| Posted: 25 Feb 2022 03:54 AM PST The function keys F1 all the way to F9 don't work one day to the next. The volume keys F10-F12 work fine. I mostly use the brightness controls on F1 and F2. These same keys work as normal on the laptop internal keyboard. I'm running High Sierra 10.3.6 on a mid 2012 13" Macbook Pro. It works beautifully. I've used this Magic Keyboard A1644 for at least 4 years with no issues. I have tried the following and none have resolved issue:
I also tried another older external bluetooth keyboard I had and it has a similar problem. Everything works except the function keys. To me this seems to imply that there's something wrong with the operating system and the way it interfaces with the function keys on a bluetooth keyboard and not a hardware fault with the Magic Keyboard. What could possibly cause this to occur suddenly? Short of doing a full reinstall of the OS I have no idea what to do at this point. It's driving me insane as I use an external keyboard for 99% of my computer use. This happened overnight. One night it worked and the next morning it was like this. Nothing of significant occured between then. Just broken. EDIT: I have found that the right shift key is the only other key which doesn't work. [link] [comments] |

When I went through the Trade-in questionnaire and clicked on the little ?'s It didn't really include it so I'm not sure how to go about it please help! EDIT: the damage is not on the lense. Annoyingly a lot of my work is done via iMessage and WhatsApp (hence wanting to have a separate number for a bit of work-life balance), and I don't seem to be able to separate the two numbers in iMessage settings. I assumed it would be as simple as adding both my numbers to any phones and/or group threads I'm happy to still be in on weekends etc, but due to iMessage settings it seems that's not the case? Instead it seems to have kicked my 'work' number out of some groups, and added my personal one instead? Is there a workaround? | Macbook pro stucks on loading screen Posted: 25 Feb 2022 01:28 AM PST Hi everyone, my aunt has a macbook pro (maybe 15 inches) and asked me for setting up a vpn on her system. i've downloaded a file from this (http://88.150.154.235/anyconnect-macos.zip) link and then i just extracted the .dmg file. I installed it on the system and then i got a message which said i should restart the laptop. I just did that and now her macbook just stucks on the loading screen. The progress bar under the apple sign completes and then nothing happens. In addition I don't have any disk. The laptop model is A1278 (2008-2012). And i've tried many solutions like reseting SMC and NVRAM. I've also tried entering safe mode, but nothing happens when i press and hold the shift button on laptop startup. Someone said that i should try reinstalling the macos but as i'm not a apple products fan and given that my data is so important, i can't take the risk. But I have a record in my emails that I've been signed up for iCloud since 2012. When I try to log into that associates email address, it says no iCloud exists. | Urgent! Locked out of MacBook for two weeks! Posted: 24 Feb 2022 06:19 PM PST I really hope someone can help. I've exhausted all options. I'm a photojournalist who relies heavily on her laptop for daily work. About two months ago I changed all my passwords after someone hacked into my apple account and spent $250 through apple. While doing damage control, I cancelled my credit card that was associated with the account and replaced it as well. Since changing my password, I didn't turn the password on due to the fact I knew I wouldn't remember it offhand. The other day I was using my computer, it had been charging but randomly crashed. When it rebooted, it asked for my password. I tried to guess and got locked out. Apple put my device in recovery mode since I put the same password for my computer and iCloud. Obviously hindsight is 20/20 and I should've put the password somewhere other than the computer. I've been on the phone with Apple for five days and went into the Apple store. Despite having the receipt for the device, access to the email and phone number on the account, I was told by every customer service person they couldn't help me. In order to to get back in, I had to enter credit card information from the old card I cancelled when my apple account got hacked. Since this card is cancelled, I no longer have it and it hasn't been on my account in months. I had actually updated my card to the new one, but Apple didn't ask me for that card…. So basically they are telling me that I have to wait two weeks to reset my iCloud password. I can not do that when I used my computer every day for work. I'm pulling my hair out trying to use my phone, but since I need to FTP video files it's literally fucking impossible. I can provide proof of purchase, and links to my work to whoever can help me so you know I'm telling the truth. As a side note, when I was following the recovery process it showed me that there were two laptops logged into my Apple ID (I only own one). Apple keeps telling me that security is number 1 and that's why they can't help me. If that was true my account wouldn't have been broken into in the first place. They have a record of all of this. To add insult to injury, it was my ex the first time. I have a restraining order against him and the fact that he could have or did access my location is a matter of personal safety. Apple did nothing to address this and wouldn't provide me with any information for the police report. So I'm on Reddit searching for help. Thanks ahead of time. [link] [comments] |

I don't understand why I would need a valid payment method on file to download a free app or update. I tried to delete my debit card off there but it says I can't because I have an active subscription, but I don't have any active. Posted: 24 Feb 2022 11:27 PM PST Hey gang… I'm on an iPhone 11 Pro Max with updated software (downloaded 15.3.1 yesterday...this problem started a few days prior to that) several apps including YouTube, PayPal and the Apple podcast app seem to be "off-line." I can still view/listen to content via IG, Spotify, Netflix,Facebook, etc. I can also view You Tube vids using Safari however. I've restarted the phone, hard-resetted it, logged off of/back on to You Tube, made sure cellular data is switched on for the offending apps in settings. | Posted: 24 Feb 2022 10:00 PM PST Hi everyone. So I am part a family account on iCloud, and we have several payment methods linked for App Store payments + iCloud storage payments. I am wanting to use my own card for some in app purchases. I've followed guidelines on the Apple website and dragged my preferred payment method to the top under "Payment & Delivery" but it's still charging a different card (a family member's). Now I believe the problem stems from the fact that it's asking me to "Link my card with Apple Pay". So I've attempted to add it by clicking my payment method and "Link card". As usual, it asks me to double click the lock button, but then a red exclamation mark appears and then says "payment not completed". My card has been in Apple Wallet for as long as I can remember and I've been using it everyday for tap payments at various retailers. I've attempted removing the card in both "Payment & delivery" and in Apple Wallet and re-adding them but the problem still stands. Any suggestions to fixing this issue? TIA iPhone XR running version iOS 15.3.1 Edit: I've also logged out of the App Store and back in to attempt to resolve the issue. Posted: 24 Feb 2022 09:32 PM PST I like taking pictures with a separate camera and would like to be able to make an album where every photo is stored in iCloud and doesn't use storage in my (64gb) iPhone.
