Why is streaming sometimes blurry when I start a video? Posted: 28 Dec 2021 08:54 PM PST When watching something on iTunes, it sometimes starts blurry. It's kind of annoying. I can understand if it were occasional but it seems almost 50/50. Anyone else having this issue? I didn't have this issue before but more recently. Airplay stops when using the remote, making airplay hard to use. Posted: 28 Dec 2021 09:23 PM PST When I airplay from my iPhone or iPad, using the remote to pause or seek just abruptly stops airplay. This seems to happen only when the device is locked. Why does Amazon Prime when played on ATV take forever to get upto resolution ? Posted: 28 Dec 2021 06:36 AM PST i have a wired gigabit network and everything runs perfect everywhere, except on Apple TV when running Amazon prime. it literally takes a few mins of watching at what seems 360p before HD kicks in. Maybe even as much as 5mins. With a plethora of devices that play Amazon Prime, i still prefer Apple TV because it converts everything to the proper frame rate of 24fps, rather than 3:2 pulldown of 60fps, like some other devices. SportsNet app audio out of sync Posted: 28 Dec 2021 04:23 PM PST Anyone else having issues with Apple 4K device where the audio can be horribly out of sync, then the stream resets (or something) and is fine, but they quickly goes out of sync again? I've uninstalled a few times (along with restarts), nothing seems to fix. Dolby atmos distortions Posted: 28 Dec 2021 10:11 AM PST I'm using atv latest model connected to av receiver with high quality certified cable,noticed that when using Dolby atmos and not multi in there are quite frequent random distortions . Did some digging and found out that people been logging this issue with customer service but I haven't found out much more. Is there any fix? Wait for firmware update or contact apple? Apple TV 4K + Soundbar problem Posted: 28 Dec 2021 03:48 PM PST Hey, So I have an Apple TV 4K, A Samsung Q70R TV and a Samsung HW-R560 soundbar with a Samsung PS-WR55D wireless subwoofer. I am running my soundbar through HDMI-ARC into my TV. My problem is that I can only control the volume of the soundbar with my Apple TV remote, the subwoofer doesn't follow along. Let's say I turn the volume down from 20 to 2 on my Apple TV remote. The subwoofer stays on the same loudness as when it was on 20, but the subwoofer is at 2 loudness. If I then turn the volume down on my regulsr TV remote, it says that it's still on 20 volume. If I turn the volume down on my regular TV remote to 2 and then turn up the volume with my Apple TV remote to 20, the soundbar will be at 20 volume but the subwoofer will stay at the same loudness and bass so the audio is really tinny. HomePod Audio cuts out only in YouTube app Posted: 28 Dec 2021 04:37 AM PST I have two original HomePods connected with my 4K AppleTV and I have strong wifi (there's an Orbi mesh satellite in the same room). However only when watching YouTube the audio on the HomePods occasionally cuts out of one of them. Every other app is fine, Netflix Plex HBO etc. The issue briefly went away with iOS 15 however it's came back. A restart also briefly fixes it. Smoother picture on my Samsung YouTube app compared to Apple TV 4K? Weird caching/buffer issue with Home Sharing Posted: 28 Dec 2021 03:11 AM PST Hey all! I've been having an intermittent issue with Home Sharing that's a bit difficult to figure out, so if anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. The basics: I have an Apple TV 4K (Gen 2, 2021) connected to my LG OLED, and I use an Eero router (just the one), which is in the same room as the ATV, just a few metres in fact. I have a fair amount of 4K content which was originally in an MKV but I've since remuxed into .mp4 without re-encoding the video. The content is streamed directly via Home Sharing and played through the Computers app. The problem: The vast majority of the time, the Apple TV plays everything absolutely fine. It starts playback as instantly as I'd expect, looks fine, plays fine, and can be resumed part way through without any issue. So far so good! However, for reasons I am unable to figure out, sometimes, when I hit play, the Apple TV starts playback, but doesn't buffer the film/TV show at all. Where the grey bar usually starts building up, it doesn't 'go grey' after the playhead at all, so even though the file does 'play', it's effectively streaming in real time, so if there's suddenly a busy scene (the kind of thing that would cause a bitrate spike, or just more a busier scene to decode), the ATV stutters for anywhere from a split second to a couple of seconds at a time, before it catches up, plays fine for anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of dozen seconds, then pauses briefly again. What I've tried: Stopping and restarting playback, force quitting the Computers app, unplugging the ATV for a few minutes along with restarting my Mac and the network, none of it helps. I've also unplugged my Eero wi-fi router and used my ISP-provided router just in case it's a network issue of some kind, and that doesn't help either. What works (temporarily): The only actual 'fix' I've found when I first had this problem a month or so ago was to enable beta updates and download the RC (release candidate) of tvOS 15.2 by way of a hail mary. I tried immediately after updating, and the problem disappeared. I figured it for a temporary tvOS bug and went about streaming away merrily for a good few weeks, but it's just happened again. I just ran a beta update for tvOS 15.3 that was available out of desperation, which again solved the issue instantly. I try and avoid running beta software as a rule, and in any case this isn't a reliable fix method as there's not always going to be an update available! If I have to guess, the cache is somehow corrupt or messed up in some way that a regular ATV reboot doesn't clear. Is there a way to do this manually, either with developer tools or something, or better yet, maybe someone actually knows what's going on? I had used it initially on my LG OLED C7 and everything was perfectly fine. I recently purchased a new Sony OLED AJ90 TV and had the recent updates to 15.1 and whatever the newest version is. Since those updates it just seems ATV has been a piece of garbage. I end up using the stock apps that come with the TV instead of Apple TV (Netflix, Disney etc..). This is frustrating because the jitter/lag is so obvious during some scenes. Anyone else having the issue? I have tried some suggestions such as the 'remove search for AirPods under Bluetooth device'. Just bought Apple TV 4K 2021. Siri Remote does not control volume but all other buttons work fine. Posted: 27 Dec 2021 03:05 PM PST I have a Panasonic TH-50A400Z. HDMI CEC is ON. It's connected to the tv via a 4K HDMI cable that I bought with it. I set up the Siri Remote in the volume control settings menu, the set-up went fine and it registered all volume button inputs and the mute button. It's called "Siri Remote via IR" in volume control. When I push volume up and down buttons, the light on the front of the Apple TV does flash with each press, so it is registering that the buttons are being pressed. It just does not actually do anything. I've turned off the Apple TV box and my tv, I unplugged them both and cut off power and turned them back on and no changes. So turning it off and on again does not work. Any suggestions? Edit to add: I downloaded the software updates for the TVos when I set it up too.
