan 2018 12:48 PM PST I just got an my new iPad yesterday and now I'm trying to find a good screen protector for it. I was looking at the Zagg invisibleshield Glass+ or hdx, but both are expensive and I couldn't get an answer from the guy at Best Buy how much the protector causes the screen to reflect. Should I still go for one of those? Is there another brand that's better? [link] [comments]
First time iPad owner looking for advice. Posted: 15 Jan 2018 12:01 AM PST Hey guys, I just received a 12.9" iPad Pro for my birthday and I was wondering if you guys could provide some input on some of your favorite iPad accessories. I'm looking for a case, screen protector, and possibly a keyboard because I want to use it to replace my laptop. My budget for all the accessories is around ~$100 as I'm broke lol. Please recommend me some of your favorites! Thanks UPDATE: As I am reviewing the comments, I see that a screen protector isn't necessary (?) or most people advise against it. I'm leaning against buying the Pencil because it's quite a bit $$$, but once I generate some income I will reconsider it. I am still considering case and keyboard suggestions, but the one that /u/sparksdls recommended is my go-to right now! Planning on ordering my accessories tonight. I'm very excited! 2016 Pro or 2017 “Regular” iPad! Posted: 15 Jan 2018 06:17 AM PST Hello all, need your opinions! Need to order a new iPad today or tomorrow since my old one is on its last legs, was wondering which is better, a 2016 iPad Pro, or a 2017 iPad, both with cellular capability. $450 for the pro, 9.7, $460 for the 2017 iPad. Thank you all! [link] [comments]
Apple Care + question for iPad. Posted: 15 Jan 2018 12:16 AM PST So I bought an iPad Pro 9.7 inch second hand and I checked the serial number and it apparently still has Apple Care + that the original owner purchased with the iPad that is still active. I was going to take advantage of the $50 screen repair with the coverage but I don't know if I need paperwork or proof or Apple Care insurance. Does anyone know if that's required? Because they could just run my Serial Number and see right in front of them that it's covered. Going into an Apple Store would be my preferred method since it's quicker but if paperwork is an issue I can always send it in. [link] [comments]
Apple Pencil always almost dead when about to use again. Posted: 14 Jan 2018 07:50 PM PST Every time I'm about to use the Apple Pencil, it's always has a low charge. I always check how much battery it has after I'm done using it, and if it's lower than 30%, I charge it first before putting it back in its box and leaving it on my desk. When I'm about to use it, the battery level is always below 20%, most of the time below 10%. Right now I'm about to use it but it's at 2% so I'm getting pretty annoyed. I have read that the Pencil "disconnects" when it doesn't detect movement. This should be the working for me since I just put it in its box on my table. I use it once or twice every week. Should I just completely disconnect it from my iPad every time or is there another solution, or should I maybe get it replaced? Thank you. [link] [comments]

iOS 11 handwritten notes to text conversion experiences Posted: 14 Jan 2018 08:37 PM PST Hi, I wanted to ask how's the experience so far with the conversion of handwritten notes to text in iOS 11 in conjunction with an iPad Pro since this is an enticing feature for me. Does it only recognise block letters (like shown in this video) or also cursive? Do handwritten notes show up in Spotlight seaches (iOS and macOS)? Thank you in advance 🙂 [link] [comments]
Is there an app that can give me some basic Photoshop functions. Description in comments. Posted: 14 Jan 2018 05:41 PM PST So is there an app that I could open up image files and resize, transform, cut, lasso parts out, change image size, tweak color levels, etc.? I could do all that on my computer with Photoshop, but doing it on my iPad with my Pencil just seems SO easy! And then I could just drag them to my email and send them to where I need. Writing app for casual writing Posted: 15 Jan 2018 02:59 AM PST I'm looking for a casual writing app for iPad and iPhone. A few years ago, I bought Scrivener for OSX and while I loved the design of it, it felt a bit overwhelming with all those options. I ended up liking the writing mode with no distractions the most. This is why I'm not sure about the iPad version of the app. What I'm looking for mostly is for something that syncs between devices and that's relatively fast. I often write when inspiration strikes and that seems to be in public transportation very often. I'm not too sure about Ulysses (the subscription model is a bit of a turn off). How does it compare to Scrivener? Has anyone heard of iA Writer? It seems like it could be what I'm after. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it. [link] [comments]
