Anyone who’s never used an Android doesn’t know just how bad iPhone notification settings are Posted: 21 Feb 2022 09:10 PM PST This all or nothing approach the iPhone has towards notifications is as frustrating as it is confusing. Android has settings for each individual app so you can deselect the types of notifications you wish not to receive. Take Bolt for example (a taxi app similar to Uber), I constantly receive promotional messages that pop up on my phone because the iPhone doesn't allow you to disable promotional notifications from Bolt. Android does. All iPhone allows you to do is disable notifications for the app, which means I wouldn't have notifications when I order a cab unless I remembered to switch it back on Another one is a dating app that I'm on that has a live streaming component to it. It'll alert me when random people I don't care about start streaming. There's no setting inside the app to turn that off, yet there was an option in Android's notification settings Given that Android has had this feature baked into the OS for years, it's surely possible for iPhone to do the same thing [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Feb 2022 07:07 AM PST This is a weird request, but has anyone found a way to reset the pen settings in markup back to the default? I know I changed it at some point and I don't know what the defaults are. [link] [comments]
People on AT&T, do you have a toggle anywhere in settings that actually says "VoLTE"? Posted: 22 Feb 2022 04:21 AM PST So I just noticed something that scares the shit out of me. I was comparing my iPhone against someone else's. They have a separate toggle in cellular settings where you can explicitly turn VoLTE on and off. I don't, I only have a toggle in the data options where I can toggle "Enable LTE" and "Data Roaming". There's no mention of 'VoLTE' anywhere in the cellular section of the settings app and nothing comes up when I search either. This isn't an old iPhone 5 or something, I know for sure it supports VoLTE. Is my SIM messed up? Does this mean the phone will stop being able to make and receive calls starting today when AT&T shuts down 3G? Is this what other people see? Edit: I think I heard that 5G iPhones are VoLTE by default, but mine isn't a 12 or 13 so I don't have 5G. [link] [comments]

Posted: 21 Feb 2022 05:20 PM PST Seems like a no-brainer to me. Apple really dropped the ball on this one [link] [comments]
Old app no update option, downgrade system? Posted: 22 Feb 2022 08:03 AM PST So, I have this old app named Models in my ipad in which I bought a bunch of photo references for drawing, problem is, I updated ios and now it won't run, I searched for the developer to ask for help and they are nowhere to be found. Does a system downgrade would be an option? I just want tu run it once, screenshot the sh*t out of it and let it go. What do you think? Thx [link] [comments]
Posted: 22 Feb 2022 08:00 AM PST How do I turn off link previews for iOS 14 in other apps in addition to Safari? I was able to turn it off for Safari by pressing "Hide preview" button but I don't see that option in other apps, like Reddit, email apps or other browsers. IMO, this feature is cool but may pose a small security risk sometimes. Hence I would like to turn it off completely and globally if possible. Tried to find it in Settings but to no avail. Have my own iCloud+ Plan. Can I use a family-sharing iCloud+? Posted: 22 Feb 2022 07:40 AM PST Hi! I've currently subscribed to my own 200GB iCloud+ plan. [link] [comments]
Hide a conversation completely? Posted: 21 Feb 2022 07:06 PM PST My in laws have a family chat which I am added to. It's always a political, divisive mess and I hate it. If I leave the group, it causes drama, and they just add me again. Is there a way to remain part of the chat but make it invisible so I never have to see it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Feb 2022 05:26 PM PST Searching for an old iOS game Hey guys I have need trying to find this game from when I was super young I played it on my moms iPod so this was like 2010-2012 maybe earlier but it was like you would raise this creature thing from an egg in like a dark temple or ruins type thing and you could interact with it that's like by pressing on it or drawing streaks on the screen [link] [comments]
Issues with RAM, apps closing when switch between apps. Posted: 21 Feb 2022 01:59 PM PST Lately I have noticed that when switching apps, the apps restart and it is very annoying. For example, I am in X application filling out a form, I change the app, I change back to a third app and when I return to the first one, it restarts. This has never happened to me so frequently, I have an iPhone 12 running iOS 15. I'm almost sure that iOS is closing the apps because it needs to free up RAM for the others, but it's too much when I'm only using 3 apps. Did you guys think that it's a RAM size issue? Do you think Apple should start putting more RAM into its phones? I am an Android/iOS user and I know that android uses an exorbitant ammount of RAM but it happen less in my android phone. Posted: 22 Feb 2022 02:18 AM PST This is my first time using iPhone as my personal device and something I am missing from android is that when on whatsapp some one sends me like 5 or 6 messages the notification only ringed the first time, now on iOs it rings on every and each message and its annoying. Is any way to get what I am refering if its clear enough to understand? [link] [comments]
I can not revert edits done to some of my photos Posted: 22 Feb 2022 12:46 AM PST (Correct me if I am wrong, but I think it might be iOS related issue.) Whenever I edit photo on my iPhone it should create AAE file with all the edits and the original remains untouched, right? Whenever I chose to cancel all the edits, the AAE file should disappear, right? So I have this unusual thing with couple of files on my photoroll. Those were edited from full size to square size back in the days. I am unable to cancel those edits now. The button that usually does that is greyed out (instead of being red). The data is definitely there (I can reframe the photo and "move" the square frame to other, cropped parts of the photo). When I connect to iFunBox the file is visible as full size uncropped file. There is also AAE file next to it. So data about cropping is definitely there, but there is no way to revert it. I want to return the photos to their original uncropped state but: It's just like iPhone for whatever reason does want to access that AAE file even if I remove it (thus gives me error), but when the AAE file is on the device, iPhone does not acknowledge it and I can't remove the edits that are written inside of it. This issue is with only like 5 photos I took some months ago. Maybe the photos were transferred to some other device and back via AirDrop back in the days, not sure if relevant. Maybe the device powered off during one of those transfers. iPhone XS with most recent iOS. Not using iCloud. Please help. [link] [comments]
Alarm only rings for 1 seconds Posted: 21 Feb 2022 11:55 PM PST Hi I think there's a bug in the live version of iOS with alarm. I use Bluetooth music while I sleep then I wake up for alarm. However since last Wednesday Thursday my alarm only rings for one second then the sleeping music continues. Alarm screen still ongoing at this point like it's ringing. This wasn't the case. Alarm would blast though the Bluetooth speaker until setting it off [link] [comments]
Any good app alternative for Infuse 7 with external drive browsing? Posted: 21 Feb 2022 10:46 PM PST Infuse 7 is really good. I like the UI, online metadata and support for both local and external file browsing. But the free version doesn't support all formats and the Infuse pro 7 pricing is prohibitively high. VLC for iOS sucks. nPlayer won't let me play videos so I don't know yet. Any other video player I've tried doesn't seem to be on par with Infuse 7. [link] [comments]
SwiftKey alternatives for iPhone? Posted: 21 Feb 2022 01:38 AM PST I use SwiftKey for 10 years and I like the slide to type and word prediction. I see many bugs with it in iphone and it is like it is refreshing all the time. A line appears every few seconds above. [link] [comments]
AirPods Pro and battery life on iPhone Posted: 21 Feb 2022 03:17 PM PST So, I am thinking about buying the AirPods Pro model and I was wondering what's the battery health on the iPhone when those are connected? Does the battery drain fast? I have iPhone 13 Pro and I am really scared if I buy them my battery life on my device will drastically change since the Bluetooth will always be enabled. Currently, I am able to use my phone 15 hours/day with one charging. Please share your experiences. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Feb 2022 12:23 PM PST Day 3 now of using my first ever iPhone (13mini) and I have some questions about Apple Music. I synced via ITunes with my PC's library. I then disabled mobile data usage for Apple Music in the settings because I don't want to spend any data listening to what I already own. In settings under "downloaded music" I can see my entire library show up. And when I disable Wi-Fi and mobile data in control center I can still listen to it all. That means that everything is already on my phone right? But when I go into the app and long press on any album I still get the option to download. Sooo… is everything downloaded or not? Will Apple Music spend data or not? Should I rather use a different app? Any clearing up will be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments]
Apps "ignoring" notification settings? Posted: 21 Feb 2022 02:00 AM PST I have Outlook on my phone and I have the notification settings set to show "banner" and "lock screen" but not Notification Center. Yet Outlook still shows notifications when I unlock my phone and swipe down the Notification Center. What am I missing? [link] [comments]
low quality when streaming shows iphone 13 promax Posted: 21 Feb 2022 04:55 PM PST this has probably been asked already but i haven't found a list about it. When i watch a video from day youtube/netflix/hulu, it always starts in low quality and eventually goes to regular quality, this is fine on youtube because usually i can change the quality manually to instant get it to a higher quality, but in apps like prim video i have to wait for it to change in its own, or restart the video multiple times. have bot had this issue in any phones in the past. is this a problem with the new phone/ios or is there some sort of setting i can change? not a huge deal but gets annoying fast [link] [comments]
Can't Find Auto-Reply Text option Posted: 21 Feb 2022 08:49 AM PST I've read dozens of articles and all of them say that under Focus, Options there should be an auto-reply option for text messaging but that option is simply not there on my phone. I'm looking at screenshots and under Driving there's an auto-reply option that does not exist on my phone. The "Driving" focus is also not there. I'm trying to set up something that will automatically respond to any text messages for the next 4 days as I will not be able to be near my phone. I'm running 15.3.1. Did this option move? Is there an app that locks your iphone so you can't use it? Posted: 22 Feb 2022 12:29 AM PST I understand that there is screen time and you can access downtime which puts limits on your phone; however it gives you access to cancel downtime. I am looking for an app that locks your phone for a set period of time so I can do something a lot more productive. I am aware that I can use focus timers or just use will power, however it's a lot easier if I didn't have access to my phone than to actively resist using my phone. As always, I highly appreciate any help or advice you guys suggest to me. [link] [comments] |
