- I bought a MacBook air (arrives today) but I just realized a new one came out. I want the new one. I can just return this and buy that, right?

- iPhone 7 Unable to Activate. I tried updating it through my Mac but it did not make a difference. Activation stays on loop on my Mac (2nd picture). Any suggestions?

| Having trouble opening my files from Finder Posted: 07 Jun 2022 01:59 PM PDT Hi everyone, I'm having some trouble opening my files from Finder on my MacBook Air. Whenever I try to open a document or pdf, I get a message telling me that the file is "damaged and can't be opened" and that I should "move it to the trash". Strangely, this only seems to be a problem when I try to open my files directly from Finder—if I open my files via Word or Preview, or even from my iPhone, I get no such message. I understand that it's possible to use the command "xattr -cr" followed by the file name, but the problem with this approach is that I can only use the command for one file at a time—inserting an app name (like Word or Preview) doesn't appear to have any effect—and it doesn't solve the underlying issue that each new file I create gets the same message when I try to open it from Finder. Is there anything I can do beside the "xattr -cr" command? I've also tried updating my computer and restarting it several times, but with no luck. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

| Cannot delete .DNG images off iPhone Posted: 07 Jun 2022 05:14 PM PDT I've got an iPhone 12, running 15.1.1 and I've been shooting RAW (.DNG format) photos off and on for a few months and decided to clear them off since they're quite big files. I first tried deleting via Image Capture app. They appear to be deleted, but they remain when I reconnect. I wondered if it was just the ghosty file headers, but no, I can import any of them still. The data is there. I connected the phone to my PC to try to manually delete the files there, and deleted all of them. Alas: they're all still present. I'm fucking stuck! | Posted: 07 Jun 2022 04:10 PM PDT So, long story short one of the rubber domes got damaged on my M1 macbook keyboard. I scraped off as much of the original rubber dome as I could (it was glued on). I have a replacement dome on hand but it seems a light tap on the top of the dome (when just placed over the circuit) triggers a "press" of that key, whereas on the other keys it requires a full depress of the rubber mechanism. Anyone have any knowledge of what actually triggers this circuit and how I can get the replacement to behave like the original. thanks! [link] [comments] |

| Apple’s replacement policy for products bought from another retailer Posted: 07 Jun 2022 03:33 PM PDT I bought a new Apple Watch SE from Curry's PC World. The Digital Crown came in box dented on one of the ridges- which is very disappointing. The problem is that Curry's returns/exchange process is very strenuous and lengthy. Would Apple replace or repair my watch for free even though I didn't buy it directly from them? I've only owned it for two days if that helps. I have both phone numbers as iMessage options under "receive messages to and reply from". Someone messaged the number that I don't currently have the SIM card in (I still received the message), but I wanted to confirm that when I responded it showed as sent from the number that person messaged (not the number I currently have in as my SIM card) jf that makes sense [link] [comments] |

| Only one AirPod Pro works with Wireless Adapter Posted: 07 Jun 2022 01:39 PM PDT Hello! This is literally driving me insane. I used to be able to get both AirPods working beautifully well with a wireless adapter (Model TT-BA11) that I bought off of amazon (this is the link for the user manual : https://image.taotronics.com/en/media/downloads/TT-BA11-user%20manual.pdf). I use it because I like studying at my school library, and they disable the bluetooth function on the desktop computers, so this little gem would would great by plugging it into the AUX port of the computer and connecting my AirPods. I don't know why today all of a sudden, only one AirPod works at a time (i.e when I put them both in my ears, only the left works [the right one isn't producing sound, but it's still cancelling noise], but if I put the left AirPod in the case, the right one will produce sound). The second I take the left one out of the case, the right stops producing sound. But this only happens when I connect it to the adapter; both AirPods are working fine when they're paired to my iPhone. I've tried EVERYTHING (resetting the AirPods until the light turns amber, resetting the wireless adapter until purple flashes twice, 'forget this device' on nearby devices, turned off bluetooth on nearby devices'). It's been 2 hours and I can't figure it out. Pls help. *UPDATE I tried pairing with a pair of Bose headphones and the issue persisted, so then I figured the problem was with the adapter and not the earphones. Upon closer examination, the adapter double-ended AUX cable thing wasn't plugged in all the way to the adapter. I'm trying to set up a mobile app demo for an urban survival skills fair and I was hoping to show how to use this. I've seen a few guides say "in the Settings app, find the "Exposure Notifications" section..." but I don't have this, and it's not under Notifications. I also can't find an app in the store like "WA Notify". Am I just at a dead end? Why isn't anyone saying if this is an iPhone/iOS feature only? Why wouldn't iPad support it? [link] [comments] |

LateNite's Clusters app was a really nice option long ago for compressing folders and even the entire home folder on HFS+ volumes, but now we're kinda of left without something quite so clean it seems. I know we do have options such as https://github.com/RJVB/afsctool, but I kinda feel like MacGyver with only duct tape and some spit to figure out how to fly out of a prison given the options that feel as though are available with this tool. In other words, I'm looking for a neater set-it-and-forget-it style of tool that will not require any memory that it's there or maintenance at any point. | 2 New MacBook Airs with bad batteries? Posted: 07 Jun 2022 01:02 PM PDT Salivations! I purchased a new macbook air from Sweetwater. Upon finish of setup I noticed it was not charging using the included wart. Mousing over the battery indicator, a message says "Service Recommended - Battery is not charging". So Sweetwater sent me another one, and I'm having exact same issue. I can understand if one was bad, but two seems weird. I have no idea what I could have done wrong, again I just plugged it in and completed setup, but perhaps I'm missing something? Or perhaps Sweetwater somehow has a bad batch of machines?
