• I’m one of those that really hates the lock icon location on the iPhone X lock screen... but it occurred to me that the icon was probably placed there because you are required to look at the iPhone in order to unlock it. Your eyes are drawn to the lock, conveniently placed right under the camera.

Posted: 25 Oct 2017 06:07 AM PDT I am so glad that we now have an easy way to manage screenshots that doesn't fill our photos with them. Being able to crop, mark up and copy them in seconds to send in emails and IMs is brilliant. IPhone X design misconception Posted: 25 Oct 2017 10:20 AM PDT The notch is not "taking up screen" and the horns are not "cut out" it is the other way around, the horns are screen you get that would otherwise be bezel. Apple replacing screen on my 2013 MacBook Pro. For free. Posted: 25 Oct 2017 03:43 PM PDT I went to the Apple store yesterday to ask about paying for a replacement glass front on my late-2013 MacBook Pro. The keyboard and trackpad had scraped up against the screen, rubbing off the coating and leaving a ghost of the keyboard. To my surprise this was covered years out of warranty. they considered it to be a factory defect. They said that there were a lot of computers effected, and the only solution is a 680 dollar repair to replace the entire top enclosure with screen, glass and aluminum top shell. I'm dropping it off tonight, I'm so excited to get a brand new top enclosure. it's basically half a new laptop! On the eve before preorders I am becoming very concerned about all of the fake information that is spreading regarding preorders and would like to clarify: Carriers cannot guarantee shipping dates as they have no idea what demand will actually be. If Apple can't, neither can a carrier if you order on the iUP, you cannot pay in full during preorders and switch later. You cannot return an opened phone and rebuy it on iUP as it is a loan for the phone Apple has not made any genuine statements regarding supply. While I respect Mr. Kuo, we must remember that his word is not official News spreads fast, doesn't mean it is true Best of luck to all! Had an excellent conversation about the X with the manager on a UK Apple Store Posted: 25 Oct 2017 09:08 AM PDT Just left my local Apple Store, had questions about the iUP, which I'm a member of. Not going to give Store or name as I don't wanna get him in trouble. Summary: . He did not push the X. He openly stated that most people will struggle with the lack of home button and that the price may not be for everyone. He encouraged me to wait until launch, hold both, and then decide. . He said those that preorder "on the 27th at some point" will get one launch day (3rd Nov) and that his Store is not anticipating any major stocking issues. . He said all staff are trained to compare the trade in value and iUP value of your iPhone before buying it, as many people will have made an extra payment during the month wait for the X vs the 8. If they can save you that money that is what they are trained to do. . He has been advised to expect higher demand for the 8 and 8 Plus after the X launches as it is suspected that once people have the opportunity to compare the X and actually see one and hold it they will be willing to buy the 8 plus if they feel it's right, as many people are suspected to be waiting to see the X before they pull the trigger. submitted by /u/Lozpetts162 [link] [comments]
