Posted: 26 Jan 2018 11:03 AM PST Yesterday as I was getting into bed I realized My AirPods were not in my pocket, and I still decided to go to bed. This morning I searched my house, and called the restaurant that I had went to last night, and they said they did not find anything. So I brought up find my IPhone and it says that the last time they were connected was 4:21pm yesterday right at my house where I am right now. Both AirPods are in their case, so I want to know if the "last time connected" means they last time the case was opened? Perhaps if I had brought them with me to the restaurant and then not opened the case and left them their would I still see the last time connected as at my house? I couldn't find a clear answer for this, I just want to know if the last time connected means that they are most likely in my house. I guess what I am asking is are the AirPods connected if the case is not opened. [link] [comments] |
Cannot select Bluetooth device in control center Posted: 26 Jan 2018 04:48 PM PST Any idea why i cannot choose these Bluetooth headphones from the control center? I've tried restarting at least three times. Tried deleting and adding them back. No luck. [link] [comments] |
dropped my macbook pro, screen has been steadily deteriorating for roughly 4 months now. Posted: 26 Jan 2018 10:13 PM PST pictures of issues: dead on left side, glitchy bottom it started with just the side being fucked, but the bottom has been steadily growing over the past few months. it's been usable up until now, but the screen jumps over the place every few minutes and it's driving me a little insane. first, is this even "fixable" or should i really be looking into buying a new laptop. secondly, if fixable, do i need apple to fix it or can i get it done third party? thirdly, roughly how much am i looking at spending to fix it? Possible to use Apple TV for Airplay with projector/TV off? Posted: 26 Jan 2018 04:06 PM PST So here's our current setup that I need a little bit of help with. We have:
What I want to be able to do:
Can I do both of those things directly through an Apple TV? The projector has an 1/8" audio jack, so I know I can plug the receiver directly into the projector and get audio that way, but I don't want to have to turn the projector on every time just to listen to music. I also considered getting an Airport Express to get Airplay on the receiver and use that to connect to the Apple TV, but I'm wondering if that's even necessary if I can do everything directly through the Apple TV. Also with Airplay 2 coming out, I'm not sure if Airport Express will support that. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Jan 2018 09:29 PM PST On my old, mid-2011 iMac, I had the option in Energy settings for "Computer Sleep - Never." My new 5k iMac, however doesn't. My Plex Server sits on this computer, but can't be accessed after the iMac falls asleep. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jan 2018 08:49 PM PST My IPad is showing almost 50 GB worth of "media", but I only have about 15 GB of video and photos, and zero of music. Any idea what else could constitute "media"? [link] [comments] |
Spark from 2015 Macbook Pro audio port after plugging in power cable...? Posted: 26 Jan 2018 08:32 PM PST I hadn't used the computer for about a week, so I just plugged it into power before even turning it on and as soon as it was plugged in there was a pop and spark from the headphone jack on the computer and now it smells like burnt plastic. Nothing from the charging port though and the charging cable seems fine. The computer is working (I'm typing on it right now, inb4 it blows up and I lose my fingers). Anyone heard of anything like this before? I can't replicate it lol. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
I've Been locked out of my ipod Posted: 26 Jan 2018 08:30 PM PST Hi, so i have an old 4th Generation Ipod touch that i have completely forgotten the password to. I have already tried to put it into recovery mode and do a recovery on Itunes but it kept giving me error 1601 and i just gave up after swapping usb ports several times. I mostly just want to get my music off it but pictures would be a nice bonus, and un-fortunately i don't remember my Icloud information so i cant do it through a backup or anything like that. Any help is much appreciated! thanks! [link] [comments] |
"Not enough device storage" pops up every time I use photos... but I have plenty of storage Posted: 26 Jan 2018 02:22 PM PST My iPhone storage is 50.1GB out of 64GB. That's 14GB of free space. Any thoughts on what's happening? Would love not be get bugged by this all the time. It shouldn't matter, but FWIW I also have 28GB free in my iCloud. [link] [comments] |
Deleting a Windows 10 Bootcamp partition? Posted: 26 Jan 2018 08:08 PM PST I'm trying to delete the Windows 10 partition that I created on my MacBook Pro using BootCamp since I just don't need Windows anymore. I've tried using Bootcamp assistant as recommended on the Apple website but I get the error message:
So I tried following the instructions on this Apple Support thread. My Windows partition is listed as devices "disk0s3" and "disk0s4" (the latter of which I think is due to a Windows update since it's only like 900MB) How do I fix this error so I can get all of my drive space back to MacOS? By the way I'm running macOS 10.13.3 High Sierra. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jan 2018 12:19 PM PST I have an upgraded 2009 Mac mini. I have the mini-DisplayPort connected to a Samsung monitor via an adapter to VGA. The monitor has previously displayed at 1920x1080 when using a mini-DVI to VGA adapter - I am attempting to avoid using that because the associated cable is a bit too short. At first boot using the mini-DisplayPort to VGA adapter, the Mac mini display was set to 800x600 and checking the scaling options, 1920x1080 simply isn't available. Until I can get a longer mini-DVI to VGA cable, is there a way to get the resolution to 1920x1080? Would a mini-DVI to DVI cable be a wiser investment? I don't want to drown the house in spare cables but I would like the proper resolution on my monitor... [link] [comments] |
Mail signatures containing images not working in iOS 11, anyone have a fix? Posted: 26 Jan 2018 03:55 PM PST So it used to be, in the days before iOS 11, that you could create an HTML signature in your mail application on your mac, and then send that email to yourself, copy the signature on your iPhone/iPad and then paste it into the signature section in the Mail section of the Settings app, then "shake to undo" any formatting the os put in there, and voila, it'd now show up on all your outgoing email. But now that no longer works, at least as far as Images are concerned. Our business has a logo image in it's signatures, and when I'm trying to deploy these signatures, the image will no longer show up. What has changed about this that has broken mail signatures in iOS 11? What is going wrong with my procedure? Can anyone assist with this? Our owner isn't too pleased about this change, and I'd like to present him with, ideally, a fix or workaround... I just don't know what it'd be, and I know that the answer "don't use iOS mail" or "buy a new client" won't fly in this situation. Are we completely screwed due to some shitty code Apple is now using? Or am I just missing a vital step somewhere? Thanks in advance for the help! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jan 2018 07:17 PM PST I have been using a third party charger for about a year now and all of a sudden my iPhone 5S says it is not supported. I have not updated my phone at all so I don't know why this is happening. Please help [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jan 2018 11:41 AM PST Has anyone else encountered this or found a workaround other than having to restart the phone each time? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Jan 2018 06:41 PM PST I had to put my Time Capsule in Bridge mode in order to use it as a router around my house. Does anyone know a different workaround for this so that I can access my time capsule remotely (Back to my Mac/File Sharing) as I did before I was forced to use the AT&T router/modem? Drawing on top of shapes in Preview Posted: 26 Jan 2018 02:32 PM PST On Preview, is there any way to place a shape, and then draw on top of that shape? When I dry to draw on places that already have a shape, it won't let me (the cursor changes to the grabby hand). Also, do you know of any apps that are less intuitive than Preview? I'd love to have a list handy for reference, you know, in case I need motivation to kill myself. I'm on a Mac. Don't even really know what kind, but the newest kind. [link] [comments] |
Late-2009 Macbook Pro: Won't go past white screen with a slashed circle. Posted: 26 Jan 2018 12:09 PM PST The computer belongs to a neighbor who was hoping I could help. Unfortunately, I'm not especially knowledgeable about computer issues but I thought I could ask around the internet. It's a Macbook Pro that she bought in late 2009. She says she doesn't think she ever updated any software, so I think it was probably running Snow Leopard. The computer was working as usual but then froze. She manually shut it down and when she tried to turn it back on, she got a white screen. When you power the computer on, the Apple logo and a circular loading bar appears. After a while, the Apple logo disappears and is replaced by a circle with a slash through it. I've tried to start it on safe mode (by holding down the shift key until the Apple logo appears) but nothing seems to be happening. It doesn't move past the white screen. I also held down Command+Option+P+R to reset NVRAM after finding an article that suggested it, and while it did seem to reset, it didn't fix the white screen issue. Does anyone have any ideas of what might be wrong or steps I can take to get it working again? I'm doing some googling, but I'm not very technologically skilled and it's hard to know what advice applies to an older computer. Any help is very appreciated. Thank you in advance! How do I import an iMovie video to voice memos(iOS 11)? Posted: 26 Jan 2018 05:49 PM PST |
Posted: 26 Jan 2018 05:39 PM PST Hello, I am sorry if this is the wrong subreddit. If it is, a point in the right direction would be appreciated! I am not tech savvy, and although there is information on google, much of what I've found is contradicting, or just hard for me to follow. Here is the issue: I've just received a call from a coworker who is one of the nicest guys I know. He has been missing from work for the past few days, and no one knew why. Well, it turns out he just got out of jail. His ex girlfriend told the police that he hit her, and he was arrested. Now I am not saying if this is true or not, as I have no way of knowing, and anything is possible. This coworker asked me if he could borrow my macbook air for a few days. I asked him why, and he said that he had a video on his phone of said ex girlfriend in an argument months ago stating that if she wanted to, she could get him sent to jail anytime she wants, all she has to do is hit herself and go to the cops. A week later, the argument cooled down and his ex convinced him to delete the video. My coworker says that he talked to the workers at AT&T, and they told him since he has not backed up his iphone, he needs to get his hands on a macbook, log into his icloud, and can recover the deleted video. I am unsure how that works, or if the worker was just feeding him BS. I want to help my coworker if possible, but feel a little sketchy letting him borrow my macbook, especially if it's not possible. Does anyone have any experience with this? I mean, I'm not even asking for a step by step guide or anything, I just want to know if giving him my macbook will even help. Sorry for the huge wall of text, I just wanted to explain the situation! [link] [comments] |
Want to convert a 2008 MacBook into a lightweight "netbook" equivalent. Posted: 26 Jan 2018 01:26 PM PST My brother has moved away but he left behind an old 2008 MacBook. The hardware is old but I still love the look of the old device and I would like to get some additional use out of it by installing a lightweight Linux distro on the machine and using it for tooling around on the internet or leave it at my girlfriends for streaming media from my Plex media server. I have experience doing this kind of thing on other OS platforms but never on MacOS. Can anyone give me advice on whether this is feasible or should I just forget about the project and recycle the machine? [link] [comments] |
