13 Pro users - do you find the camera bump noticeable?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 11:06 AM PST

I'm an Android user (since 2015) who wants to jump back and I'm looking at getting the 13 Pro for the refresh rate. However, the camera bump scares me off a bit. I'll be using a case and most seem to add a lip around the bump making it even bigger.

I'm not concerned about how the phone cant lay flat and will wobble. Instead, do you notice the bump in an annoying way with normal handling of the phone? Especially in landscape watching videos? Or have you had to adjust how you put the phone in your pocket in case it catches?

Any comments from your experiences would be helpful! Thanks.

What will I gain from the switch?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 10:06 AM PST

I've been using Pixel for about 3 years now, and I'm trying to decide on my next phone. Pixel 6 Pro, Galaxy S21 Ultra, or an iPhone 13 Pro Max. I originally moved to Android for several reasons, like replaceable batteries, an SD card slot, and the ability to plug my phone into my computer and pull photos/videos or add music just by using file explorer on my computer.

A lot of the features of Android that I swapped to have been removed since, or Apple has actually added them. And I know the differences between the S21 Ultra and the Pixel 6 Pro will be more miniscule, but they're still there. What all will I gain by switching away from Pixel to an iPhone?

Optimised Charging would be so much better if Apple implemented it like Google.

    Posted: 25 Jan 2022 04:41 PM PST

Title. Apple's version of optimised charging barely works. For me, and for others with irregular schedules, it doesn't work at all - and yes, I do have the location features enabled.

I switched to an iPhone from a Pixel phone, and the adaptive charging feature there is honestly a dream. The phone charges to 100% just before your earliest alarm on any given day, meaning the system works AND is flexible. It's literally perfect. This would be so easy to implement, so why is iOS still using this system which does not function?

The “pill” cutout rumours, when they’ve just given MacBooks a notch

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 12:31 AM PST

Keep seeing rumours about the next iPhone having a pill cutout. I mean it's a rumour, and there's been rumours about the notch / no notch for a while, BUT, would they necessarily get rid of the notch when they've just given it to MacBooks? I mean the notch is becoming a thing you associate with Apple.

Just a thought. Just seems a bit weird to me they'd do that when they've just stuck notches on their computers.

Apple launches 'Shot on iPhone Challenge' for macro photographers

Would you buy an iPhone 4 with A15 Bionic,4 GB of RAM,12 MP front and back camera, touch ID,wireless charging and improved speakers for 299$ ??

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 01:54 PM PST

Imagine if Apple ever decides to release an iPhone like that, they could call it iPhone SJE (Steve Jobs Edition) or iPhone Classic or something like that.

In my opinion iPhone 4 is the best iPhone design ever and I would definitely be a buyer.

Should I just stick with the iPhone 11 with a broken back glass, with a case that didn’t work or get the iPhone 12 for $41 with an upgrade.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 01:54 PM PST

Teenager with a phone, doesn't get better than that. I accidentally dropped my phone with a screen protector and case down the stairs and it decided to crack all of the back glass. Now, I am wondering if I broken back glass will effect any of the pieces of the phones interior or just degrade performance, or for just $41 take an upgrade to the iPhone 12. Is the iPhone 12 really that different though, I mean it has 5G but that's all I consider more useful about it.

Why can’t I watch my screen recordings offline?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 01:48 PM PST

When I try to watch videos I have on my phone, it says I have to be connected to the internet. This wasn't the case at least a few months ago, is there a way to make it so I can watch my screen recordings while I don't have service or wifi?

How to replace a single file on iPhone that is part of an app?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 01:35 PM PST

My iPhone got close to being full on storage, and it resulted in a sqlite DB file from an app getting zeroed out. I easily found the file using a sqLite DB browser against the Manifest file in the iTunes backup directory from current backup (and a prior backup.)

I want to take the prior backup file DB file and restore it into a current backup. But the problem is the iTunes (win) restore function seems like it requires the device to be empty to restore or something? It complains that there isn't enough space to restore. I don't know if it expects me to clear everything off or what. Reading online there are tons of issues with this, but the answers are sort of shrugs.

Also, I don't want to reinstall new versions of apps. I don't want to re-authenticate a million TFA things. I just... want to fix a broken file.

Is there any way to do this easily?

I tried to cut down the Manifest file to the single file entry and restore that, but it didn't work.

Will Apple release a special colour for the 13 series in spring, just like last year?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 10:32 AM PST

Around April 2021 Apple released a purple edition for the 12. Will they release another special colour for the 13? And if so, what could it possible be? I'm hoping for a greenish colour, or yellow/orange

iPhone Wallpaper changing with Apple case

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 12:29 AM PST

I remember seeing something online about Apple phone cases changing the colour of the wallpaper/screensaver on iPhone 12s and above.

I'm certain I didn't dream it, can someone confirm if this was a thing?

Apple needs to step up its features.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2022 08:16 AM PST

Changing from a Linux desktop and pure aosp android device here. I feel trapped. Like a baby. I can't make the changes I want. Android has some features that iOS needs. First off. Why is there no split screen on iPhones after all this time? Our displays are bigger and wider than most non idevices, It's a no brainer. Secondly I can also have two versions of the same app using shelter. I use this for many applications as it allows me to use two Acc's at the same time. Another thing is the customization. Why is there no theming engine after all these years? These feel like simple features to add. Yet we are missing them. Don't get me started on the Home Screen. Why can't we remove the widgets page and App Library if we don't use it? On android this would be a one tap and be gone deal. Before you torch me. I am used to linux m. Where I can make any adjustments I damn well see fit using the terminal so there is an adjustment period but I believe my requests are valid. Thanks for reading.

What Are Your Thoughts On Space Grey?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2022 07:30 PM PST

How do y'all feel about the space grey colorway nowadays? Do you think that it feels outdated (at least compared to the iPhone 6 times when it felt extremely eye-catching) and would prefer Apple to start using matte black as the "darker color" option for their products? Or perhaps you don't care at all because you're Team Silver/Gold anyways. Let me know!

iPhone XS Rhinoshield SolidSuit first hands on impression! It doesn’t look good for this guy…

    Posted: 25 Jan 2022 01:51 PM PST

So i just received the 3d impact protector and the solidsuit case for my iPhone XS from Rhinoshield. When it comes to the screen protector, it looks great and it seems to be really secure around the edges. The case isn't too good. First of all (the biggest issue) is this case is slippery af. It actually feels less grippy with two hands, and u gotta hold it tight. The edges feel really thick and nice, but the texture is just slippy. It is also underwhelming because of how slim this case is, and it kind of looks like Apple Store level so you definetely don't want to drop it often. Maybe it's just first impressions and it is really protective like everyone says, but i think i'll keep the screen protector but buy an OtterBox or UAG case, because i just spent over 500$ for repairing this phone twice, and i don't need something that will slip so easily.

    Temperature and Humidity sensors

    Posted: 25 Jan 2022 02:25 PM PST

I used to own a Samsung Galaxy S4 in 2013 and I remember it had a built in temperature and humidity sensor. What is the reason that other phone makers never used such sensors and Samsung itself discontinued it. Is it due to the cost or some other reason ?.

Would the iPhone benefit from having such sensors ? I personally own an iPhone 12 Pro and feel the sensors would be quite useful.

    Batterygate lawsuit payout?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2022 11:41 AM PST

I did a search and there hasn't been any news on this in at least half a year if not more. Have they reached a verdict and payment in the class action suit? I was expecting $75, but fully expect to get a buck fiddy when all is said and done.
